Just wanted to toss something out...I apologize in advance if someone has mentioned this. I have yet to catch up with this beautiful little girl's case. In fact, I tried to stay away from it because I always find myself getting too attached and heartbroken.

Anyway - looking at the last picture (with bandanna) she looks very sick. If she wasn't being schooled the way she should have been, it stands to reason that she may not have been receiving treatment the way she should have been. If (and I don't know) the parents were receiving some form of benefits for Zahra, and she progressively got sicker and passed away...do you think there's a chance the parents wanted to cover it up so as not to lose the benefits?

Perhaps some sort of disability/SSI/whatever it's called. (lol)

The thought is horrible, but it's something that crossed my mind as I was reading a few of the pages here. Poor baby - what a beautiful smile she has in spite of such a difficult life!!!

This is my first post on Zahra's forum as well, but I have been having those exact same thoughts. I wondered if it was possible that her cancer had returned and she died due to their negligence in getting medical care for her. That would be inexcusable, and something they would have most definitely wanted to cover up.

Then on the flip side, from what I have seen of these people so far, I wouldn't put it past EB to actually have murdered her. They might have thought if they waited long enough to report her missing, the body would have deteriorated to the point that no cause of death was possible to determine (as with Caylee Anthony). Then they could claim that she just died (cancer) and they had nothing to do with it. Sick, sick people either way!

ETA - if you followed any of the Michael Riley case from Massachusetts, it really makes you wonder about Zahra's case. Michael Riley and his wife Carolyn took their kids "doctor shopping" until they found one that would diagnose their kids with ADD and prescribe powerful drugs to sedate them. He made a career out of getting them diagnosed with all kinds of disabilities and collecting benefits of every kind. Their youngest, Rebecca, died when they overmedicated her with Clonadine (which they had been doing on an ongoing basis as well) to "shut her up" because she was coughing so much her "parents" ( I use that word very lightly) couldn't sleep. Her lungs were filling up with fluid and she had gotten progressively sicker over several days and they did not seek medical care for her. If you haven't read about this one, google it. It was awful, and it just might have some parallels here.

I just watched it and there was nothing new there. We here at WS already know everything they reported.

Trying to catch up on the new thread. I haven't read all the posts but wanted to toss some questions out...

Has anyone been able to confirm whether or not this baby ever saw a MD in the states for her cancer? Last time we discussed, there wasn't any confirmation. We assumed she's had no medical care to speak of.

The footage of her receiving free hearing aids was taken when? I thought it was this year, May perhaps? If this is correct, she appeared relatively healthy then.

Most 10 year old children have already lost their front teeth. Her teeth in the video footage appear to be her permanent teeth - not baby teeth.

Without steroids and/or chemo, a recurrence of cancer wouldn't cause edema of the face. Nor would she be losing hair. Weight loss is possible, as are fevers and general malaise, but her primary teeth wouldn't just fall out at random, nor would she suddenly become swollen (generally speaking, of course).

Good morning all. Let's hope today is Zahra's day!

Paige, regarding what I bolded above, due to federal HIPAA privacy laws, plus the fact that we're talking about a minor, I highly doubt we will ever get confirmation of this from any physician who may have seen/treated Zahra. If it comes up during a trial perhaps that kind of information could be released but for the time being we may have to be ok with not knowing 100% either way.

I am almost positive in criminal investigations HIPAA doesn't apply like it does otherwise. So, while JQ Public isn't privy to the details of such treatment, LE *could* confirm she's been treated in the US (without divulging what the treatment was for or who rendered it). And b/c she's a minor, AB would have the right to release her med hx/records to LE. I believe the MD's are obligated to come forward in criminal cases regardless of HIPAA, to be honest.

I just don't believe ZB was treated. What would EB/AB have to gain from such human kindness?

My youngest daughter had Lymphoma - one of the symptoms was bruseing with very little cause.. The chemo was awful, and caused her to get Lukemia, which is being treated with blood transfusions.. I wonder if Zahra developed Lukemia, which left untreated caused her death..
Then EB got the bright idea to stage a kidnapping in which Zahra would be killed, thereby absolving them of her death by neglect..
Just random ideas of mine thrown into the pot..

