I'm confused. Mom took out a restraining order on him on Mon. On Tuesday AM she comes home and the children are gone. Who was with the children while mom was gone? Him? Hopefully he'll tell LE where the child is and hopefully he left her with someone caring, but wouldn't that someone come forward now that it's in the news? I just pray she's safe but am thinking the worst. moo

State and local authorities continued scouring southern Harnett County on Wednesday.

Daquan Seandre Thomas, 20, appeared in court Wednesday morning but said little. A judge ordered him held under a $200,000 bond and set a probable cause hearing for Nov. 14.

Zy'Rah's mother took out a domestic violence protection order against Thomas on Monday, but deputies weren't able to serve it on him until he was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas hasn't been cooperative with investigators, the sheriff said.

Thomas is charged with one count of felony child abduction and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse. More charges are pending.

Thomas, of the 200 block of Rambeaut Road in Spring Lake, was dating the girl's mother. He is also the father of one of her two children, an 11-month-old boy who was also taken from the Sweet Lane address.

This doesn't look good. There wasn't much media put out on the local news last night due to the incident in NY. That was really bad, but..... I would think an amber alert for a 3 yo missing in our area would get more than just a passing blurb during the news cast.

Law enforcement officers were searching for the girl by helicopter, airplane and foot.

Officers combed through thick underbrush behind the Brookside apartment complex this morning.

Divers were checking a pond behind the complex, though there is no evidence to suggest Zy’rah’s body might be found there.

Checkpoints were being set up on roads near the complex.

The cousin, 14, acknowledged that the two had fights, but she doesn’t think Thomas would hurt Zy’rah, who she described as “real quiet and sweet. She was a good child.″ “I know she’s OK because he wouldn’t hurt her,” said the cousin, who lives in the same apartment building.

She said that at one point Thomas called the family to say Zy’rah was in Erwin. She said she had not given deputies that information.

I agree. If she was Okay, he'd have told LE where she was already. If she was somewhere safe, someone would have called in. No news is NOT good news, in this case, imo.

Authorities comb Spring Lake in search of missing girl

As a State Highway Patrol helicopter and a State Bureau of Investigation plane searched the area from the sky, teams of law enforcement officers combed Spring Lake on the ground. Checkpoints were set up along Ray Road and N.C. Highway 210 to jog people's memories for any possible tips, and dive teams searched ponds in the area.

"We're just trying to cover everything, any possible avenues," Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats said during a Wednesday morning news conference. "We're not going to leave anything uncovered, so we're searching everywhere."
Temperatures around central North Carolina dropped into the low to mid-40s overnight.
