Through tweets (I finally gave in, tweet-ignoramus that I yam), I found this article -- a bit about The Mother of little Teghan... Seems to be a good source -- I've read it before through links on WS.

http://www.examiner.com/article/mother-of-murdered-4-year-old-teghan-skiba-off-the-hook-but-dead-on

Hello Borndem, Thanks for researching Teghan's mother. Sorry, I've yet to get past the first paragraph that mentions that SOB's "BiPolar issues" but will complete reading the article after this rant: Is anyone else sick to death of the frequency of "BiPolar Disorder" used as an excuse for nearly everything horrendous these days?

Good post, glee! People's lives have been saved by folks doing what you do. We all expect privacy when we are in our own homes, of course, and a lot of bloodshed occurred while some of our ancestors and more recent heroes were fighting for this very right & others, but when you hear someone screaming/abnormal animal cries, etc., it doesn't hurt to have LE check it. We don't want to be a vigilante society, but Neighborhood Watch groups stay within boundaries that you certainly were not breaking or violating.

Keep it up, gracielee. I think a lot of us on WS have acquired a special sense of using our eyes & ears along with common sense, and we, too, have a special kind of radar as you do! There is evil in the world...

Okay, this may sound a bit off or something, but this just came to mind as I was reading everyones posts on 'live/no live feed'. Watch trial/can't watch trial. A couple weeks ago Michael Vick was supposed to speak at the greater Raleigh chamber of commerce 'evening of champions'. I was involved in the protest of that event with a group, 'the positive pitbull'. Over 75,000 signatures were collected on a petition against MV speaking at the event. A lot of people I came into contact with said something like 'he did his time for dog fighting' blah blah blah. I said 'dog fighting was the least of his crimes' and went on to explain the brutal crimes he committed in the torture and murder of dogs. Many people had no idea MV had done anything but back a dog fighting ring. As I was reading this discussion I thought, the same way MV was able to cover up the real crimes he committed, by avoiding trial, avoiding the details, Richardson would be able to do if no one hears what happened to this little girl, Teghan. Richardsons says 'she fell off the bed' & 'I disciplined her for bed-wetting the same way I was punished' and a segment of society can move along, secure in the idea 'these things don't happen here'. We live in rural Johnston County, where Teghan was murdered. I have never been able to drive/ride along these rural roads now without looking at people's out-buildings and wondering 'what could be happening in there?' I scan the countryside for ANYTHING that might appear a bit off. When I walk with my dogs I'm always looking and listening for anything....
Gracielee, You don't sound the least bit off to me. Cruelty is everywhere! Sick, evil people prey on the helpless everyday. Most members of society are unaware of the extent and depth of this epidemic of violent crime. I could go on but I'm sensing myself about to drag out the soapbox.........

Again, Chelly -- I agree with you 100%. I am early-retired and over 50 y/o. Every time I see a diagnosis of BPD or this or that, I wonder -- How did I and everyone else in my generation survive? I know that certain animal feed chemicals & boosters & plant/vegetable nourishment chemicals are present now that weren't when I was little, but really, I do find some of these things extreme, IMO.

"You don't need therapy, just take a pill" or "Don't bother to diet or exercise, just take this pill right before bed and the pounds will drop right off" and on, and on, and on. I know that many of us could improve our child-rearing, or our diets and exercise, but..."

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar; sometimes a 3 y/old's temper tantrum is just his/her way of saying he/she had a bad day -- especially if it's not ever repeated again.

Not well said, I know, but it's not easy to express, A lot of the problems we hear about are very real -- I know it & have seen it, but other times, I am just plain skeptical. Accepting responsibility is something that is not practiced or taught like it used to be....

Personally, I could not handle watching this trial.
Every time I read to catch up on this thread and read the links... I end up crying. It's so disturbing and horrifying to imagine that beautiful four year old child tortured by that monster for TEN days. The fear, the confusion, the excruciating pain... It's more than I can bear just reading it.

That nurse...all I can say is I'm so thankful there are people in this world like her.

10 days?! Where was her mother?

eTA: I see mom was away in training. She actually left her child in a shed with this "man"!

Incredible, but true!

Hey Gracielee!! I live in JoCo also. I want to attend trial but can't get off work. I also tweeted Nancy Grace about this. I know many people don't like her but I figured with her big mouth she could possibly give this the attention is deserves.

A poster asked about his grandparents? Well, IMO they had to know that little girl was back there. The shed was only a few feet away from their home. I know he has gotten away with some things in the past because his grandparents were "good people". You know how things can go around here. If you know the right person. It's time to make him pay for this horrific crime.

RIP Teghan!!

Witness: Teghan, Richardson lived in cluttered, tiny shed

From your article...

On the "neatly manicured" property of Richardson's grandparents, at 750 Old Sanders Road in Smithfield, the then-22-year-old man was keeping the child in a shed that measured 15 by 13 feet and was filled with alcohol, partially eaten food, scattered clothing and human waste, according to the search warrant executed after Teghan's July 2010 death.

Can we get a google street view look at this property?
Can someone post the photo?
I really want to know how large the property is and how far away from the house was this shed.

One faint hope: Maybe JR didn't start abusing that pretty little girl in the first few days.... Let's hope. We'll never know unless the M.E. can tell us.

And I fear we will hear from the ME in detail. This is so horrific

Linda, I googled it. I can't see the shed but the Search Warrant stated the outbuilding is located directly behind the main residence.

At the linked site, you can click on the pic of the home and Zoom in.

Okay, I just checked something out. You can click on the pic I posted and it will take you to the pic I zoomed when I was on Google Maps. You can left click and hold click (mouse) and move the pic all directions. Cool.

There are folks here at WS that are very good with maps. Maybe some one will provide a pic of the shed (outbuilding). It is over my head . . . :scared:

In opening statements iirc it was stated there were old and brand new injuries. I expect the ME to testify to that. It's was a huge point in the opening

IIRC you can look out of the window from the back of the house and see the shed. This wasn't like a Jaycee Dugard type "hidden shed".
