NC - Two Duke Lacrosse Players Indicted

I never understood why Nifong was so quick to charge the boys and why he was so stubborn when it was obvious that he didn't have a case. He just couldn't say he was wrong and he would never have had to admit that if he had taken his time and checked out the entire story. What a dufus...a dufus that ruined some lives and inflamed the entire community.

You don't? Well, adhere to the KISS principle.

All you have to do is watch the DA running around to the Durham projects announcing that these kids were guilty and how he wasn't going to let this injustice go unpunished during an election cycle in which he was behind by double digits. He tapped into the almost hatred that the local poor black community has for that rich white university. That's why. He broke many prosecutorial rules holding press conferences right before the election. This was his chance to regain election or lose to a woman he had previously fired. He didn't want to lose his job.

I don't think Nifrog thought this would be anything but a local case and then he could just let it go piece by piece and slowly but surely. After that, he could drop the case out of the public eye. Except it was a huge story. Peterson effect. He then began having to cover up evidence and not disclose evidence showing obvious innocence of the men. He wouldn't even meet with the lawyers of the accused who had evidence that showed they weren't even THERE. Suddenly, he was faced with trying to continue this prosecution, he couldn't drop it. Even after the DNA debacle, he refused to drop it.

I hope these kids have that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 shaking her money maker for them the rest of her skanky life and take everything that Nifrog owns.

Since Nifrog was removed from the case, new prosecutors were coming into the case and looking over the evidence. It appears that the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and her halftime helper and halftime detractor (the other dancer) are refusing to answer questions from the new prosecution team about the rape. The second dancer would only answer questions under a subpoena. Funny, Nifrog files the case having never talked to the supposed victim and once he is removed and she gets taken to task over her inconsistencies which were evident to everyone from the beginning, she clams up.

Drudge is splashing that a report indicates that the entire case may be dropped in the coming couple of days.

Yeehaw and let the personal suits against this 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and Nifrog start hitting the dockets.

Cal

AMEN Cal!

And again I ask, where are the apologies from the leaders of the black community that were protesting on these boys in front of the house? Where are the apologies from the people who posted nasty signs on and in front of their house?

The saying "innocent until proven guilty" is truly a sham in this nation. It's the other way around.
I wonder if Jesse Jackson continues to pay for the accuser's college tuition.

These boys will never have the same promising future. Their reputations will be forever tarnished. I place most of the blame on Nifong's shoulders.

I also agree that lawsuits should be filed against anyone and everyone associated with this travesty.

Maybe they are waiting to see anything like the same amount of outrage spent on cases where black defendants are falsely charged.

I'm not saying that's how it should be, but I can imagine the reasoning.

Oh, the announcement won't come this week, but it will come. All charges will be dropped. My only question is if they will use the multiple statements of the "victim" to indict HER. I really, really hope they do.

I don't care as much about them indicting the "victim." She cried rape which, unfortunately, sometimes women do for a lot of different reasons - shame, anger, revenge, etc. However, she wasn't the one who has pursued this so shamelessly. IIRC, she hasn't even been around. She's not badgering the police to follow up or the DA to go to trial. She fell off the map.

Even Sharpton and Jackson have stopped singing along with Nifong's tune long ago. He is the only delusional one who took this so far, when it was obvious to the entire world that he needed to step back and take a long hard look at the evidence. He absolutely should be indicted.

I also think the players should look into a civil action against the people who took out the ads in the school paper, and the paper itself. Is this what they're teaching in j-school now? Just what we need...journalists with an even lower standard of ethics than what we have now!!!

Good post. But in fairness to the school paper, was it not to take its cue from the incendiary leaks coming from the prosecutor?

I suppose so, but isn't the rule supposed to be that you confirm a detail with 2 sources? I don't understand how they could just assume in the earliest days after the rape that the entire lacrosse team was guilty of rape! IIRC, they put the players names on there!!! Not even all of them were at the party!

Even if you are living in perfectworld where there are no false accusations and witnesses are never mistaken, how about checking to see who was actually in the vicinity at the time of the "crime." ???

I mean, I thought liberal college professors (who took out the ad) distrusted authority! If it weren't the white male lacrosse team, would they have taken Nifong's pronouncements with a grain of salt? "Gosh, who do we hate more???":waitasec:

OMG, WH-WH-WHAT?

A woman single handedly cursed the lives of these players forever, got them kicked out of school, cancelled the Lacrosse season, got a coach fired, cost the taxpayers of Durham millions to fund the prosecution, cost nifrog his job (soon) all on a patently FALSE CLAIM OF RAPE.

And you don't care if she is indicted? Are you serious?

Am I to take it that you feel it is okay for a woman to cry rape for shame, anger, or revenge for some event? Some punitive action because she was in a bad place at the time? That would be like me saying that if a man encounters a woman in a bar and he had a bad day at work or his wife is ragging on him, it is okay to drag her into the back and just rape the hell out of her.

Staggering? Hopefully you just mispoke.

Cal, I agree with your post, but Nifong could have, and SHOULD have, nipped this case in the bud in about five seconds. Had it not been for his "get them at any cost" attitude, this would never have gone so far.

This type of woman makes it hard to prosecute true rapists. How is a jury supposed to separate between a woman who lies or who is telling the truth?

I also think that this woman should be prosecuted. However, I have a feeling that she won't be because of the black community in that area. I just hope that justice prevails over politics. Only time will tell.

To me, it is more than obviously clear that there are serious problems with this woman's accusations. They were quick to arrest these boys. You don't see them being so quick to dismiss the charges, though. I think that is because they are so afraid that they will be perceived as being biased towards the "rich, white kids."

I wonder how many rape victims will not come forward because of this "woman" crying rape? It pis$es me off to no end. She needs to be prosecuted for making false statements, and Nifong (sp) needs to be prosecuted for holding back exculpatory evidence. I hope NC has a law against what Nifong has done.

Well, you are half right, it was 'keep my job at all costs' with nifrog.

Nifrog and this girl should hang both jointly and separately for what they have done.

Well if Nifong thought what he was doing would help him keep his job, he's sadly mistaken. In fact, its still my hope that he won't even be able to keep his license to practice law.

I don't think it is defending the accuser - or denying the damage she has done - to say she seems very troubled. Nor is it defending her false accusation to say some things may have happened at the party that disturbed her further.

(I will repeat what I said at the time: assembling a large crowd of men to drink heavily and leer and jeer at half-naked women is hardly angelic behavior. That doesn't mean the men deserved to be ruined, but let's don't pretend this travesty was visited upon them at random.)

Surely Nifong - whose job it was to evaluate the evidence objectively and who presumably had the leisure to do so - bears a higher responsibility.

I don't think there's any doubt that many people bend over backward to support an alleged rape victim, in part to make up for the many years when so many victims were ignored or worse. Maybe this case will help restore some balance.

Although it would be nice if newspapers investigated every alleged crime with perfect objectivity, this is the hardly the first case where that didn't happen. I think most reporting tends to support LE, at least until someone makes a very loud case to the contrary.

Per the Vanity Fair article, this wasn't the first occasion where the lacrosse team was perceived as arrogant and a law unto itself. This may just be the first occasion where the charge was untrue.
