FARGO — Ashton Matheny, boyfriend of the slain Fargo woman, Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, now has full legal custody of their baby girl, Haisley Jo.


A Cass County District Court judge on Tuesday, Sept. 12, dismissed the order that had placed the baby in protective custody of Cass County Social Services after she was found in the possession of one of the suspects charged in the case.

“It’s amazing – it’s all over with finally,” Matheny said Tuesday. “I’ve been here almost a month fighting for my daughter. It’s been the toughest month of my life.”

The child had remained in protective custody awaiting results of DNA tests that were conducted to determine whether Matheny and LaFontaine-Greywind were the parents. Matheny reported on Monday, Sept. 11, that he had received word that the tests had confirmed that fact.

[h=1]Tribal Leaders Want Action After North Dakota Woman Slain[/h]

The United Tribes of North Dakota plan to send a letter to North Dakota's congressional delegation. The letter seeks justice for the family of 22-year-old Savanna Greywind and the families of missing and murdered American Indian women.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the letter was approved during the recent Tribal Leaders Summit in Bismarck. Among the recommendations is a task force to reopen cold cases of missing and murdered American Indian women.

Hoehn is now scheduled to be back in court in December.
His girlfriend, Brooke Crews, is scheduled to appear in court on the same charges on Thursday.

Seems I have a discrepency on the dates - this article says he's back in December, and I know "somewhere" I got the date of Oct. 4th.... :dunno:

I wonder if the family isn't somewhat unhappy about the way the case was handled. I know the FMPD put a lot of resources into the investigation----but that was 2 days later. When LE went on the initial call, they told the family that SG was an adult and maybe she just left and she was free to do that. The circumstances made no sense at all to lead anyone with common sense to think she left on her own. Pregnant, purse at home, just ordered a pizza, was suppose to give her brother a ride to work, went to the neighbors, never came back----and they thought she may have left on her own????? There wasn't any sense of urgency. Why not?

There also wasn't much interest by LE in forming search parties to find her. The family had to, and did, do that.

My bet.... My opinion only... Gloria contacted them. She is doing it (whatever "it" might be) pro-bono. She loves and thrives on publicity in high profile. Something is likely in the works.

I bet you're right. The family seems to be under the impression Allred is going to handle media requests, but in her statement Allred just said she has been hired by the family and has no further comment. Strange that she didn't say she had been hired by the family and asks that all media requests be directed to her.

I don't know if this is related to Gloria Allred or not. I am relatively local, and this person is under investigation for conducting an adoption scam. Posting this here only because she also referred to having a baby available named Haisley in the days after Savanna's baby was recovered. Read the 3rd article for the details.
