Caldwell School Officials Tried to Help Zahra

"They utilized every resource within the school and any referral process that was available in the school for the well-being and welfare of Zahra," says Libby Brown, with Caldwell County schools.

Those staff members reported their concerns to the Department of Social Services, who then visited the Baker home.

Ok - they lived here from 7/09 to 10/09 (I know the article says they moved out in early November so I'm going with full months here)

Three months she was kept in an attic. Where is the article about the schools she attended? I want to compare dates here.

BRB - I'm gonna go look for that.....

I think it's a HUGE leap to conclude that Zhara was "kept in the attic" for any amount of time .... especially for 3 months. I do believe that this is the time frame that Zhara was in public school.

I also know that I LOVED my little attic hiding place growing up. I'd read up there, rest, etc. It was so quiet. And it looked far worse than this attic does.

I'm not ready to conclude that Zhara was even IN that attic ... but if she was it may have been of her own accord (to hide from EB ???? to get away from them arguing ?? to read a book alone ??? ) or it may have been AB or EB up there using it as a place to hide drugs.

There's some cryptic messaging going on in here and it was even worse in the last thread. The mods have been a wee bit short-handed and it sure would be nice if y'all would mind the rules instead of push them.

This is a passionate case. Zahra was extra-special and we are ANGRY! We have every right to be angry and frustrated and impatient for justice. And we need to remember to keep the integrity of the forum in tact at the same time. No name calling, no throwing out crazy hints because you think being forthright isn't allowed.

If you have questions about what you can post, the mods are always happy to help.

P.S. Tlcox - I have no words for that one though! :floorlaugh:

WARNING GRAPHIC!!!!!

I don't think they are going to be able to find her full body intact. I don't mean to be gruesome but I don't get why they searching for an actual body. If the wood chipper was used and blood found on it plus death scent there is no other reason for that then the obvious. My theory is that possibly she was killed before the wood chipper came into play her body was placed in one car, then the wood chipper came into play, and the pieces were placed in bag or something and into the other car. I think that pieces flew on the pile of mulch. As for the fire I think they used that to burn their clothes. What they did with remaining body stuff is what needs to be answered. I think they wanted evidence completely destroyed.

They have ruled out the wood chipper more or less.

Earlier this week, a K-9 unit alerted police to a wood chipper on the property. A K-9 unit dog handler told Channel 9 that the hit was not on the wood chipper itself but the engine, and the blood could have come from a cut on a worker’s hand.

http://www.wsoctv.com/news/25389806/detail.html

K9 crews indicated earlier in the week that traces of human remains were found on wood processing equipment in an area where Baker's father once worked, but detectives with the Burke County Sheriff's Office said that is no longer a solid lead.

agreed, and I'm inclined to think that if she was up there as punishment, they'd have heard a lot more than just her "scuffling" around ... :(

Perhaps a Mod could invent a "WS Blooper Thread" :D

TLCox - hope you are okay. This is indeed overwhelming. Just kidding with you, a bit of laughter sometimes goes a very long ways. There is much to be sad about. May God bless little Zahra.

Brilliant idea!!! You always do have the best ideas!!

Ok - I found it here:

According to Caldwell County school officials, Zahra attended Hudson Elementary School at the end of her 3rd grade year, in 2009.
She began 4th grade in August 2009 at Granite Falls Elementary School and stayed there until March 9, 2010. At that point, she was pulled from Granite Falls and placed back at Hudson Elementary School. Authorities believe Hudson Elementary is the last school that Zahra attended.

So, how is it possible that the next door neighbor/landlord never saw her? She was going to school. Now I'll give ya early morning but she came home from school in the afternoon so......................

This is all so very strange.

BBM and going OT - seems to be my MO tonite [angel]

That is a great idea. Even if it did come at my expense.

Neighbors wonder if Zahra kept in attic
Apartment manager saw her once, never again while living next to the Bakers

GRANITE FALLS --
When the Baker family first moved into the apartments on Congress Street in July 2009, Shirley Mims had been the manager for only a short time.

It didn’t take her long to become better acquainted with Elisa and Adam Baker, who were in the apartment next door to Shirley and her husband, Darrell.

“They fought verbally and physically with each other. You could hear it through the walls,” Shirley said. “They’d even take it out into the parking lot.”

It was so bad one time that it knocked the pictures off the wall the Mims shared with the Bakers, Shirley said.

She said the couple began fighting about three weeks after they moved into the apartment.

As for the now-missing Zahra Clare Baker, Shirley didn’t even know the couple had a daughter.

Sorry, but they made that little girl stay in an attic. Whoever would do this sort of thing isn't human.

Zahra used to attend Hudson Elementary until this year. Dozens of Zahra's former teachers and classmates attended (the vigil tonight). "To see her leave, its just really hard for all of us," said 10-year-old Alliy Merkwa, fighting back tears.

Merkwa was in fourth grade with Zahra last year, and says the two were close friends. "I've been crying myself to sleep every night," she said. Merkwa said she will always remember Zahra for how happy she was, and how everyone gravitated around her in the playground. "She was always there for you, she never judged, or criticized, or anything," she said.

I can tell you one thing - if I'd ever caught my new spouse abusing my child like that, you'd not only be able to hear me through the walls. You'd be able to hear me in the next state!

If I had a child and someone I invited into their lives abused and killed them (and I had no other children to care for) I literally would kill them and then myself.

To me that is part of the reason I know biodad is involved in this situation. You don't in one day go to working with LE and saying on GMA that your spouse could certainly be involved. And if your spouse to your shock and dismay kills your child the LAST thing you do is help stage the cover up.

If you are a more rational person than myself and did the "right" thing in that situation you would call LE, not be involved in ransom notes, brush fires, and kidnapping calls 12 hours later.

Shades of Cummings once again, the dogs could hit on a bloody bandaid in a dumpster. It's not sounding to me like she went through a chipper.

A blooper thread would be fun! But some might get their feelings hurt.

Oh my gosh, I've made the worst bloopers and many of you have seen them. :loser:

Oops. Off Topic. Can't talk about my mistakes. :D

I agree tehcloser. It's almost like they are trying to "one up" each other.
I hope that's what it is anyway.

I really HOPE and PRAY Zahra did not have to go through all the stuff that's coming up. In my heart I know she suffered on this Earth, but some of this is too cruel to even imagine. IMO

Where is beautiful little Zahra???

This is all so very strange.

I don't really find it strange. When investigators arrive at the scene of any crime one of the first goals is to separate eye witnesses. Why ? Because if not they feed off each other "Oh yeah I saw him punch him!" "Punch him, that guy had a KNIFE he was going to cut him!" "He did cut him. I saw it!!"

It's no different than with media cases. People get caught up in the hype and all of a sudden noises heard only one or two times become regular. And only noticing the child every so often becomes hardly seeing them ever.

I hope I'm making sense. I know in my head it is.
