GUILTY NC - William “Andy” Banks, 39, Raleigh, met someone about selling his car, 12 Sept 2020 *ARREST*

The victims are often found. Sometimes alive. Each missing persons case has differences & similarities. LE knows what they’re doing- even when it seems like things aren’t moving. Best thing is to keep his story in media.
AGREE !!!
The more SM you can do to get his name and story out there, the better !!
A better chance of catching the perps and a better chance at finding Andy.

I think this is allowed....I thought that the Venmo transactions seemed strange to have A transaction titled “Kale salad” at 5am. When I googled “kale salad” many references came back to that being code for drugs. I hate to assume and this is MOO, but I feel that if drugs were involved, it makes more sense why the car was found abandoned. I hope I’m wrong.

I'm wondering if AB has any known links to Danville or the surrounding area where his vehicle was found.

It's a bit strange to steal a vehicle like this and then abandon it.

For that reason, I still think there's a possibility here, albeit a remote one, that AB left the area voluntarily for some unknown reason.

I'm leaving voluntarily missing on the list of possible scenarios for now.

There might be something going on with him right now, financially, personally, psychologically, etc., that his friends and family are unaware of.

He may have impulsively decided to take off and take a break from his normal life.

This would be best case scenario.

JMO.

Agree-- although I don't see any signs on his SM that signals to me missing voluntarily, I never remove that option from my list, even if it is far down on my list.
Just cant eliminate it, yet.

I'm hoping it ends with him being found safe, just needed a break. But the texts to/from burner phone are a red flag to me. Of course, LEO is probably all over this and looks at cell phone messages etc and not disclosing anything to the public.

Hmmm-- which brings me to my second thought I had .
Interesting.
I tend to shy away from Craigs list due to following cases but I have friends who sell and buy everything on CL without issues.

well you know, it could have been a kale salad purchase gone wrong. That would be so very sad.

This is local to me. I was watching the news at 5 when they aired an interview with his brother& parents(?) Nothing new was really said other then what’s already been posted here. Except they briefly mentioned that they didn’t think his going missing was related to an “incident” from his past, they didn’t say what the incident was though. I’m going to watch again at 11 cause I’m sure they’ll replay it to make sure they referred to it as an incident. Maybe it has nothing to do with this but who knows.

BBM:

The fact that his family even mentioned some type of prior "incident" is an indicator that it might be relevant.

"Incident" is a very vague term that can mean a lot of things.

Could be he's had some legal trouble.
Could be some type of prior mental break.
Could be a domestic/relationship conflict.
Could be a prior walkaway or instance where AB went off the grid temporarily.
Could be an altercation with someone.
Could be he's been the victim of theft before.

But the fact that family brought up something in his past at all is telling.

He has 346 connections or friends or whatever it’s called. That is a really high number.

If you're able to post a link to that, I would like to hear it. I wonder what "incident" they're referring to? IMO

If it were drugs, I still don't really understand the transaction. The Range Rover was still a legitimate posting by him. So did someone know it was him selling it and wanted to get to him? Am also so curious about "incident."

I looked for it before I posted what I said earlier but It’s not mentioned in any of the articles. I live in Raleigh so it was on our news at 5pm today. Someone from wral interviewed his parents, brother&sister. It was fairly short. That was the part that caught my attention though. They didn’t say what the incident was as someone above mentioned it could be a number of things. I’ll watch at 11 and see if they have anything new to say.

IMO, if there is an association with drugs (long shot) it makes the outcome more likely that the car sale was something he planned/faked as a way to disappear.

Obviously, I don’t know Andy, but from what I’ve seen, he seems like a pretty good dude.

Since buying/selling cars is something he normally does, I think that that’s probably what he was doing. IMO, he’s not had trouble in the past (unless the incident), so he was comfortable doing this.

He may have been extremely trusting, and he let his guard down. My 25 yr. old son, used to be the same way- refurbishing 4 wheelers and selling on Craig’s list. Always believing people are good all the time. He had a shady altercation a couple of years ago. Now, he has a concealed carry. I hate that we live in a world that this stuff happens.

I do hope that Andy just needed a break and is found safe.

IMO, I'm not buying the drug avenue at all. I still hope he is found safe though.

I will check to see if I find anything.

the record I found matches up to his FB, Linked In profiles but there is one discrepancy that would mean it is NOT his record.
Everything else matches but this one thing so I put a comment in to the website and will wait to see if they can confirm or deny this one item that would prove this is NOT him.

I could be way off here, but I don't feel like his venmo account plays a big part in his disappearance. I use venmo all the time. There are times I pay someone three days after (for my eyelashes or nails). Also you can put anything down you want for the purchase. Me and my friends are always making up silly things knowing we are just goofint and anyone can read them (my account is set to public) so if we are splitting lunch or movie tickets I might put "love" or "roller coaster" 'boat" or just lunch. It is just for fun. If someone ever looked at my venmo there would be many conspiracy theories & everything I do is innocent. Also all of my contacts who have venmo show up as my friends even if we have not interacted on venmo. AB has no control when someone sends him something, they could have waited and sent at that time for any reason. I could send him money tonight, and even if he doesn't access the account it would show up at the time I sent it. It is moo but not sure venmo has anything to do with it, plus most you can send in a week is a rolling amount of $4,999.99, so definitely wouldn't be for the car.
