He was found on Dec, 13, 2010 in a wooded area by children. Above the skeletal remains was shirts tied into a noose hanging from a tree.

I'm thinking #MP10276 Samuel Louis Bell share many characteristics with this UID.

Bell's DLC was 9/3/2009, and the UID was found on 12/13/2010, with an estimated PMI of 1 year.

Height is very similar - Bell's height is 5' 7" and UID height is 5' 8" (est.)
Age fits the time frame given for the UID - Bell's age in 2009, when he was last seen was 54 years old, while the UID's estimated age range is between 40-65 years old.

I personally think the UID reconstruction looks a lot like Bell, MOO.

New Bern, NC is 262 miles from Statesville, NC.

I don't know the steps to do this, but I did contact the NamUs Regional Program Specialist about the potential match. Unfortunately, I believe she is out of the office at the current time until later in the week.

I actually created a tool I used to make this possible connection, specifically for linking missing persons to unidentified individuals in North Carolina and surrounding states, if anyone is interested. It's a work in progress: NC - NamUs Missing to UID tool - it's best viewed on a desktop browser versus mobile device.
