That statement might exist as part of a transcript from NG or JVM shows - I couldn't find it anywhere in MSM news searches either.

Given that NG and JVM is a show that advertises it covers news and VIEWS and there is a lot of speculating that goes on there, I would much rather link a news source, not a views sources ;)

ty tho, at least its a starting point. Maybe if I can steel myself to get through the whole transcript I will find the context in which that subject came up and whether the speaker sites any sort of resource for that info.

Yeppers, I don't consider either to be MSM sources. tehcloser remembered that those shows may have been the source of the info.

Couldn't all of it have originated with the school? IIRC, the hearing aids were to make it easier for her in school. It does seem though that EB appeared to be the loving parent during the photo ops. MOO

Yes, that is possible. Forgot Zahra had gone to school. Did they suddenly decide to homeschool by the start of the new school year?

eh......msm link. No. Like I said it was either JVM or NG, we discussed it at the time on the thread. It was a reporter from the Hickory newspaper that said it......so that's all I have.

Have I missed something? LE themselves have stated that EB is cooperating, so what makes one think she is not? None of us know what LE may be asking - so we can't say she isn't cooperating. ***Just MY Opinion***
Speaking just for myself, after following similar cases for years, that is a common expression LE often uses ,I believe in order to not burn any bridges with the person they are discussing. It doesn't always mean it's true, but it helps to keep that door open.JMO

Just some random thoughts running through my head. I haven't been able to keep up with every page of every thread but I have been popping in and out throughout - so please forgive if these questions have been discussed ad nauseum.

1) If AB last saw Zahra @ 2:30 am on the night of the fire - sleeping in her bed then:
a) wouldn't she have awakened from the flashing lights of the fire dept and response vehicles?
b) would she actually take the time to put on her prosthetic leg when she was so adept at crutches? Seems to me, speculating here, that if she were jumping up out of bed to go and see what was going on with the lights flashing through her bedroom window - she would go with the quickest and easiest to grab and go.
c) just speculating another idea here - but what if someone standing outside watching the fire dept. response grabbed Zahra - maybe someone that EB owed money to for nefarious reasons? EB may have known about it and tried to cover up with the ransom note?
d) i still cannot get past the fact that AB said Zahra had been feeling sick and he just left her alone when she didn't feel good. The reports from the people in the hospital in Oz that interacted with AB and Zahra's Grandma said they were very present in her life during the cancer(s). Why would AB "leave her alone" now when she is sick - but be at her bedside w/his mother when she was in the hospital?

Would love to hear your comments on some of these ideas. Maybe we can spark discussions.

Yes it appears after they moved she was taken out of school and EB was supposed to be home-schooling her. MOO

Here's the NG "son of Mr. Coffey" transcript, with Mr. Miller stating it to be so - Miller is editor of the Hickory Daily Record, I believe:

CASAREZ: But I didn`t think Mr. Coffey...

MILLER: ... are suspicious of the note...

CASAREZ: ... had a son!

MILLER: He did.

CASAREZ: Mr. Coffey had a daughter.

MILLER: He has a son and a daughter.

CASAREZ: A son and a daughter.

I have been slogging thru NG transcripts (...shudder...) and haven't come across it yet.

Will also check our old threads in case someone tagged it...

ETA--Way to go, wf!!! Let's slap that thing over in the timeline thread!

Saturday, 5:30 a.m.: At the home, a Hickory police officer finds the passenger door of a 1996 Chevy Tahoe open, the smell of gasoline coming from inside and a handwritten ransom note on the front windshield. Ransom note says the daughter of Mark Coffey, the home’s owner, has been taken, and his son would be, too. But police see Coffey and his daughter at the home and they are OK.

snipped from the hickory herald timeline
http://www2.hickoryrecord.com/news/2010/oct/17/timeline-disappearance-zahra-baker-ar-463261/

I suspect there has been no MSM confirmation and that NG show plucked the son from either the timeline and assumed he exists or from the ransom not itself and assumed he exists. I suspect he probably does exist, but can find no confirmation as such.

So there it is...maybe not good enough for a "source", I think it is, but at any rate, the locals should be able to tell us if he has a red headed son.

Except that the boss doesn't even HAVE a son. And that fact makes me curious as to why EB would add that info in the note. Did she mistake another redheaded male for the bosses son, a co-worker perhaps, a nephew of the boss? Or does she add this info simply because she knows it doesn't make sense. Buy time...write something about someone who doesn't exist...tie up LE so that we have a little more time to go over our tracks and make sure we didn't slip up anywhere.

BBM I missed something along the way. I thought a local said umpteen threads back that he does have a son who had gotten in some sort of trouble with pot???

I know of the event and the charity donation. I was wondering if audiologists just arrive and then determine that someone is hearing impaired and then fitted with aides at a singular event? It seems there would have to be a lot of audiologists on site with a very large variety of aides available to accomplish this. I would think there would have had to have already been a diagnosis of hearing loss to qualify. Just wondering.

ETA: does anyone have a link to the audiologists who voluteered their services? Also the manufacturers who donated the hearing aids? There is a huge variety, and I am wondering who the audiologist was that saw Zahra.

My son has a high frequency hearing loss, due to frequent use of IV antibiotics after his premature birth.Long story.
Any way, he was tested, then a mold was made of his ear. That mold was sent off and the actual piece that goes into his ear was made .It took weeks. The specific hearing aide ,that attaches to the inner ear mold ,but sits behind the ear,was ordered. That took weeks.
Tid bit........His first aides were a more basic, less expensive version, due to his age and the possibility of damage or loss.
His newest set is more high tech and the audiologist can synch it with a computer and tell how many hours it's been used.I would imagine Zahra would be a candidate for the more high tech aides. They synch better with each other and when used with a phone the aides synch together so the sound is going into both. The audiologist can tell when that's been used ,also. She's bummed because my son doesn't talk on the phone due to his cognative level.

I would like to see LE find info on how recently Zahra was seen by medical personnel. ANY medical personnel.

I swear the things we have to argue about just to keep on little thing straight is about to drive me insane.

I just got on and have been catching up.
I guess there is NO NEW NEWS?
NO SEARCHES?
GJ is tomorrow.
I wonder if LE has everything they need to take to GJ.

If AB is staying with his mother and brother, what would you as KB say to how disappointed you are to have a son that married a witch and made your grand daughters life pure hello................
If I was KB no matter how much I loved my adult son, I would probably be in jail for murder also.
Touch 1 hair on my grandchildren and I would fly into the adult!
He is an adult and took precious Zahra away from all her family to go 10,000 miles away with a woman he really didn't know.
I feel so bad for AB mother and the AU family of Zahra.

As the authority quoted is the editor of the local paper, that's close enough to MSM for me too. Good idea on "red-headed son" confirmation via locals.

This is my first time posting but I've been reading forever.

My thoughts on the hearing aids....Z's school is who nominated her or who brought this up for her. If EB or AB had refused them then it would have made them look abusive. I mean who on earth would refuse hearing aids for their hearing impaired daughter. I think they agreed to it to "keep face" so to say with the school. Act like loving parents who were so interested in their daughter's welfare. If they hadn't it would have raised tons of suspicion to the school and teachers and possibly even involved more calls to Child Services.

Personally I don't think they would have EVER done it without the school's being involved.

I think we can assume the son exists, we just can't proove it. And if locals have reported he exists I tend to believe he does.

So there we are, stuck with that. At least I know I made every effort to back it up.
