I hada thought! EB never put down "child support" on any papers she filled out for foodstamps or any other aid!!
So how much was this alleged child support that Zaharas mother was paying!!!!

I don't know. But obviously EB would try to hide whatever income she could if she was applying for financial assistance. So the absence of it on the forms does not mean, to me, that it didn't exist. JMO

I hope LE got something from the bedding found in the company vehicle. Maybe the hearing aids were worn by Zahra when she was alive, but she was carried out of the house in the comforter. Doesn't make sense to me why they would have called the fire dept before the vehicle was burned though.

Not directed at you vjlaw but just jumping off your post.

I don't believe it is known what items in the search warrant came from which vehicle.

After hearing some of the things we have after that search warrant was posted, I'm beginning to think that there was very little recovered in the Tahoe other than the blood samples, burnt samples and the gas cans bacause it was a work vehicle and that most of that stuff was probably in EB's car.

Since we now know that EB was telling AF for some time that she wanted to leave the state, perhaps the other items were found in her car. Perhaps she was preparing for a road trip herself. Toothbrushes, hairbrush, comforter and pillows, papers with phone numbers, pink jacket? Here is the rest of what was in the warrant...

According to the search warrant, the items removed from the Chevrolet Tahoe and Toyota Camry include: Duke Power bill, numerous papers with writings and phone numbers, assorted receipts, (3) passports with paperwork, (2) toothbrushes, hair brush, assorted ink pens, (2) lighters, (2) pillows, sheet, comforter, (3) gas cans, (4) burnt samples from Tahoe and brush pile, pink jacket, plastic bowl with green vegg. matter, assorted drug paraphernalia, Chinese take-out menu, 1990 Burgundy Toyota Camry, latent lift, photos, and Chevy Tahoe.

Either that or EB was just one of those people who never cleaned out the junk that accumulates in their car. But I doubt a lot of this was found in the Tahoe. She could even have taken the Duke Power bill out of her car, wrote the note with a pen that was in her car, and then locked up her car. If the pen that the note was written with was locked up in her car it would sure send up a red flag to LE.

And the discussions regarding EB's stories about pregnancy, etc are a real eye opener. No doubt Zahra probably wanted to return to AU and likely voiced that to at least her father. Perhaps there was some discussion about the possibility. There was likely no way EB wanted to return to a town of 400 people in AU so if EB was trying to hang on to AB and prevent him from leaving her, making up outrageous stories to manipulate him to stay would not be out of character for her it seems. She may also have been holding his and Zahra's passports, locked in her car. And what better way to keep him in the country than a full on missing persons case on his daughter? He would never go back to AU with his daughter missing in the US.

When we look at other things that were going on around Oct 7th or 8th, I noticed that while the "formal" marriage announcement of EB's ex showed up on his social networking site on Oct 9th, he had likely already told those who were close to him about his upcoming marriage on Nov 5th. Great insight into her relationship with him and that had to sting. He never married her that we know of.

Just some thoughts. You guys are doing a remarkable job of looking at all the angles.

I thought I read (on HM, I think?) that the payments were put on hold by the OZ child support agency when Zahra left the country? I could be wrong there, trying to multitask as usual lol.

I read via biomom that the payments went on hold when Zahra was reported missing or a homicide investigation.

well hey howdy Kat, been missing you the last few. Your calm head and well thought out posts always give me something to work towards ;)

Lets they had everything planned except maybe the leg and the hearing aide.

The note
The fire
the police the call to the boss(the boss didnt react correctly)

The "missing '" car. (I think it may have been sold)

If it all went according to plan except LE is not stupid. What evidence would have been planted, other than the note?

How would EB set someone up?

It said in that source that they were put on hold once she was reported *missing*, but it was implied that prior to that they were still being processed, even once she was in the US (even though her bio-mum didn't know she had left the country).

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS FROM AN UNCONFIRMED SOURCE.

huh!?! Did I miss confirmation that the Baker household received aid in the form of food stamps etc? If that is the case how did we access those forms, aren't those protected by privacy acts?

Sorry for the confusion but I must have really missed that one, and I have tried so hard to keep up on the breaking info.

"On the affidavit of indigence that accompanied her request for a court-appointed attorney, Baker listed her monthly household income as $600 from her husband Adam Baker’s job at Real Tree Services, and $200 from additional income such as food stamps or child support."

The whole notion of "child support" from "biomum" remains, to me, um, very ambiguous.

Howdy TL. :)

I think this investigation may be a lot further along than being reported. Just from looking at the attn's so far. JMHO.

I could be wrong. :)

Justice for Zahra.

