Logical, every time I'm reminded again about Shaniya's first weeks of kindergarten abruptly ending, I break down in tears. Why was it no longer a priority for Shaniya to continue school, there is just no good reason for not having followed thru or followed up on that. She wasn't going to learn anything good in Creepy #ellhole.

There is a post where I found that it was Allen who offered and not the colemans and I made that correction. YES they offered to take Shaniya and BL changed his mind.
only a couple of posts up...
I do speculate some of these things because I am looking at the facts and they do not ad up. Girls are not afraid of men unless there is a reason. they do not fear men when their experiences are normal.
I have also listened to this brother sister team and they are not in alignment. I do not buy their act at all.

I will continue to look for Byron's interview and I remember his reference about MAM.

It is OK with me if you give BL a pass...I do not.

Thanks...but, I know that I could give BL a pass with or without approval from anyone....if that's what I chose to do; however, it is not. In contrast, I opt to develop my opinions after reviewing the facts. Thus my constant requests for supporting links, when things are said that I might have overlooked...or not.

I don’t recall reading that Shaniya was afraid of men. What I do recall was that she was more fond of women.

<snipped> http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0911/17/ng.01.html

COLEMAN: Shaniya, she was -- like my sister said last night, she was real giggly. Once she got to know -- she would not go to any stranger, no (INAUDIBLE) at all. She was real giggly, she was always laughing and once you get her talking she would not be quiet. She would talk you to death. She would take every female, my girlfriend to -- female friends that come over to visit, aunts, grandmas, and take them in the back and try to do makeup with them, show them all her toys.

Another quote from BC: <snipped> http://www.essence.com/news/breaking_news/shaniya_davis.php

And, she would have to get warmed up to you, especially males. She was a daddy's girl.

Where did you read / hear she was afraid of men? I would be interested in reading that...it might be something else that I missed...do you have a link to that source? TIA

I wonder if she had "all her toys" with her at the trailer of h//ll??
I don't think she was having fun with "mommy" playing with makeup

Did anyone (BL, CLD) think about Halloween...the year before she had a lovely little fairy costume....did they plan to have her for Halloween?

As for the "weekend" story, CLD ONLY told that one once....she gave different dates...BL's story was different and her story was different

We don't know all the facts...but the main fact I see is a lovely little girl smiling and happy and a child frozen in shock and pain and fear, in the arms of a monster....on her way to her death

who brought her there??? BL told CLD to take her to AD...AD gave or sold her to MAM

this is "elementary my dear watson"..... AD didn't come over to their nice neighborhood with her thugs and kidnap her....AD didn't go and get a court order or custody and have Shaynia there (at first I thought maybe it was a deal like that...where a parent has to share a child with a "bad" parent due to the courts)...

No...they packed her bags and took her over there

Everyoneneedsavoice.....do you have kids? dogs? cats? a bird?

would you take any of the above over to Sleepy Hollow, drop them off and hope for the best???

Has anyone ever said what Shaynia wanted?? NO
We have to be the "voice" for her now...
I refuse to believe that sweet little girl wanted to be in that filthy trailer with druggies
It refuse to believe that happy little girl , so proud and glowing on her first day of school wanted to leave her comfortable brick suburban home, her scooter, her dolls, her toys, her "makeup"...and go to a filthy trailer, never to go back to school again

Shaynia was a sweet little person, she had feelings and hopes and dreams..
she was bundled off and sent there for convenience

IMHO it was negligence pure and simple

Yep...I have kids and a dog...and yes, I would and always do, check out kennels before boarding...and yes, when my son was still at home (he's grown and in college now) I always checked out any and every place he went. And nope...I would never, ever, take my dog or son, even grown, to sleepy hollow...but I am not BL or CDL either.

Not sure where you were going with that because I don't see how my actions reflect BL or AD or CDL. I do, however, agree that there were some extremely irresponsible adults that contributed to Shaniya's demise. IMO, there are just too many inconsistent stories about how / why Shaniya was at AD's for me to blame anyone aside from AD and MAM at this time.

I don't understand the idea of "I am not BL or CDL either"...what about them could make an irresponsible and negligent act ok?

I don't think YOUR actions reflect on them at all....their actions stand alone...and I find their actions irresponsible and negligent

I can't think how it would be OK for anyone...You, Me, BL, CDL...to drop off a child at that horrible place with those horrible people

that is what they did...I don't even need to know why/what day/what they were thinking ....I see the proof in the sad end result

I didn't say that an irresponsible and negligent act by anyone was ok. I just don't judge others by my actions or any preconceived notion of what I "think" I would do...been there, done that. Our opinions are just different...that's all.

  • #687
We all certainly have our own opinions, and I won't argue with anyone about that!

However, in my OWN opinion, there is MORE than enough blame to go around in Shaniya's case. Yes, MAM and AD are the primary murderers of Shaniya, but it's not so black and white. The events leading up to Shaniya's abuse and death had SO MANY checkpoints where someone could have asked a question, stepped in, made a phonecall, ANYTHING...and no one did. I think that's one of the things that bothers me the most.

  • #688
Wow! ITA we all have different opinions. Nobody is likely to change anyone elses.

But, I do want to make a quick comment on little girls being weary of men. My daughter was scared of men from the time she was a baby until around 3 or 4. Now, I was a stay at home mom and she NEVER stayed with anybody else. The only men she was not afraid of was her Daddy and her PawPaws. I know nothing happened to her to make her that way. She was very safe and secure in our home. I don't know if it was because men are just more gruff than women.

So, I disagree with the statement that normal little girls are not just afraid of men for no reason. My normal little girl was.

