Police getting medical records of missing girlBy the CNN Wire Staff

Hickory, North Carolina (CNN) -- North Carolina authorities have been in contact with Zahra Baker's biological mother in Australia and have asked for the medical records of the missing 10-year-old girl.

"We're in the process of getting medical information from Australia, and we're in the process of getting medical records here," said Clyde Deal, the deputy police chief of Hickory on Monday.

I guess since they know with 100% accuracy who a birth mother is in this case they can use Mitochondrial DNA to search for Zahra's DNA on bedding, clothes, etc. or if a body is found. Plus I've heard it's an easier process and doesn't take as long. It is interesting though. Does indeed call into question is AB didn't offer his DNA or if there are doubts as to if he really is the bio father. Maybe the marriage broke up due to infidelities.

But there is no donut shop next door to the Baker's house. There is one across the street (127) about .3 miles from Clark Tire a little. I can't imagine how they would have seen into the backyard IMO. :waitasec:

Sorry if I'm being obnoxious, I've been MIA since last Friday and I'm catching up! :blushing:The donut shop, Daylight Donuts/Bistro 127, just moved a week or two ago into the old Club 127 North building, which is next to Clark Tire.

Also, Wise Old Owl, I checked out the inlet you were curious about.

That water is way deeper than it looks from the aerial view. Evidently google maps took those shots when we were in a worse drought than the one we are in now. A boat could easily ride under that bridge. Now, the houses are fairly densely packed into that neighborhood--there's not much room for outside access, but that woodsy area you see at the very bottom with what looks like a toolshed is actually a board walk for wilderness viewing and it is accessible to the public as part of Glen Hilton Park. It's a very dense marshy area. HTH.

*sigh* They cannot be smart enough to totally disappear a car and a girl!!!!! I just won't believe that! They did this, and there has to be mistakes! There just has to be some sort of break soon!!!

Well...one would think so. But look at MC and RC and company. I definitely didnt think they were all that smart either.....how long has it been, and still no Haleigh? I sure hope its different in this case.

Ahhh that makes sense. I was just over there last night and didn't pay attention. Daylight had been in the same spot forever. Sorry WS'ers for giving you bad info.

No worries.

I see you are local!

O/T, but I'm glad they got into a bigger shop. I'm a die-hard Krispy Kreme girl but I love dinner at Bistro. Their Thai chicken pizza is to die for.

If people knew how wonderful the posts get after midnight, they would stick around longer.....and learn to take daytime naps.
But we do know.......... we still get to read them, no matter what time of day they were written...........LOL

Yes, I think so.

I still doubt they saw someone playing with a lighter though. JMO.

Good morning all :)

Perhaps EB was outside lighting a crack (or weed) bowl in the back. If it was windy, that would explain it *looking* like someone was playing with the flame on and off again. JMO

Monday, investigators could be seen leaving a donut shop right next to Zahra's house.
The manager says a donut maker saw someone playing with a lighter on the Baker's back door the morning Elisa Baker reported Zahra missing. But, it was dark and the donut maker couldn't see who it was.

just bumping this up... based on the time of the fire (0500 ish in the morning) I would think the donut maker would be there working.

Obviously the donut maker saw something or why else call in the tip? I tend to believe it.

Yes, great work pulling all that.

I just can't even wrap my brain around her having that long of a rap sheet and that many aliases.

Don't know if this is relevant, but when I was leaving school 15 minutes ago I could hear a helicopter in the background. The school is 4 1/2 miles north from where I am now.

I really don't trust anything that CNN reports. This could very well be two separate statements just lumped into one sentence. We know LE have been in contact with the biological mother and we know they have been in contact with the grandmother. But CNN is likely just reporting it now. They are also reporting that LE have requested medical records for Zahra. I just don't think the two statements really go together. That is typical of CNN reporting.

I don't think they can get Zahra's medical records from her biological mother, maybe not even her grandmother. They will likely get them from her doctor(s), with the proper paperwork.

Why do they want them? Maybe they are speculating, as we have, that she died from neglect regarding the lung cancer that was in remission. A poster here posted some interesting information regarding that. Of course we can't be sure if that info is correct but it appears that her prognosis was pretty dire at first according to this poster...

Zahra should have been getting medical care in the US, six month checks at least, and LE is also requesting any medical records that she may have had in NC. If there aren't any, and she was ill with a "stomach virus" for the days preceding her disappearance according to AB, then she could have died from a return of the cancer and medical neglect on the part of her parent's. Although the account of the furniture store employee had her looking fine two weeks prior to her disappearance so who knows.

They seem to be discounting a lot of initial blood evidence so they might believe that this was not a bloody crime. Of course there are lots of ways for someone to be murdered without a bloody crime scene but they have to keep all options open IMO.

The hits that the cadaver dogs appeared to get from the vehicles could be from cadaverine transfer on clothing that someone who was in contact with a deceased body was wearing. The warrant did not specify what location in the cars they were hitting on. Could have been the seats.

I wonder if they've had the dogs check the clothing in the home.
