Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for TYRONE EDWARD KRANK, who is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment.

Police search for clues in disappearance of 63-year-old Gastonia man

Sixty-three-year-old Tyrone Krank’s apartment door was found unlocked, and all of his things, including his keys, phone, and wallet were still inside.

Family and police are searching for clues after a Gastonia man vanished two weeks ago.

Krank is a stroke survivor who struggles to get around without a cane. Scott says he rarely has visitors, other than his sister, and he rarely leaves his house.

He was last seen by a home health nurse at his house on Oct. 7.

Gastonia man missing since early October

A Gastonia man disappeared from his home in early October, leaving behind his phone and ID and his door unlocked.

His sister came to visit him and found that he was not in his house, but his door was unlocked, and his TV was on.

"I'm thinking he's at Food Lion, that he's taking too long or something," Thomas said.

She drove to Food Lion, where Krank would often walk from his home on Southside Avenue to get groceries. Krank wasn't there.

That night, Thomas called hospitals and the police, but did not find her brother. 

Krank has medical problems that require medication. He also walks with a limp and uses a cane, and he does not drive. He would not have been able to get far on his own, Thomas said.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Tyrone was last seen on Monday, October 7th, 2024, around 1030 hrs. On Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, Tyrone's family noticed he was not home. Tyrone's door was unlocked, his television was still on, his phone was still charging. Tyrone's key along with his cane was missing.

Thomas is left wondering where her brother is — or if he is even alive.

"It's nerve-wrenching at this point because it's too long. We need to know something. We need to know what happened," Thomas said.

He disappeared from his home without a trace, leaving his phone and identification behind. His door was left unlocked. No surveillance cameras captured him leaving.

Krank has ailments that require medications, and he also walks with the use of a cane. He couldn't have gone far on his own, his sister said. He does not drive.
