On the local news (WSOC), reporter Dave Faherty said LE had pulled a second mattress from the landfill and were checking it out (if the video they showed was of that particular mattress, looks like that wasn't the one they were looking for).

Considering they've now pulled two from the landfill heap, I'd say it's a safe bet that they are indeed looking specifically for a mattress.
thanks Sherbie! Also explains why the mattress they pulled from the house looked so new (like recently replaced).

I bet someone either saw them buying a new mattress or throwing the old one in a dumpster.

Update with reference to second mattress

On Thursday, searchers used a track hoe to dig into a 60-yard section of the landfill. At one point, they spent about 15 minutes focusing on what appeared to be a mattress. Minutes later, they looked over a second mattress.

The mattress from her room must have been new(er). Why else would they be looking for mattresses?

But is that fair?? This is a standard way of starting a phone conversation in Aus., at least with my friends and family.

Fair? IDK, we have had others from Oz say it was NOT a normal way to start a conversation. So who knows....but we are ALL human, and your child is missing, that should make you freak out! Especially if you think that someone TOOK your child because of the um..."ransom note".

I don't know why but I'm thinking LE may have told him not to go for some reason. They are calling the shots with him IMO right now.

I was thinking it might have something to do with whatever happened when he and AF showed up for a visit prior to the hearing. Someone is trying to keep AB and EB apart.

Is it LE, her lawyer, her family or AB himself? :waitasec:

Any locals viewing this thread?
I am curious re: getting rid of a mattress in Hickory. Do you have to haul it to the landfill, or take it to a dumpster? That would require, well, planning and effort, relatively speaking, to physically dispose of a mattress away from your home, even if it is just twin-sized. I wonder if they dumped a mattress at the mobile home park?

*respectfully snipped*

Oh and add to that, if AB thought EB was this monster that killed his child....he would have been at that hearing yesterday to make sure she stayed put. So either he's still blind, which I don't believe or there was another reason he didn't show up.

How about the DA advising him that his presence is not required? I'm still not sure he and Zahra are in the country legally (would love to know one way or another) as I have an Australian friend who has been in the States illegally for about ten years now. That, combined with his outstanding charges, make him a less-than-credible witness when compared to her biological daughter.

I got to hear Zahra speak last night on a clip on NG show (I didn't watch all of the show had something else to do).

She has the voice of an angel with a soft australian accent. Bless her heart.

Good morning friends

I've been wondering if ZH actually DID have a stomach virus. Has that been something going around in that area if any locals might know? It could be that AH neglected ZH and she was seriously ill with a stomach virus and died from dehydration while AB was out of town working.. Kids with stomach flu need LOTS of water throughout the day and I doubt that AH could be bothered with any of THAT during her day..

After this, the cover up and the kidnapping plan were born. Because if she died due to a stomach flu, it would have been easily discovered by authorities, and it would be known that ZH was being grossly neglected by AB..

Just a thought that I had today.
Have a beautiful Thursday all!

So if they are looking for a mattress, let's see how that fits. AB says he saw her Thursday night. So somewhere between Thursday night and Sat. afternoon at 2ish, EB kills her, manages to drive both vehicles, gets a new mattress, dumps the body and the old mattress, keeps AB from seeing any of this, gets up, stages a fire and a ransom note, keeps AB from checking on Zahra at that point, waits until he comes home from checking on a job, comes screaming out of the house that she's missing, convinces AB that the kidnappers took the wrong girl ....naw. That just does not flow right for some reason to me.

I don't think he saw her on thursday. that is just my humble opinion. ((I agree it does not flow at all!))

Do we know that both vehicles, or either vehicle for that matter, hold any sort of significance in the case? Yes the police seized the vehicles, but have we seen anything that suggests they've been proven to be involved somehow?

Or he was just confused as to why his wife was insisting that he make the call when she usually did everything for him/them. Why she didn't already make the call when she first noticed Zahra missing. Why she waited until he got home to tell him and didn't call him on his cell phone. Why she was insisting that he call and to make sure you tell them about the "drama" from the night before. Why she was okay with reporting the fire but was telling him to call about Zahra being missing. He is new to the country and hasn't called the 911 emergency number before...that we know of. I wonder if he ever had to call when he lived in Oz?

Could go either way really.

I just thought I'd mention.... that someone stated they sighted AB in walmart the other day with a young woman (around 20) who had dark hair with blonde streaks in the front.

I suspected at that time it was either BS or AF .....
Is the person still posting ? Have they seen AF in the testimony video ? I'm curious if he WAS with AF (and would also like the speculation that he already is taking up with a "new woman" cleared off the slate if possible)

Here are the posts from the WS member who "allegedly" spotted Adam in Wal-Mart on October 19, 2010. I have to use the word "allegedly" only because there is no link via MSM and more then likely the media didn't spot Adam.

Not for me either. If they find a mattress, perhaps with a young child's prosthetic leg concealed inside, in that landfill and it got there anytime before October 9th, he's involved. Simple as that for me.

I'm about two hours away and can say for certain there is a respiratory virus in this area. I lost 4 days work and had to visit a doctor whom gave me antibiotics and prednisone. I was told if that didn't work I'd need those drugs IV. I know several people who have been affected and had to see doctors.

and yes I wash my hands regularly. :)

For anyone just catching up, here's WCNC's noon video - nothing new here, some stuff on Team Adam, overview of case, etc. etc. - but informative.

I thought she was charged with obstruction of justice?

And even with AD's multiple horrific charges, her bond was $50,000.

Yes, EB has been charged with that but without proof of anything more, ie, murder, kidnap, parental intereferrence, etc. the charge is a minor one. Not to worry tho, I honestly don't think EB has money sitting around in an account in the caymens somewhere. And it certainly doesn't look like her family is planning to hold any fundraisers to raise her bail. Methinks EB is going nowhere soon.

OT - as you know, like most others who followed that case, IMOO the AD bail was a joke!