IN RE: Elisa Baker and foodstamps/government assistance

On the affidavit of indigence that accompanied her request for a court-appointed attorney, Baker listed her monthly household income as $600 from her husband Adam Baker’s job at Real Tree Services, and $200 from additional income such as food stamps or child support.

http://www2.hickoryrecord.com/news/2010/oct/23/dubs-defend-elisa-baker-ar-478734/

SO there may have been assistance coming into the household but I cannot imagine that the public has been given access to those forms. Also, the additional $200.00 in household income may well have been the child support stated by the person called "biomum" on Val's HM site.

ETA dang wfgodot, you are qwik, lol!

HEARING AIDs

If they were found on the floor, my guess would be they were actually in Z's ears and fell out at the time she was removed from home.

Respectfully snipped...

If she died in the bed, and the aids were in her ears and fell out at the time she was removed, there would be decomp on them and that could be why LE changed the status of the case from missing to homicide.

**speculation**

Affidavit for Indigency (if I'm not mistaken?)

I'm not seeing child support clearly marked as an entry for income.

Curious eh? JMHO.

The United States is listed as a "reciprocating jurisdiction" for child support payments with Australia. Meaning that if a child moves out of Australia, but into the US (or another reciprocating jurisdiction), child support payments are still collected and paid through CSA (the Australian government's Child Support Agency):

For Zahra, life in Australia was smiles, survival, family and friends

MEDIA GENERAL NEWS SERVICE
Giru, the former home of Zahra Baker, is a tiny Australian town that started as a railroad siding on the sugar line.
The Haughton River there draws people who fish for giant barramundi, and many of the houses are built on poles because of occasional flooding.
But above all, Giru is a sugar mill town. Cane fields take over where backyards end, and the giant CSR Invicta Sugar Mill crushes 3 million tons of sugar cane each year.
The sugar mill was the reason Zahra’s family wound up in Giru, a town of less than 400 people in Queensland’s northwest edge.
She had some hard years there, fighting bone cancer first and then tumors in her lungs.
But Giru must have seemed like heaven to Zahra, compared to the hell she endured when her father brought her to North Carolina to live with her new stepmother.
Millions of people in the United States and Australia have come to know 10-year-old Zahra’s freckled face and cute grin during the ongoing ordeal of her disappearance and presumed murder.
But even in the Giru years, before all this happened, Zahra was a bit of a celebrity because of the plucky spirit with which she met cancer.

Okay I'm confused. What pregnancy? Who is pregnant or was pregnant? Is this just a theory?

Justice for Zahra.

That is my thinking (and big hope) as well. Already started switching gears and get ready to begin armchair DAing over here as well. Was doing a little reading on decomp earlier in the day as I am thinking that sort of evidence is going to come into play in a trial, particularly IF LE can find the body, and perhaps even if they cannot.

Thank you so much Etilema.

Question? Just because I'm curious. Does the AUS consulate oversee this?

OFF TOPIC: My experience, when I moved to Germany, my ex thought he could stop payments on child support for his son and I would have no recourse.

Some countries have international laws in agreement with USA to collect child support for children in or from another country while residing outside of that country.

Germany is one. The Gov. of Germany petitioned the Federal Gov of the USA and my son got his child support.

I do wonder if this is the case between AUS and USA?

All jmho and previous experiences.

:waitasec: On page 6 of the search warrant it lists "(4) burnt samples (from tahoe and brush fire)"... http://www.wbtv.com/global/link.asp?l=460807

Color me confused. 'Bout the only thing I feel sure of is that something very bad happened to Zahra on Tuesday October 5, and sadly I cannot link to my hunches.

So there was burnt samples inside the Tahoe?

The Tahoe being found stinking of gas with burn material inside reminds me of a case I saw recently. A man killed a woman, put her in her car, doused the inside with gas and ran. The car was caught on video from a business nearby. It showed the fire inside got really bright, almost like an explosion but it quickly went out. He did not leave a window cracked or a door open which robbed the fire of oxygen so it only lasted a few seconds.

It was found by LE who noticed a strong smell of gas and a small amount of burn material inside. The car was pretty much intact. Even though it was doused with gas, the fire used the little amount of oxygen and quickly went out.

So the way the Tahoe was found makes me think it's possible they tried to burn it as well but didn't leave a window open to feed the fire and it never fully went off.

Maybe then they decided to put the note inside (take out whatever they where trying to burn) and leave the door open so LE would find it. If the dogs hit on the Tahoe for decomp that gives me an even clearer picture of what they where trying to burn.

The tracks in the yard are from heavy machinery, probably the day they moved in to search they brought in another heavy machinery right? A Truck tack mark wouldn't look like that. It would be much wider and stuff. Also the ground had to have been wet to make those marks.
A News 14 Carolina video of Zahra's balloon release, and the very first frame of it is of the front of the house and grass in the side yard away from the parking area. I think this was from October 17th and the lawn still looked good.
