I don't think LE is going to share much especially if it gets too gruesome. They still have to think about finding an impartial jury. MOO

Reminds me of Cantu case Panthera when you posted that. I agree IMHO. (not the sexual crime aspect, but the gruesome aspect)

imagine what evidence that poor GJ had to hear today to return that true bill on EB?

ITA they will keep this whole thing in the GJ/private area as much as and as long as possible.

more power to them. Tight case=justice

Do you think it was a strategic move to keep that evidence secret to present it to the Regularly scheduled Grand Jury instead of a probable cause hearing?

FWIW, I don't expect to see very much confirmation of evidence from LE in this case. I don't expect very many comments in general from LE about their case at all. Might get another presser when charge(s) for the homicide of Zahra are levied. JMHO.

Well.. I guess I will redo my avitar since it's not Halloween anymore... hopefully it's fixed when I get back... :) and I get my thanks button back too... :D

I am very very curious to know what is the attraction to the house, and why they indicated that it had become a homicide investigation so early.

I am so so sad for Zahra. My parents are both hearing impaired. My son's birthday is 10/9, the day she was reported missing. (my other son was born on 9/9, Kyron's birthday) I am close to Adam's age. No striking similarities, but it hits somewhere in my emotional ballpark.

So so sad.
bbm, you and me both Ms Tree!

However, just three days into the investigation, on Oct. 12, Hickory police changed it to a homicide investigation, but declined to state what made them change their determination. http://www2.hickoryrecord.com/news/...90/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

at day three they were on the cars and the search warrant we are able to see.......

three days in=homicide

and look where we are now... how many days have passed...

how much evidence the public is aware of.......

Good question. This will come into play when this goes to trial. JMHO.

I have no idea, but I would hope so. Even if eyewitnesses did not directly see LE, doesn't mean that the property was left unguarded. JMHO.

I agree. I think it was being watched.

MOO is that 21 21st St W Hickory has been guarded since day one even if they were not visible. Guarded both by sight and sound.

MOO is that Zahra is in one piece but just has not been found yet. Anything other than being left in one piece would have been too much trouble.

As I have been saying since day one, Dad gets no pass from me in all of this.

eleph - all MOO

Agree with all.

:waitasec: Adam was the one that reported Zahra missing. Where in the world is the info on a charge against Elisa for false reporting Zahra missing or whatever the heck Nancy Jean stated.

I think this has been resolved but not sure. I think it has to do with whatever statement she made to LE about Zahra being missing, in relation to the B.S. note she penned.

No way would they refer to it like that. IMO it is tacky and light hearted and not in this case.IMO

If they are not sure what the substance is, I can see them referring to it as such. I think I have seen other drugs referred to as, for example, "a white, powdery substance."

I don't know why this case is getting to me more than others but it is. This child, I just cannot express - so pure, so strong, so vulnerable. I guess like most kids but when I see her gorgeous little face and lovely, innocent smile, it's really just getting to me.

bbm...

absolutely...

from the moment (DAY THREE) this was declared a homicide investigation LE said that info to the public would be limited.

eta: macabre thought out loud... but from day three have they known they are dealing with the possibility that an 'entire' body will not be able to be recovered???? just thinking out loud... there are lots of "pieces" and "parts" statements that have been made and they seem to be collecting things in pieces and parts

LE probably took a look-see at EB's past history & decided how untenable it was that Zahra was still alive. Zahra hadn't been seen or gone to school for a very long time.

I wonder if they can call a GJ into session?

I'm reading N.C. statute under North Carolina General Statutes § 15A-622 Formation and organization of grand juries; other preliminary matters.

If I interpret it correctly they not only have a sitting Grand jury, they can convene a second Grand jury if needed.

Quote
"The senior resident superior court judge of the district may impanel a second grand jury in any county of the district to serve concurrently with the first. The second grand jury shall be impaneled as provided in the first paragraph of this subsection. The court shall continue to have two grand juries until the senior resident superior court judge orders the second grand jury to terminate."

IMO - A good deal of evidence in this case will require a good deal of time to collect before the Grand jury members would deliberate on a true bill.

Of course the Sheriff could make arrest and charge someone and proceed differently.

IMO - This case will be heard and charges will be filed by the Grand jury.

N.C. Statute link.

MOO is that they are staying with BS.

Have heard that also, but nothing to confirm it. Wouldn't that be strange family dynamics...He and mother (and possibly other relatives) staying with the person who asked the judge not to let her out. If that is the case one might think the daughter may trust him more than her own mother. Whether that trust is accurate, who knows, but a strange arrangement, in any case.

AB and EB both had access to the house, cars and yards. They are going to have to sort through a lot of things to know for sure only one person did this to Zahra. jmo

Any quesses as to who is talking to LE over the past 6 days and this weekend ?

http://www2.hickoryrecord.com/news/...-return-baker-house-seize-evidence-ar-502595/

Adkins said investigators were led back to the house for additional evidence based on new leads.
“Information that we gathered led us back to more evidence that may be present,” he said.
He said other areas of Caldwell County were also searched Monday, based on tips the police department received over the weekend.
Adkins said those tips are not from Elisa Baker or her attorney, Lisa Dubs.
“We haven’t spoken to her attorney since (last) Tuesday,” he said.

I think they had some kinf of proof she was dead maybe some DNa from her
hearing aids that were found or a hair add that to the dogs hitting on the cars.\JMO

hey raisincharlie :seeya:

Me thinks the "tips received by the police department over the weekend" came from the CSI labs and preliminary results on certain forensic tests that were conducted over the weekend. But that's JMO.

Also, last week when LE found her leg, they said that "that discovery" led them BACK to the house. If her leg was the murder weapon it could have had paint chips matching the walls, or marks at the house could have matched the leg.

I just believe the tips came from within - lab results coming back. KWIM?

Last Tuesday would have been:

• Oct. 26: Zahra's stepmother is again taken out of jail and brought to a new search site, on Christie Road in Caldwell County.

I have no idea but it makes more sense, imo, than EB talking. I don't believe she's being that cooperative when it would implicate herself, even if she were trying to put all the blame on AB. MOO

Could well be you are correct. Lets hope this is the case - no lies involved that way. :D

Bathroom - Where the deed took place (I can't even say it)

Kitchen with fridge - cut up and frozen. ACK!

This would also explain the digging in the yard at the side where maybe the water lines were located and the hose out of the window.

Think out side of the box too, if you stick your mind on spare ribs your not going to get the pork. :)

Not sure if this has been reported before, but an interesting comment here from reporter Jennifer Moxley that she was told by investigator that they searched an acre based on info from EB and did not find the prosthetic leg, so they expanded the area and it was found.

That sounds like it could mean she gave them info based on what AB told her, and didn't have an exact location?