Dear locals, what is your weather like???

Any signs of a search again?

I hope LE kept interagating those 2 all night!

Problem with that is that EB had been racking up charges again under her new married name. Seems to me that she was trying to keep under the radar. We still don't know if AB and ZB were here legally but after reading the great posts from BritsKate and NancyA regarding immigration requirements, I have to believe that they weren't. And of course AB was racking up charges of his own. Does LE check for immigration status when filing these reports and laying these charges or does that all have to come out at the court date? Of course they both missed those.

So you've got AB likely working under the table and now ZB pulled out of school. They don't exist according to any government agency. They've moved 5 times and the cars they were driving weren't registered to them. EB's specialty...staying one step ahead of the law.

Taking a sick child to a clinic or hospital wouldn't have been something she would have wanted to do I would imagine. It would have blown her cover.

Not saying I believe this is what happened but I can see how it might have.

MOO

BBM,
My understanding is that local LE can 'check' immigration status but I think it could only be acted upon on a federal level, e.g. ICE. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong but that's my take. Allowing LE to check immigration status is a relatively new process though according to this link:

http://www.nationaldefensemagazine....kDetainees’ImmigrationStatusCausesConcer.aspx

Just wanted to add though if he did apply for a green card the charges against him could easily have warranted a denial and probably would have done. As Nancy pointed out the paperwork and cost involved is enormous. Now, I moved from the States to the UK so there is some difference but just to give everyone an idea what should be involved when removing children from their native country:

- I had to undergo a 6 month long GAL investigation and half a dozen court proceedings requesting permission to remove my children from the country despite me having sole legal and physical custody.

- Passports for three - roughly $450 - had to submit affidavit and court docs to receive kids passports (and apply in person) due to fathers refusal to sign.

- Roughly $1000 to secure 6 month visas, $2000 airfare, $2500 for spousal (2 year limited residency) visas, and about $4000 to have our belongings shipped from the States.

- Had to travel to the UK prior to relocation to 'study' schools, crime rates, etc, document, and submit to the court. Had to go through a background check and submit six months of bank statements and my husband who sponsored us had to do the same and prove he owned our home. I can't stress enough (especially with Nancy helping out!) what a grueling, invasive process it all is.

Sorry if O/T but IMO because I was removing two minor children from the States I was duty bound to do whatever the US courts and UKBA requested of me...and it infuriates me that all the safeguards that should protect children from this type of scenario seemingly fell through. Simply put, Zahra should not have been allowed to leave Oz...and I believe had she not none of us would be discussing her now. :(

If you look at this picture, you can see that the canine (eye) tooth is still a primary tooth. According to wiki, permanent canine teeth erupt between 11 and 12, so the missing canine is easily explained away without nefarious means.

Here we go, found this in the Q and A section about co-sponsors - http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864.pdf

"What Is a Joint Sponsor?

If the person who is seeking the immigration of one or more of his or her relatives cannot meet the income requirements, a"joint sponsor" who can meet the requirements may submit a Form I-864 to sponsor all or some of the family members. A joint sponsor can be any U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident who is at least 18 years old, domiciled in the United States, or its territories or possessions, and willing to be held jointly liable with the petitioner for the support of the intending immigrant. A joint sponsor does not have to be related to the petitioning sponsor or the intending immigrant."

I wonder if maybe EBs father was the co-sponsor. That could also be part of the falling out.....if they never followed through with the legalities once they got into the US.

I am only a part-time local but it is cloudy and damp and will probably rain again before too long if I had to guess. ;)

I'm about 2 hours away. Weather is slighty overcast but not raining at this time, although showers are forcast through the day.

On the affidavit of indigence that accompanied her request for a court-appointed attorney, Baker listed her monthly household income as $600 from husband Adam Baker's job at Real Tree Services, and $200 from additional income such as food stamps or child support.

WTH was step-mom doing furniture shopping?

She had online supplements from men she was talking to, no?
And was a known drug dealer?

She reported 800 a month to survive, that is not what they were living on