Just my 2 cents.

While I am not sure there is a way for BL and CDL to be charged with anything I think the "court of public opinion" is well against them

I don't ever want to see them have a "foundation"...or "write a book"...or give "speeches against child trafficing"....the hypocrisy would gag me and I would be the first to protest

I feel the journalists were too "kind" to them..we keep being so kind to negligent, abusive parents and others think it is ok...and that just is horrible

One good thing I think to come out of this COULD be a greater awareness on parents in a similar situation....to file for custody, get a good lawyer...not to take things for granted
I have seen other situations like this....usually tho the "good" parent is FORCED to give the child "time" with the bad parent
an example is little Luke in Florida who was taken out to sea, snatched by his crazy miserable birth father....he was on a court ordered "supervised' visit with the dad, the poor mom wanted him out of their lives...

In this case the frustration is that BL just put Shaynia in this horrible place with not a thought or a care....just mind boggling

Yes, I am quick to "judge">>> sorry I don't sit here and just cry in the chorus...
I would like to see changes in laws....changes in the DCF/child services in my state and all states...or some Federal guidelines and systems

Let's also "judge"what BL and CDL did ....how would we feel if we found out about this and it did not end in murder?? It could have ended tragically so many other ways...
trailer on fire from a crack pipe or "blunt"....home invasion / robbery from someone out to get MAM or Cox (BL's wife and mom of his kids was killed in a home invasion)...given drugs or booze to make her quiet and overdose...take drugs /pills and overdose by accident,,,,
driveby shooting....we have kids killed by driveby/in line of fire in gangs in LA, Miami, NYC...why not here?....drunken/high adult gets angry and beats her....other kids in this bad area beat her up and steal her things....older kid may sexually abuse her....drugged up neighbor runs her over ... anything could happen

What pains me is to think how Shaynia must have felt ...going from a nice life to this horrible Sleepy Hollow...no more school....what horrors did she endure in that "month"> ?
How she must have cried for her daddy and her aunt....no way to call them...
what did she go through?? what did she eat?? did she cry herself to sleep? did they burn her with cigarettes ...again?? did they hit her? yell at her? when did the sexual abuse start?

we saw the horror pics inside that trailer...I shudder to think
even IF it had not turned out this way, BL and CDL had a lot to answer for
no they didn't "think someone would rape and murder her"..but what GOOD could they hope would come for her in that trailer?? and isn't that what anyone wants for kids...GOOD things??

I am in 100% agreement with you. I also cry when I think of those last couple weeks, what her little thoughts were. That pic of her standing so proudly with her backpack on...how DARE they take away her happiness? I could go ON AND ON!!

I agree, Kimberly. I don't have children of my own, but my goddaughter (daughter of my best friend of 25 years...) is a stay at home mother who never lets her beautiful 5 year old out of her site. She goes to kindergarten, where her teacher happens to be female, where they actually have a viewing window (a one way window that looks like a mural on the kids' side but is a window that parents/caregivers/approved etc can show up at ANY time while the kids are there and watch what is going on. And believe me, a lot of them do! I recently spent Christmas with she, her husband (very kind man, but rarely home due to work...) and her daughter. I was playing with her daughter in her room (makeup etc) and she said to me out of the blue "I like girls better." I asked what did she mean? Was there a mean boy at school? that sort of thing. She said "No but boys, well, big men scare me." Again, I asked her why was that?
She said, "They're so loud and they always wear hats." (???) My goddaughter lives in a cold climate...EVERYONE wears hats!
I guarantee (and I am not using that word lightly- I know how well things are hiddden abuse-wise in this world... but I guarantee my goddaughter has NEVER been abused or neglected a moment in her life.

Sometimes little kids just get things in their head, and it takes a little time or work to get them out. Some are afraid of the water. Some jump right in. Some hate carrots. Some go through phases where carrots are all they'll eat.
IMHO- the comment about men means...very little in the end.
What we DO know is how, when, and in what fashion Shaniya was abused and neglected in the end.

So I will NOT gve them a pass.
GLAD that AD and MAM are in jail.
But just as AD gave MAM a child so did the Lockhearts give Junkie AD the child.

JMO and I am sticking with it.
No they did not have a Christal ball.
but did did not have loving care either.

Nothing Brad said means anything to me, nothing his sister said either, there are far too many inconsistencies in anything the brother sister team say. I trust nothing coming from them.

His sons interview is what I am still looking for....And isn't it ironic that Brad came behind him, to make sure the boy wont be talking too much.
As Brad said his daughter was not supposed to say what she said, after she said that Brad had not much to do with raising SD, his girl friends and sister looked after Shaniya.
Yap he is hiding far more then we know, and he was not ever called on all the inconsistencies.

The link to the Nancy Grace transcript that I provided in my post that you quoted is the one with his son, where BL came behind him...and it doesn't say Shaniya was afraid of men.

Like I said, if you have a link to that statement, please share.

Kimberly, there are exceptions to all rules.
If a girl is mostly around females then even a male voice may be a bit foreign to them.
Shaniya was not only around women and her brothers remark as to she would have to get warmed up
to "especially males" (not a quote - still looking for that video) definitely raised a red flag for me.

In December I went to my 4 year old Granddaughters birthday party. It was all girls, for the first 1/2 of the party.
For the 2nd 1/2 the girls families did come to see a show the girls put on.
Obviously there were fathers and brothers and uncles, and cousins, there were many males at the 2nd half of the party.
There were 14 little girls who put on a musical for everyone, not one of them was shy or withholding or
feared any one of the men who showed up. I am around children very very often, I know shy children too.
