Hi, Janet!

I've tried to figure out the checkerboard item...I'm not sure that Shaniya was holding it...could it be a stuffed toy/animal of some sort?

Birth dates don't lie. Criminal records are criminal records. Applies to one and all or is it is BL that is to be bashed/sleuthed? Just asking?

Bobbisangel didn't say anything about BL good or bad or whatever.

I think that even if the mother had been hooking she would have kept on doing it and still sold little Shaniya. Think how much some well to do old creep would be willing to pay for a beautiful little five year old girl. The more the mother made the more drugs she could buy.

I don't know if the mother was hooking but I do believe that she was into the drugs. She would have had to have been in order to sell that little girl to adult men. No one in their right mind could do that knowing the damage it would do to a five year old mentally, emotionally and physically.

I just wonder what that mother thought would happen when Shaniya was brought back home all torn and ripped up down below? Did she plan to take her to a hospital..I doubt it. Did she think Shaniya wouldn't say anything to anyone? I just wonder if she knew that Shaniya wouldn't be coming back home alive? I'm beginning to think she did.

BBM.
People sell children Shaniya's age and younger, stone cold sober and in their right minds, every single day. No exceptions, no hiding behind the drugs excuse. The almighty dollar is the most addictive thing on the planet.

Whatever the checkered thing is, Mccneil appears to be holding it and he also appears to be holding a diaper in the other hand.
If you look Shaniya has her hands up away from the checkered thing.
In that first pic, the more I look at it the sicker it makes me, he keeps looking down at her as if he's inspecting. He's one very sick individual.

I felt the same way but it is not going to bring her back. She never had a chance IMO. I pray she is in a better place. It is all we have.

 She is most definitely in a better place.

In my understand the people that do that...Are from remote impoverished areas and think that the children are going on to greener Pasteur's. if they are small they are told they are going to families who will educate and care for them,
if they are teens they are told they will get good work. I never read anywhere that children sold by stone sober families do so knowing that they are selling them into sex slavery. Unless they are stoned out.
I totally agree with Bobbisangel's post.

A pretty common name. This young man is in college at the moment. He does speak of forgiveness after you have gotten in trouble or committed a crime but he is only 20 yrs and seems to be a good kid with a good head on his shoulders.
JUST THINKING :waitasec:
I do question where a young man would get the concept that a felon should be forgiven. just saying....
it makes me wonder what else he was taught? or if he too is hiding a past.
I teach my kids to always go for clean cut folks, to always thrive for better...stay away from trouble,
and if they were to find themselves in a bad crowd not to be surprised if bad chit would happen.
SO IT DID SHOCK ME to hear the kid say we have to forgive felons. Yes he does sound like a nice kid,
but just because he sounds like a nice kid, does not mean he is, or that he is not.
It means we really do not know.

Then pay attention...lol.
Every stone cold sober pimp that sends a 15 year old girl out to work the streets, is a trafficker of children.

It would be so easy to think that parents of these kids are not sober, that they are poor, that they have no choice...anything to tell yourself "Not here, not near my kids, not where I shop, and eat, and entertain myself on the weekends."
That is hiding from it. And hiding from it is dangerous.
In the time it took me to type this, 8 children were sold as commodities.

(the third video is worth it, but is a waste of time for people that are only going to close their eyes to the problem anyway.)

I did watch it and nowhere did it say that SOBER parents are selling their kids.
WE all know what pimps do...and if they are selling their own offspring then so be it.
but SOBER PARENTS do not sell them into a life of sexual slaves knowingly.
Huge difference between being coned and knowing.
We know that some in some villages are so poor and so uneducated that they think
they are helping their kids by sending them off to greener Pasteur's.
But STONED SOBER KNOWING is not the same.

But stone cold sober, knowing the price happens every single day....

It's sad, no one has learned from this. And so, it will continue unchecked, and the problem will grow...and in 20 years, when we are struggling to reclaim this country, if not the world, everyone will say, "I wish we had known about this 20 years ago."

I understand fear, but I guess denial would be the better word.
Just remember, the largest cash industry in the world...drugs aren't needed to fall in love with money...it's sad that people would rather bury their heads.

