I grew up in a home with a drug addict mentally ill mother who beat the snot out of me on a whim and was an emotional nightmare, and her boyfriend choices tended to be child molesters (or physically abusive as well).

When he said that I did have an automatic flashback to all the times I heard my mother describe me as spending all my time in my room. I would come out for meals, to do my chores, and then right back to the sanctuary of my room. I was not allowed to have a TV in there, but I still spent all of my time in my room. I was technically allowed out, but it made my heart hurt for her.

This is just my opinion but the 911 call to me just proves what LE has been saying all along. Inconsistencies. And those inconsistencies do not support an innocent man. Simply put this is a display of CYOA.

Remember, they both live in their own little world far beyond the needs of their own children or even our laws. So their stories make sense to them. EB especially seems to think anything she says is liquid gold and we will believe her b.s. stories. How else can she do something as stupid as write a ransom note like that? AB is just following right behind her except he doesn't even try to think before he opens his mouth. It's no wonder LE feels the way they do.

I totally respect the feelings others may have about AB not being involved, I just can't do it myself.

NOT defending just being devil's avocate, giggling can be due to fear/nervousness it isn't always about being funny (particularly if EB was nagging him) and he may also have been numb.

I can be numb and practical in a crisis, then fall apart afterwards, it is quite common.

Yes, I can see what you mean. My gut has always been that he's guilty.....so I tend to argue that way.

First of all...that girl was no where NEAR puberty!! Second what a completely inappropriate thing to say???
She stayed in her room because a) SM did not want her around and b) because she was probabaly terribly homesick and depressed!

I could really not believe my ears when I heard him chuckle!!

But then he tells LE he has not seen her since THURSDAY!
Liar LIar pants on fire!

Daddy is hiding things!!!!!

But..... If he is so slow and may have some form of Autism she could of worked him. We all know what to say to our children no matter what age.
Which I guess I just fell off the fence.

Who said he was slow? I know what to say to my children and they only listen when they want to. If they are in love Forget It! LOL

I'm not on the fence by the way. I think the Dad knew about the abuse, all of it :-(

Was he driving the car? Was this the same incident where EB was threatening someone with a taser?

As per the neighbors... are they the same ones who said they suspect Zahra was living in the attic? I don't believe they are credible witnesses. The attic pictures don't look lived in. I feel like they were looking for their 15 minutes.

The rest of the points just support my theory that EB was in charge. He happily handed all the responsibility over to her. I never said he was a good person or a good father. Just that he might not have been responsible for Zahra's disappearance.

Yes he was driving, according to the complaint.
Yes it is the same incident with the tazer.

It is the neighbor with the attic theory, and yes I agree that they are wrong in their theory, but I believe that they fought and carried on (and used the attic space to hide their drugs). Just because their theory about living in the attic is flawed, doesn't mean the rest isn't correct.

Everyone has said the wife has a temper and loves to fight. I hardly think her husband was exempt from that temper and fighting . We know Z was. And everything in my life has shown me that when people act like that in public it is a small glimpse of what they are like behind close doors.

I don't believe he is a victim or a bystander. He is part of the dynamic. MOO of course.

LE had to know there was another person in the house the found THREE passports

When was the search warrant executed? They wouldn't have known that the passports were inside the vehicle until they had a search warrant to enter the vehicle IMHO.

I don't think they entered the vehicles after the fire immediately? Just a thought.

I still can't get the fact that he said Tuesday in the very beginning out of my mind...may have been an honest mistake, but it bothers the h@ll out of me.

By doing nothing, he hurt his daughter.

Were those found at the first 911 call for the fire, or during the search warrant for the missing child call?

When Adam broke down in tears was this before OR after it was announced that his wife wrote the ransom note?

Hi Patty....I think someone already answered this but it was on Monday or Tuesday morning news broadcast. I'm thinking Monday, sorry I can't say for sure.
The most awkward part of the interview was when AB broke down in tears (it was so sad to watch) and the Chief of Police turned to stare at him but did not offer any movement of comfort to him. It lasted several seconds and the officer did not reach out at all....no pat on the back, or touch of the arm, nothing. It was extremely noticeable. I felt, at that moment, LE thinks he's guilty.

Its also the same interview where the Chief refused to say that AB had been cleared as a suspect....and of course, AB was standing right there beside him.

I just found this article, which gives more explanation of EB's larceny charge than I've seen anywhere else. It also indicates she *did* have a job around the beginning of this year.

http://www2.morganton.com/news/2010...igation-focuses-morganton-business-ar-453178/

"Zahra’s stepmother, Elisa Baker, was charged with obstruction of justice on Tuesday morning after she admitted to police that she wrote a ransom note found on the couple’s car Saturday. Baker is being held on that charge, along with 15 additional unrelated charges, on a total of $72,000 secured bond. One of those charges is larceny in Burke County. Courthouse records indicate Magistrate Christopher Duckworth issued a warrant for Baker’s arrest on Feb. 1 for larceny by an employee. The complainant listed is T. Campbell of the Glen Alpine Police Department. The warrant claimed Baker took a Kirby Sentra vacuum cleaner from JC and Associates, her employer at the time. Her Burke County court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 1."

as to the puberty comment sounds like something he heard from a woman (read EB) perhaps as an excuse as to why Zahra was spending so much time in her room of late.

Most men when confronted with talk about his tween daughter and the approach of puberty/menses (and as the mother of a ten year old who is recently very broody, whiny, and in general being her least lovable self lately I can attest to ten year old attitude!) will immediately end the conversation in discomfort. Perhaps this is how EB got him to change topics if and when he did inquire about why Zahra was alway in her room.

could be wrong, just throwing it out there. And certainly not mitigating AB's apparent knowledge of EB behaving badly towards Zahra. I am very uncomfortably with how, at the very least, "disconnected" he seems to have been with what was going on in his beautiful little girls day/life.

I was talking about his mother letting him take her to the US. She would of known the way he parent.
I totally agree Big Daddy Baker knew what was going on with the SM.

Oh i think he is involved but i dont think he hurt his daughter. He maybe tried to cover it up... It seems to me his wife did alot of things that maybe Adam had not clue to! Maybe she was looking for a new hubby online also.

I don't think he physically hurt Zahra, I just think he either did nothing to stop it or once he discovered she was dead he helped to cover it up. Maybe thinking "I'm not going to lose both my girls?"

Interesting..in one article that I read today (I'll have to find the link) the landlord of the mobile home said that when they moved in she stated that she was disabled and received $500 and some odd $ monthly. It didn't say whether he ever saw any proof of that though..

Those things are worth thousands aren't they? I have a family member who used to sell them many years ago and I was blown away by the price.

That would be something should could throw up on craigslist or Ebay to get some good money. Or even take to a pawn shop for some quick funds too.
