Those are all choices he made, he chose that job and his away from home time, nobody forced him. Shanyia never had a choice, she was forced by BL to give up all the good in her life and go and live in a trailer with a bunch of felons.

I feel when you force a child to do that then the law should step in when something bad happens.

.

It is all about choices, I agree.

AD allegedly chose to sell her child into sexual servitude. MAM chose to kidnap and allegedly rape and murder that child.

In light of that, it seems strange to me that we are spending so much time and energy criticizing BL's choice in employment, which at least allows him to provide for and support his children.

I put more blame on the mother then BL and I put more blame on McNeil then both of them.

I refuse though to call BL or AD victims.

BUT there is a post on the last thread from Tricia that tell us BL is a victim. So we do have to respect this Forum.

So while I too have expressed myself about it all.
I still respect funerals and find that there is a time and place for everything.

Right, this is a crime thread.
What crime did BL commit?
Bad choices, not a crime.

The crime committed was by an evil mother and a 🤬🤬🤬🤬. IMO

sometimes, and especially in this economy - we don't necessarily have much of a choice in our job

I'm working where I work b/c I have to pay the mortgage & bills
I'm working where I work b/c my husband is laid off
I have to go out of town a lot for my job
If I had a choice, I would be doing something different and I sure as heck wouldn't be travelling

Express your opinion yes but draw the line at trashing please.

The line above is from Tricia's post regarding BL's victim status.
I couldn't say it better, so I just went back to find the line.

I looked but didn't see a video of the funeral, just a clip of BL speaking at the vigil. Is there anywhere I can watch the funeral? I was out all day so I missed it. TIA.

ETA: Found it, nevermind!

There is something strange going on with the site. I looked now and it is gone. Sorry.

Shaniya Davis's funeral was held at Manna Church which is located at 5117 Cliffdale Road in Fayetteville. More than two thousand people attended.

At one point, more than hundred people looked through the windows of the church door because they couldn't get in.

Bradley Lockhart, Shaniya's father, was not scheduled to speak but got up and encouraged the community to not get angry about the situation.

I just wanted to say for Shaniyas sake.
GOD BLESS THE CHILD...
Hundreds turned out in her behalf....And I hope that many more hundreds will take this day to think of what we all want to say to our respective congress man to help make her a catalyst for change.

I agree, his inlaws having to take him to court for child support speaks volumes to his work history. I haven't spent 60 seconds or 50 calories on his choice of employment.

first off id like to say that if anything i said today came off as disrespectful i totally apologize. i believe that painting anyone but shaniya as a victim in this heinous and PREVENTABLE crime is a bit off. while we may not now the full circumstances under which shaniya ended up with her mother, it is evident that it is not where she should have been, and that the adults in her life did not do their jobs. to be angry at them seems fitting. in todays politically correct world, people seem to be more concerned with hurtiing grown peoples feelings than protecting the children whose feelings have been ignored. i for one will not call anyone but shaniya a victim and i will not apologize for being angry at the people entrusted with her well being. i am sorry but that is just how i see things!

rest in peace baby shaniya.

Can anyone explain the motive? I mean, did the mom plan to sell her daughter for drugs or has that not been discussed by the investigators? This case just makes me sick.

I asked a girlfriend today to watch the tape of AD in court. My friend is an MD. She felt pretty confident AD is going through serious withdrawal - the licking of lips, her affect, eye movement, etc. Very interesting how she picked up on the small stuff. Her non-reaction is due to the medication she's been given for the withdrawals. The unborn baby would die without it.

She reminded me that most of us cannot understand what happens to the brain when using hard-core drugs such as crack cocaine. It's an altered reality and leads to being a danger to themselves and children. A person in this state will do almost anything because of the cravings.

There are variable degrees of responsibility when a crime is commited. Many mothers are charged with a crime when they do what BL did. I have no idea if that will happen in this case. None of us know the real reason why BL made the choice he made and LE is still investigating. Sometimes parents bad choices land them in jail. What about the parents who accidently leave their kids in a hot car to die? The circumstances around why that happened is what determines whether the parent commited a criminal act or not. Why BL made the choice he did is still not known.

Besides, we talk about people for years before they are charged with a crime. IIRC, we talked about Scott and Drew Peterson a long time before they were charged.

They took him to court for custody, normally in a custody fight, child support goes hand in hand. They likely did not have to, but did it as part of the court hearings, since they were already there.

Custody battles, unfortunately, I know all about.

She made the choice to begin taking the drugs that she is so addicted to today. She made the choice to continue it.
HER choices led to the death of this baby.
IMO

Child negligence is a crime. I will not be surprised if he ends up being charged.

That has been my opinion, that she was in withdrawal. She looked like me when I checked into rehab. (They made me a tape, so I could see the state I was in, in case I ever thought of going back to it.)

What about MAM? He made a few choices too.

A video and an article about the visitation (we call it a wake in the South) at the funeral home yesterday (11/21).

http://news.mync.com/site/news/story/44291/amber-alert-authorities-search-for-missing-5-year-old-girl/

A line of people formed quickly outside Rogers and Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville Saturday evening, as the visitation was held for five-year-old Shaniya Davis.

Many of mourners who came never knew Shaniya, but said they were deeply impacted after hearing what happened to her.

I have a feeling she had to be clean to get the job she had then along the way between urine test relapsed. Her next sreening would have caught it.

Momof2boys...

Thank you for sharing your personal information. I am so glad that you and your boys are safe now. And thank you for the insight into Cumberland County's DSS. I do wonder if anyone did make a call on Shaniya's behalf but it went unnoticed or wasn't followed up on properly, etc.

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Well, if there is proof out there that shows he neglected his child and his actions caused the mother to do this, then I will agree.

My point since day one is we do not have proof he neglected her. All we know as being facts is what other people have said about him. How do we know those statments are fact and not driven by people who just do not like him.

Are there facts of neglect? Or are people just looking at house values and jobs and coming to a conclusion that he neglected her.

Without facts and proof, I think we should not judge him.

Rumors have been stated as fact for a while now. They are not factual that we know of. Just rumors.
