Can't find anywhere else to post about Shaniya, but went Halloween costume shopping with my grandaughter today and thought of her. Brought tears.

She really touched my heart...hoping and praying for justice for that innocent angel...

Know how you feel. Me too. Haven't bought any Halloween costumes lately, but Shaniya should be able to right now, and she's not. :(

Holding on for justice.

Email a politician! Who knows, it might help give her a playground.

I have missed it I guess... but why is there no regular Shaniya thread?

  • #383
It's closed for review.

It's been down for a few weeks.

Here's hoping there will be a thread, and some GOOD NEWS to discuss on it...

I agree Tikki. In a few weeks it will be 1 year! Hope to hear good news soon.

I know it's marked on my calender. :(
Hoping for news this next week. If anyone comes across a media link regarding the anniversary or anything, please post? TIA.

(BTW, answered the phone the other day from a politician. Of course it was an automated one, so I had to shout at the recording " Do you know Shaniya, because if so I'm voting for you don't care about your affiliation!")

We will get you a playground yet, Shaniya!

almost a whole year and other than us here, its almost as if Shaniya fell of the face of the earth rather than the truth of her suffering.

I know what was done to this little sweet baby by the woman that gave her life was so horrific it makes many uncomfortable, but I am so saddened to see that in less than a year, six months really, it is like it never happened.

It ha been forgotten by the media, despite all the fervor with which many reported wehn it was breaking. Despite experts, and guests and panelists on newsprograms etc. claiming outrage and that they would demand answers and justice -

And yet, it is as if she was the poster child for awful crimes against children by their own parent, and then poof, she disappeared from the public consciousness, just like so much of yesterday's news.

We haven't forgotten little angel. I will never forget you sweet child. Your suffering has changed me permanently.

Shaniya has not been forgotten by WS, the media, LE, or the justice system in NC. IMO.

I don't have any current links as of this moment, but thought maybe it would be a good idea to refresh people with a local news archive:

I'm sure there will be 1 year coverage and a lot of coverage/info when the trials start.

Trying to be patient.

I so hope so friends. To me, I think the horror of it simply makes it difficult for many to let stay with them. Sort of a defense mechanism.

But I hope I am wrong. I hope it is prevelant in the media at the anniversary date and I truly hope that justice will be served. Perhaps it is just me, feeling impatient.

I have hit my one year anniversary and not one of the little angels I have followed has yet seen justice. Several of my special victims have not even been found but are assumed murdered. I know these things take time but man I wish teh wheels of justice didn't turn soooo slowly.

BBM:
Oh, don't we all. I think even the wheels of justice themselves frequently are frustrated by how slow they turn.

In keeping with the playground thread- has anyone received an email back about it? (I just emailed another NC politician. Voting day is approaching rapidly. :) )

Bumping for you, baby girl. It's voting day, and guess who I'm voting for? You got it! Those willing to fight for your justice and your playground. :) I urge all North Carolinians to do the same.

  • #393
And may we all vote in our states for people who care about CHILDREN!!!!

  • #394
Bumping for you again, Shaniya.
With the date of the anniversary of Shaniya's rape and murder rapidly approaching, can I please urge all North Carolinians (and people everywhere) to call their local media outlets and ask to run a "One Year Later" story on this beautiful child?

If anyone needs help finding a media source in their area I would be happy to help.
TIA.

I really wish we could get Shaniya's thread back. It hurts my heart to know she has no discussion thread here. She deserves that thread IMO.

Me too :blushing:.

Oriah, I just found this thread but email has been sent. Any new politicos in your neck of the woods we can send email/letters to?

Okay Guys - bringing this thread back. Here are some pointers, so I don't have to shut it down again:

1. Stay on topic.
2. Do NOT argue your opinions or the opinions of others. Do not call a poster out because they disagree or think differently than you do.
3. Stay on topic.
4. Do not bicker - it is very unattractive.
5. Stay on topic.
6. Follow all TOS.

I have removed about 50 posts from this thread. It has taken a bit of time. I don't want to do that again - so please be aware that if I have to do it again, I will recommend TOs for everyone that WRITES or RESPONDS to a post that has to be removed.

Thank you for your attention to Shaniya. She certainly deserves our attention, and I pray she has justice soon.

Salem

One year later: Will there be justice for Shaniya?

Snipped:

Five-year-old Shaniya Davis had barely begun to live when she was raped and strangled and her body dumped on the side of a road near the Harnett-Lee county line in November 2009.

****THERE IS A LOT of info in this article!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of info on the case, and a lot of info I had not read yet about the DSS drama.
