Back on topic: I plan to send some time today emailing, tweeting, FB regarding the live streaming of this trial. I want to know WHY.

I'd like to know why national media is avoiding this trial like it is the plague.

Is there some kind of news embargo?

I figured HLN would be all over this. Where is CNN? Where is FOX?

I emailed above media outlets including Nancy Grace. No responses (didn't expect any), no coverage, no mention in broadcasts. I don't get it!

Speechless, utterly speechless. I don't know how this child's grandparents can live with this. I look at my own grandchildren and .......

Has any other mention of jury reactions other than alternate 'looking sick' been posted? And has anyone stated if any members of Teghan's family were in the courtroom?

No mention of juror reactions. No mention of whether Teghan's family were in courtroom. Reporting is cursory at best. Why do you suppose so little information is being released....even in tweets?

It's a horrifying case. So horrifying the media seems to be steering clear. IMO

Just came across this thread after checking "New Posts" this evening and I'm just appalled with everything about this horrendous story. I usually steer clear of most children's murders since Caylee's murder- I just can't handle it anymore.

Something I would like to know more about, is the attitude of existing prisoners towards incoming child molesters and/or killers of children. We hear a lot about these molester/murderer men being the lowest of the low and good targets for violence from the existing prisoners. (let's say men for now).

I see where, on Mario McNeill's NCDPS record, he was admitted to Death Row/Central Prison in Raleigh on 5/29/13, the same date that he was found guilty in a Cumberland Co. courthouse. He has an infraction on 12/16/13 for "fighting." He is the ~man~ convicted of 1M, sexual offense with child by adult, 1st degree kidnapping of a minor, sexual servitude of a minor, human trafficking of a minor, and indecent liberty with a child -- little Shaniya Davis. Was he jumped by his D/Row roomies, or did he start something? I'm guessing he was jumped due to his horrible offenses -- IMHO only. Will this happen to Zach Holly, if he is ever tried and convicted of rape & murder of a little neighborhood girl in Arkansas? We won't be able to check on that unless it's in the news (doubtful unless he is killed or unless we have an Arkansan on this thread....)

Will it happen to Jonathan Richardson?

If "they" could get to Mario McNeill on Death Row, it seems to me, it could happen anywhere. <modsnip>

I know. I know they have a job to do but how do they go home and sleep at night? Do they have children? I just couldn't defend someone like him. It's horrible. He not only physically entered her but he tortured her with objects. Ugh....give me one hour with him and one hour with the so called mother and I will save NC tax payers some money on 2 trials.

I'm with you there, Landonsmom -- if I were a defense atty, the only way I would defend this person, or one like him, is if I were with the State Defender's Office and I had to to it. I have friend who is with the State Def. Office in a different county than Wake, and she has defended some bad ones. She says the way her co-defenders get through it, is that they have to think about it on Constitutional grounds, according to the Sixth Amendment:
Amendment VI - Right to Speedy Trial, Confrontation of Witnesses. Ratified 12/15/1791


In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defence.

She uses this Amendment to help her feel okay about what she does -- It's a "if I don't do it, who will?" kind of thing. She wants to move over to the Prosecution Team, and she feels this may be a good background for it, and she thinks it may help her when she applies for an ADA position. She's payin' her dues...

And somebody does have to do it. That's all I've got... <smh> Those State Defenders aren't the same (as we have seen at times) as private defense attorneys in a lot of cases, IMHO.

Why aren't the people who "miss her very, very much" in the courtroom? Are they too far away? Are they on the witness list? If they are far away, or afraid of being there, that is a tragedy for those folks. I would think the jury notices these things -- but the number of people in the gallery is not evidence, so it does not count & should not influence them, but I think they notice. Just sayin'.

I think we may see a couple of Teghan's grandparents on the stand -- and possibly Richardson's, too.

I have nearly worn out the muscles in my neck from shaking my head so much. Mmfff. This is the dayamndest case I have ever seen. But I want to see earthly, legal justice done, so I can't stay away.

I'm just following this case peripherally, but I had horrible nightmares about Teghan on Friday night. I simply cannot imagine being there in person and seeing/hearing testimony. I feel so badly for these jurors. They will never be the same again.

UGH.....so she KNEW that little girl was back there???? This whole time all I have heard from their friends is that she didn't know and IF she knew that little girl wouldn't have been living out there?? This makes my blood boil.
