Not a good map maker, but where she was found was far away from her home. 20-30 min drive.

Also, a friend of mine spoke to her at 3pm by phone the day she went missing. The police never even talked to him. He lives out Hoover road. Scared the putty out of me when she was found there. Haven't run into him since. Will report back when I do. (I don't think he's involved at all. I think he'd be sick at the thought she was so close by).

It sounds like WPD was on to Bradley early on since they didn't speak with your friend. One would think LE would talk to everyone Shannon talked to around the time she left for the Husk at 3 pm.

Thanks for the starnews link on all those missing from the area. Wow! There are so many!

bbm. I wonder what evidence LE has connecting Bradley to Shannon's murder. Is there any mention anywhere about what links him to the murder other than they worked together? I guess it will come out. I just hope he wasn't an easy target for LE, being a recently released convicted murderer who worked with her, IYKWIM.

My guess is that they have video from the Husk bar, surrounding businesses and homes and traffic light cams that place him in the area. They arrested him the same day Shannon was found. Why not wait for any DNA evidence left on Shannon's body? Oh gosh something just hit me. Perhaps LE was watching him and stopped him so that they could impound the mystery car he was driving and check for Shannon's DNA. Surely Bradley's car has also been impounded and gone through with a fine tooth comb. I hope anyway.

Vannewkirk and Bradley knew each other

Police said Vannewkirk and Bradley knew each other, and Vannewkirk's friends claim the 54-year-old worked with Bradley at Mott Landscaping.

Steve Mott of the landscaping company said he was shocked and devastated when he learned police believed Bradley killed Vannewkirk. He said he never would have expected it, and at first even told police he didn't think Bradley was involved in her disappearance.

According to Mott, police found the remains around a farm that both Vannewkirk and Bradley had been working.

While Vannewkirk was last seen April 5, Mott said Bradley came into work days after disappearance and acted like he didn't know she was missing.

When police came to Mott, showing them evidence they believed Bradley was responsible, Mott fired Bradley who had worked for him for about a year.

Mott said police told him Bradley was interested in and had a crush on Vannewkirk, who had worked for the landscaping company for 10 years.

The landscaping owner said the news is very upsetting and is thinking about closing his business because of it.

I wonder if he told them he buried a body there and they assumed it was Shannon.

If it is not Shannon, and he had a crush on her, what do you bet he killed her too?

I know this is a stretch but Heather Elvis is still missing and this landscaping group did work throughout the Southeast.

Mott is a big name in Wilmington--it goes WAY back. Along with a bunch of businesses named Mott, there is a channel at Wrightsville beach to the ICW named Mott's Channel.

It's hard to believe they couldn't tell by the hair/clothes/size or something! They made a bad judgement somewhere along the line. Shannon's poor family has probably been writing her obit and she's still missing. Did the media cause this or did LE say it? I wonder what they told Shannon's family? Horrible!!!!

Omg. That is terrible! Changing over to news now.

WECT just said that he is still responsible for her disappearance and they think he buried this body there too.

I want to know who found the body and how the body was found?

Your poor friend, zelmajane -- I'll bet he is tumbling his mind over & over and inside-out to try to remember if he saw anything that would now seem suspicious. And yes, I'll bet he is also creeped out. <shiver> Bless his heart.

As to LE apparently not knocking on his door in a canvas, it sounds like they were only waiting for the body to be found -- they must have had pretty solid evidence on their suspect already. MOO.

Now that we've heard/read the high points of the story -- the main parts, not the details -- it sounds to me like they had their eyes on the guy (who was charged with her murder) for a while, and when they found what is prolly her sweet body, they struck right away with the arrest. JMO

We need a mod to please move this thread back because the body found was not hers. Per all news outlets and Wilmington PD.
