I'm not getting how talking about BL's accent could be conceived as racist.

It doesn't matter what this post says, they'll call it racist anyway.

Afterward? After what? If that is something that LE is looking into, do you think LE or CFS is waiting till afterward to investigate? I'm not familiar with an investigative agency that would wait to investigate a possible crime and allow people involved time to get their stories together and mess with evidence. The media is already asking hard questions and reporting on the dad. Why should we at WS be the only ones expected to not discuss and sleuth the topic of dad? I want the truth, whatever that is, exposed for Shaniya the little girl who ended up dead.

I'm talking about prioritizing. I never asked or told anyone to not discuss it. I was stating my opinion, and if you don't like it, that's your prerogative. If you prefer to dig into the pasts of everyone other than those responsible for selling, raping, and murdering Shaniya Davis then do so. I still have my own opinion.

ooppppsssssssssssss. :) Thanks for the correction!!!!

Hey technically, I was wrong too. SHe isn't the owner of the park, just the manager. But her name is Barbara Davenport.

(So now we have BD the aunt and BD the MH manager. Wonder why I have this headache...)

I've been heartbroken about this case all week. My emotions have been all over the place regarding all these characters. I too heard the son speak on NG about "Mario" very loosely, with a sense of familiarity that seemed unmistakeable. He said something about "Mario" and the video tape, I believe. It did sound like he knew him personally, not just some 🤬🤬🤬 who stole his sister. I have a feeling they all know each other to some degree. The son said he's pick Shaniya up and take her to Chuck E. Cheese's, etc... Where did he pick her up from? Was it the trailer park, or was this sometime before. He said he lives in Charlotte?
With the father, I've tried to give the benedit of the doubt, because I know he's grieving, but he made some serious, serious mistakes that cannot be overlooked. If I speculate some, I feel that after his wife was killed, he couldn't cope with being a full-time father, so his children went to live with his father-in-law. His son doesn't share his last name. Since the son appeared to me to be well-spoken and well-cared for, that must mean something, of who he feels closer to. I'm curious as to what the friend, Todd Allen said, that after taking care of Shaniya for months, the girlfriend, Ty, just slipped out of the picture.
I have to wonder if he met another woman in Utah, as Allen speculated, and broke up with his girlfriend. Could he have been planning to spend more time/move to Utah, did he not want a little girl to take with him, that responsibility? If he put the little girl with his sister or the Allen family, he would have still had to answer to them, with money, any problems that may have arisen. However, if he could put Shaniya with her mother, he could possibly put all of the responsibility on AD and slink off into the west and not have to feel responsible for her. She'd be with her "mother", a legal parent, it wouldn't be on anyone else. If the mom really was working, etc..., he may have hoped she could provide for Shaniya in all areas, and he could just slip her some child support now and then. I just have a feeling he wanted to give up responsibility, because why else would he not check better into the circumstances of his beloved daughter's new home?

:woohoo::woohoo: You took the words right out of my mouth! ITA!

Can someone please give me their interpretation of C, the older daughter of Bradley?

I may have to rethink some things, there are holes turning up in her story.

  • #346
we have seen other cases where a single mom takes up with a guy without checking him out ....or someone trusts a child to a "bad" babysitter...none of them "plan" these things...but the resulting tragedy is to the child
and that is what hurts

Your post respectfully snipped.

The threads here are full of those cases. Seems like there are at least a couple of them posted a week. And boy do we go after the mom's that made those bad decisions. No one cares in those cases about hindsight and 20/20. We expect the mom's to make better decisions than they did. And rightfully so, IMO. So why should BL be treated any different?

We need a better timeline! I recall Shaniya being dropped off Oct. 9th a Friday. Aunt C getting the "you won't see her again" phone call Oct 11th a Sunday. And that she was "withdrawn" from school about mid Oct.-so that would be the first week of her being with AD. I suspect the abuse started almost immediately after Oct. 9th!:furious:

IMO, The way the article is written "the aunt dropped Shaniya off on Saturday October 31, 2009 and Sunday could be either Sunday November 1st or Sunday November 8th.

However, IF we go by the time line of what Brad says: October 9, 2009 then the phone call was actually Sunday, October 11, 2009.

Now I am totally leaning to October 9th as drop-off and October 11th as phone call. Add in withdrawn from school mid-October.

Now I am :furious: because that means the aunt, after receiving the phone call on October 11th regarding Shaniya never went to the school to check on her.

Originally I thought Sunday November 8th but not any longer.

Is it possible that the aunt was still picking her up (on weekends maybe) for part of the time that Shaniya was at AD's house?

That would explain why they said she was dropped off on October 9th, then after October 31st the aunt was told she'd 'never see Shaniya again'...

That doesn't explain why the aunt only packed two days worth of clothes on the 31st, though - unless she thought Shaniya was due back and something changed.

It's hard for me to believe that they had no contact with Shaniya for almost a month. My children go to my mom's for one night and I'm calling, not to check up, but because I miss them. I just can't imagine, ESPECIALLY under these circumstances.

I have been believing she was dropped off on the 9th, but it would settle the school issue if she were actually dropped off on the 31st, as Dad would have pulled her out of school...
Dammit, I need answers.

ETA: Regardless of when she was left there, I really do think that Carey only thought she was going for 2 days.