Oddly, I don't think AD was prostituting herself.
Most definitely not in the streetwalking sense, MOO.

I think she was your basic drug addict, selling what she needed to to get drugs, and taking fronts from dealers until payday. When payday stopped coming, someone suggested her daughter as a payment, and she took the opportunity, rather than have to work it off herself.
If she had been prostituting herself, no reason to prostitute Shaniya...
This is based on the personal fact that drugs usually eclipse shame. With that in mind, it seems to me that if AD were hooking, she just would have gone on hooking, and never offered Shaniya at all. There would have been no thoughts of stopping because she didn't like it, those thoughts aren't there for an addict. Addicts want drugs, and once they've sold themselves for it a few times, the thought processes are linked. They like drugs, sex gets them drugs...why stop?

(I work outreach with local prostitutes and I have asked some of them about this case. Each and every one of them is appalled and shocked and really wants a piece of AD.)
Wow, thanks for your input there. That's very interesting. I've found it very disgusting that she would prostitute her precious child for drugs, and for the life of me I couldn't wrap my brain around why she would do that....actually go through the process of allowing her child to leave her, knowing what was going to happen to her baby. I've heard some panelists speak on JVM that they think that her drug addiction could have caused her to lose or not grasp her maternal bond for her child. MHO is that the maternal bond for her child was never there to begin with. IMO drug/alcohol addiction is a disease, however, I also think that some people are just born NOT to be parents. IMO

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this.
It is a despicable unconscious act on anyone's part to sell a child/teenager.
The knowledge we do have seems to say that people who have done so have been drug addicts, and
impoverished, uneducated, ignorant folks who are told some BS story how it will be a better future for them,
they do it from Love and wanting more for their kids, not from a numbness over their existence.
It is a very sad sad situation. not to be taken lightly. not to be overlooked. but not to be mistaken either
that a sober parent can do such a thing.

Daryl Hannah's Mission: Ending Sex Slavery

11/21/2006

Daryl Hannah tries on wigs to disguise her identity while filming her documeniary on sex slavery.

When most famous actors or actresses wear disguises, it's to hide themselves from over-zealous fans or the relentless paparazzi. But when Hollywood actress, Daryl Hannah, conceals her identity, it's because her life could be in danger. That's because Daryl is going undercover to document the disturbing truth about modern-day slavery. Experts say most of today's slaves are women and children, forced against their will to have sex with as many as 40 men per day.
Daryl Hannah has made it her personal mission to not only rescue these sex slaves from the pimps and madams who illegally own them, but to spread the word about the growing problem by making a documentary about the issue.
Using her own money and resources for the low-budget film, Daryl straps microphones to her body and carries a hidden camera as she travels to brothels around the world. Her goal in making the film is to shed light on the serious issue of sex slavery and save the innocent people being held hostage and raped for profit.
Instead, experts say most of the girls are immediately raped and brutalized into submission. If they do not comply, investigators have seen cases where pimps and madams starve the slaves, burn them with cigarettes, and beat them with electrical cords until they give in. In some instances, the young girls are drugged to keep them from escaping.
It Could Happen To Anyone
Experts say anyone could fall victim to sex slavery -- even Daryl Hannah. She shared her personal story with AMW about how she nearly fell victim to a sex slave operation when she was 17 years old.
Daryl says she had just moved to Los Angeles for college and didn't know anybody in town. She met a girl in a grocery store who made an interesting offer. Daryl says the girl told her she was going with five girls to Las Vegas to model for an album cover. Shel said everything would be paid for; their plane ticket, hotel rooms, food, and clothing. Thinking it would be a great opportunity to meet new people, Daryl agreed to go.
But after they arrived in Vegas, Daryl's senses kicked in. She began to realize she was going into debt to these people and would be expected to do something in return. It wasn't long before another girl tipped her off, telling her that the situation she was about to get herself into wasn't a good one. That's when Daryl realized she was about to be forced into a sex slave ring. Daryl says she and another girl climbed out of a window and escaped.
