Found Deceased ND - Andrew Sadek, 20, Wahpeton, 1 May 2014 *alledged undercover drug informant*

Barbara Spaeth-Baum, a spokeswoman for the NDSCS campus police, could not confirm that Sadek’s body was found with a backpack that contained rocks. She said investigators are still looking into whether the death was a homicide or a suicide, and that a search continues for the gun that was used.

Tammy Sadek said her son was shot with a .22-caliber bullet and that her family is missing a .22-caliber gun. Though, she says that does not prove he committed suicide and that the gun could have been used against him.

Wow. This scenerio makes perfect sense to me. I wonder how often it happens in jurisdictions all over the US. Cops use 'em and throw 'em under the bus.

Well when did he take the gun from home? If it was recent, then he had a reason for taking it. Protection or to end his life.

Wahpeton Police Chief Scott Thorsteinson said he sits on the board that oversees the task force, but does not manage its day-to-day operations and is not privy to the details of Andrew Sadek’s drug case.

But speaking generally, Thorsteinson said it’s standard practice for narcotics investigators around the country “to use a little fish to try to get a bigger fish.”

“If you didn’t use some technique like that, you’d never be able to get the kingpins,” he said.

Horrific case!!! How how my heart aches for his parents. To lose one child is tragic. To lose both of your children, just unimaginable heart ache!! May they find the strength to carry on. May they find whoever is responsible for Andrew's death. IF it is suicide, wonder why the ME didn't think so? Something about the angle of bullet trajectory maybe? Something gave that ME pause and for that, I'm thankful as it will hopefully spur LE to get to the bottom of this!!

IF someone begin to suspect he was a snitch, yes, I think his life would be in danger. I guess it depends on how much you know? Not sure. But gosh, wait until he is missing, then file charges, that says to me that LE wanted someone to think they were charging him, and he wasn't working with LE! BUT....they were too late to do that! Someone knew he had been caught and not charged. Or charged and the charges dropped or reduced...so who knew??? Would he tell his closest friends?? Would he be nervous buying more drugs??? Would others pick up on his changes??? Or was the pressure of the whole thing too much to bear??

I know a .22 can kill. I know also that it doesn't always. I worked with someone who attempted suicide with a .22, and it didn't penetrate the skull, went between the skull and the scalp. Luckily he was treated for his depression at that point, along with some social anxieties. I just wonder how often a .22 is actually used? And I guess it would depend on the bullet used as well. A hollow point doing the most damage. But there's .22 long and shorts, IIRC.

Whatever the case may be, a young man has lost his life. :tantrum:

Andrew Sadek's mother says he was wearing different clothes when he was found

She said her son left the dorm in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers hooded sweatshirt and that he was found wearing a jacket, which she declined to describe.

“It’s not even a jacket I recognize. I’m not even sure if it’s his jacket,” said Tammy Sadek, who bought many of his clothes for him.

She asked for the public’s help in finding the sweatshirt and his wallet, which are both missing.

Sadek indicated she wasn't comfortable with the North Dakota's BCI and Minnesota's BCA investigation into his disappearance and intimately his death. She talks about the fact that the BCI had said publicly that Andrew was found in the same clothes he went missing in. However, Tammy Sadek said the family reviewed documents and pictures and said that statement was not true. Sadek also says she believe's Andrew's death was a homicide.

Andrew Sadek went missing while under investigation by SEMCA for selling small amounts of pot. He was also a student at NDSCS in Wahpeton. SEMCA is a multi-county drug task force.

Just to be clear, he was under investigation for delivery within 1000 ft of a SCHOOL. Isn't the 'within 1000 ft of a school' the criteria that made it a class A felony?

Yes. Why is pointing that out important?

Because most people wouldn't give too much thought to a kid who was caught selling pot. Shouldn't have been doing it but oh well---turn the page. But when it involves delievering within 1000 ft of a school, people take notice and there's more of a public outrage and a stiffer charge. No need to minimize what he was doing--it is what it is.

In my state it's very important. It's a different charge, so I agree.

I know but I don't understand what difference it makes as it relates to this discussion. Is your point that you are trying to make Andrew out as the bad guy because it was by the school? Andrew lived on campus. It wasn't like he was targeting children. Also to be noted, Andrew wasn't in the pot business to make money. He sold a total of $80 worth of pot on 2 occasions... (So they say....). At this point, I don't know if I believe ANYTHING SEMCA is saying. I'd be asking for ALL PROOF related to the original charges.

The people of ND should be outraged that one of their sons has died this way.

That's exactly[/I] why it is suspicious these year old charges came out after he was murdered. They were counting on all of us discounting Andrew's life because he was a "drug dealer." Most progressive people realize that kids in college make mistakes... What he did was wrong but it shouldn't define him.

If he wasn't selling it to make money, why was he selling it? For the March of Dimes? Or perhaps running a nonprofit in the name of medical research.
