Continuing my line of thought regarding DSS visit...the running off the road incident with BB occurred on May 13, and it was right after this incident that BB, according to her, made sure that someone called DSS. So it's quite possible that DSS paid their visit around the middle or end of May, or June (as a result of school officials AND family prompting). That would put us at roughly 2 months prior to the move to 21st Ave.

Police returning to Zahra Baker home

Searchers will continue looking for any clues in the disappearance of a 10-year-old Hickory girl this week. They are likely to return to the family's house, where they spent much of last week digging up the yard and sifting through piles of mulch.
Hickory Police Deputy Chief Clyde Deal said Sunday that searchers will probably return to Zahra Baker's house early today, and authorities will then decide where to focus for the rest of the week.

Yes, but I would think the DSS visit was closer to the assistant principal (school) visit, especially once that asst principal went to the home - she would have reported to DSS fairly quickly (I would think). DSS has mandated timelines when they receive a report - have to investigate within 48 - 72? hours. This could also have been why the hearing aid event was attended - authorities were turning the heat up. I want to know what was being said about her leg - and how EB answered questions concerning the routine checks for her leg and also her cancer. That DSS file has alot of info!!!!! IMHO

Right. I'm coming up with mid-May based on everything I can piece together.

Does anyone have an exact location for the Helton Road home? The map someone provided me with only gives an "approximation" for the address, and it seems that Google maps doesn't want to cooperate with the house number.

today being el Día de los Muertos maybe zahra will tell us where she is today....this case breaks my heart

Count me on that as well i think she was missing long before!

I'm inclined to believe the furniture store clerk, so I'm thinking sometime between Sept. 25 and Oct. 9. Lord, what I wouldn't give to know when this "home inspection" was scheduled.

Just looking again on the search warrant and it say there were (4) "burn samples" taken from the brush pile AND the Tahoe.

So something was taken from the brush pile and put into the Tahoe???

District Attorney Jay Gaither hasn't said if his office is preparing charges but has said he is consulting with the N.C. Attorney General's office and other prosecutors on the issue of prosecuting a murder if the victim's body isn't recovered.
"The absence of a body is not considered to be a bar to prosecution by my office," Gaither wrote recently in an e-mail.

Possible. It's also possible that something was burned IN the Tahoe. Someone posted an interesting thought regarding this yesterday. Perhaps the gas was poured in the Tahoe, and it was ignited, but the door was shut and there wasn't enough oxygen to feed the fire. Interesting to consider when you think about the car door being found open.

Cars drove slowly down the residential street and people craned their necks to see what the investigators were doing and to look at the makeshift shrine in the front yard.
Two SBI agents holding garbage bags walked to the shrine at the base of the oak tree in front of the house. They reached in the bags, pulled out toy plush animals and notes that had been left for Zahra and arranged them in front of the tree.

Heartwarming that the SBI agents took the time to place stuffed animals and cards at her little oak tree memorial. It just goes to show how dedicated they are to this little angel.

Not sure about this but look here on google maps. It looks to be a trailer park. The map link is only putting me at the beginning of Helton Road, follow that road down to about 4798. Coordinates are 35.808304,-81.472206

My husband and I are car buffs and always have at least three cars, two of which usually run. ;P

He was commenting to me yesterday while looking at some of our previous residences on google maps that, because of the way google updates their photos, our cars are shown at three different residences, all previous, and actually aren't shown yet at our current house, which we moved to in March.

I know some of you guys are not really interested in the mysterious Monte Carlo, but would any of you be willing to split up the B's old addresses with me to scope out on google maps and look for that car in front of or near them? We can find out a lot more if we can get even a partial license plate number, I think.

If no takers, I'll do it on my own, just thought it'd be faster with help.

TIA

Zahra was pre-enrolled for 5th grade some time in Aug. Does the school automatically enroll a returning student, or do parents have to do that?

You and I are on the same wavelength. That's why I was just asking about EB's previous addresses. Unfortunately, without Street View at a lot of those locations it is near impossible to tell what cars are at which residence.

BBM

Yes. They will take all the 4th graders and assign them to a 5th grade class - unless they hear directly from the family and family has stated they have moved or that the child will not be returning.

It is interesting that the school followed up on Zahra once school had started and she wasn't there. The had EB's phone # (and it obviously was a cell) to call and that's when she told them they were homeschooling. I think its a good thing this was a suburban, smaller, school district. Where I'm at - no way would any school call (or even try to call) for every student that didn't show up but attended last year.

Zahra would have automatically be considered a returning student unless the school received a transfer notice and records request from a different school. JMO based on working in a NC school system.

Hi all. Just been reading and not posting lately. (I can't keep up with the thread, LOL!) I wanted to say that you all are doing a great job.

Where's Zahra?