Patty G..that is a great point..

it had to be Oct 9th..since she was taken out of school during october

Oct 31 was AFTER she had been "removed from the roster" or whatever at the school

I still wish we knew more about that...but doubt the school will put too much info out there

I think the Aunt is so very upset she just made a mistake in the date

Oct 9th sounds right now...

Shaniya went to visit her mother on Oct. 31. Lockhart said she packed Shaniya enough clothes for two days and expected to pick her up that Sunday.

But on Sunday morning, Lockhart said, Davis called and told her that she'd never see Shaniya again. Lockhart said Davis was angry that she had disciplined Shaniya for getting into a fight with her cousins.

“I was at a loss; I had no idea what to do,” said Lockhart, who had no formal custody of Shaniya and could not demand her return.

“I knew when [my brother] came home

:woohoo: found it :woohoo:

Yes that is one of the reports but I heard daddy say she left on 10.9.........
So where did Shaniya go from 10.9 to 10.31? Was she with Daddy till 10.9 and then go to her aunts house till 10.31?

This is not directed at anyone in particular but I WISH people would stop repeating this 'idea' that AD had at some time been a babysitter for BL's kids....from what I understand that was nothing more than something originally posted by a BLOGGER somewhere else and has NEVER been substantiated anywhere.

:waitasec: BUT, Dad wasn't aware that Shaniya was taken out of school based on his press conference.

ONLY MOHO:

Cheyene seems deceptive and contradictory in her interview on NG. First AB is "really really sweet. Her way of being was soo soo sweet and how she was with me. I never would have suspected . . . . "

Followed in almost the next sentence by "yeah, I know she smokes pot" in a very nonchalant way. followed by: "well, she (Shaniya) wasn't sposed to be there. She wasn't sposed to have her" and "I suspected she used cocaine"

(I am paraphrasing not quoting Cheyenedirectly here)

Those statements seem very wishy washy and when taken in their entirety seem to be the statements of someone who doesn't know what they should say or didn't know the person well and simply wants to please the interviewer.

not necessarily. Remember 5 year old girls don't need an excuse like holloween to dress up like a fairy or princess.

Little girls do love their dress up :)

But in the picture she is holding a halloween bag you can see it on her arm

Mean no harm, but right now there's no new info and we all are just speculating. We've been talking about the exact same stuff for 48 pages now!

Maybe we should relax a little? :)

Something I was trying to figure out last night that is bothering me.
MAM took her to the hotel for a very short amount of time.
I did a search for available hotels and 45 came up. Now that is quite a few to choose from. There were others cheaper. Also, others that would give more privacy with just an outside entrance to a room instead of having to walk through a lobby with a little girl in your arms. Why did he choose this hotel?
Did he have a connection with this hotel already? Was he able to get access to a room for free?
If all he wanted to do was clean her up, he could have stopped somewhere and used a restroom.

Also, when his family told him the police were looking for him, where was he? Did they call him on a cell phone or did they actually see him?

Could it be possible that Shaniya was still alive then but when he found out he was being looked for he killed her then?

VB

Again, being a local who drives by that hotel every day to work, my co-workers and I were immediately perplexed when we heard this because I guess you can say that it is the "nicest" hotel in Sanford because it quite literally just opened within the past 4 months or so. There truly are some "notels" in the area that I'm certain you can rent by the hour. So why take her that one of all places??? I just can't wrap my head around that one.

Now here is something that is STRICTLY HERESAY/RUMOR. One of my co-worker's brother-in-law is a local detective that was assisting. On Sunday, I was at this co-worker's house - she lives within a mile of the site and across from the EMT station - and her brother-in-law had only said that they had received a "credible tip to search that area". So Monday comes and the same co-worker's husband calls and tells her that they are across the road from their house searching a new home construction site. Then her aunt calls who has a sister-in-law who works on the EMT squad and the rumor was that MAM had confessed that he killed her but he was so "messed up" (i.e. high) that he couldn't remember where he had left her. All he could remember was red clay and a port-o-john and there was indeed red dirt on his vehicle. Well, Lee County is renowned for it's pottery so guess what was at the construction site? Tons of red clay and a port-o-john. Again, STRICTLY he said/she said stuff but if you want some of the local rumors, there you go....

YUP, this information came from a news website (WRAL) blogging/comment section of the news site.

everyoneneedsavoice took offense at the comments regarding the "change in dialect" bio dad exhibitted in various interview, etc. Because everyone who commented seemed to be pointing at the fact that when around african americans he seems to speak in a more urban eubonic manner than when around an audience of whites. Only everyone used terms like "dialect" rather than being direct.

Living in a very diverse neighborhood I see a lot of young white males and females whose friends include a lot of african americans who speak in this manner too. It is a social thing and not a "dialect".

For the record I think the whole dialect thing is completely off topic and I am sorry that it came up here as I think it is a distraction from the real issues -

Just wait until you hear Oprah's voice/dialect as the princess in Disney's new, unreleased, "Princess and the Frog".

[Without sounding racist, yes, the frog is green.]

Just my own experience with my own little ones, but as soon as they get their costumes in the weeks before halloween they immediately want to try them on and traipse around in them in the days prior, right down to the bag/bucket :)
