SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A pediatric doctor testifying in the murder trial of Jonathan Richardson on Friday, told the courtroom he "nearly vomited" when he saw 4-year-old Teghan Skiba.

Per the Linked article below, there were no prior CPS investigations regarding Teghan. Teghan and her mother lived with Jonathan Richardson 4 weeks prior to her leaving for New Mexico.

Wake County Child Protective Services had no prior complaints about Teghan's welfare. It began investigating after Teghan was rushed to the hospital, when Johnston County Social Services determined Teghan and her mother had been living in Raleigh with Reyes' mother. Reyes and Teghan had gone to live with Richardson in the barn four weeks before Reyes left for military training, according to Ludwig.

Thanks, Ann-Tx -- I don't think I posted that article, but think I have read some of that info before, but I don't remember the part about the family care plan.

My most recent post upstream dealt a bit more than this one in its mention of family care plan. IIRC, one of her CO's said "Might have slipped through the cracks," or something similar....my azz. Mmmppff.

I do hope the Army had jurisdiction to, and if so will, initiate an Article 32 and then a General Courts Martial for Helen Reyes in this case, but I know next to nothing about how all this works. The USArmy could try her for whatever they can in this horror, but I don't know how double jeopardy might apply here. If she is charged by the Army, so be it.

That monster's grandparents were living in the house. Surely they knew something odd was going on. They could have intervened. They could have saved poor Teghan's life. There is no way they didn't know something horrible was happening on their property.

Why is the media so silent about this case?

My heart goes out to everyone that became involved with this little girl too late to save her.
They will never forget. They're changed forever.

I've always considered myself unemotional and strong but reading the tweets is leaving me raw with anger and sadness. I keep asking myself...how did this happen? Was there anyone who could have prevented the hell this poor child endured? Those injuries....unimaginable

Thanks all for the updates. I had to leave my office. I burst out crying - I had NEVER done this during ANY trial. NONE. This is horrifying. Beyond comprehension. That <modsnip> is lucky I am all the way in Seattle.
