Police Chief Jason Ziegler declined to say whether all four victims were targeted.

Police declined to release details of the 911 call that alerted authorities to the slayings. The Associated Press and other media outlets asked for audio and a transcript of the call, but police denied the requests, citing a provision of the state's open records law that allows authorities to withhold such information during an active investigation.

Hmmm... make sense to withhold during an investigation - especially if there's something they really do not want the public to be aware of right now.

Welcome to Websleuths, Kyshoegal !
Agreed, there are still questions.
I keep thinking one was the target and the rest were there at the wrong time ?
Sounds like the others were collateral damage.

Hmm...so there is something about the call that is more than just reporting the heart-attack?

I think the married couple (or one person of the married couple) was the intended target. They were in the office. I think CI went directly to the office, killed them, and as he exited, he encountered the other two in the shop area. Perhaps they confronted him (I'm sure the owner would), but CI had weapons so they didn't have a chance. Speculation only.

"Hmm...so there is something about the call that is more than just reporting the heart-attack?"

Can I address this VERY common misunderstanding please? The 911 call indicated CPR in progress. There is no mention of a heart attack. CPR is performed for a large number of reasons. In fact most 'heart attacks' (myocardial infarctions) do NOT result in the heart ceasing to beat/ need for CPR.

Reasons that a person might need CPR include:
  • Electrocution
  • Chest trauma
  • Drug overdose
  • Drowning
  • Lethal Arrhythmia
What all of the above items have in common are the heart ceases to effectively pump blood. Sometimes a heart attack also causes cardiac arrest- but the vast majority of the time, it does not.

Sorry, but a 'heart attack' just is not part of this narrative.

Sorry, I thought it was. Thanks for the clarification.

Marking my spot.
It bothers me that I still cannot fathom a motive.

I think and it is just from reading between the lines on things we have read, there is something about the state of at least one of the victims that stands out, is extreme or oddly unusual.

This is total speculation on my part but again, comes from reading between the lines. Where admittedly there may be nothing to read between them. Entirely speculating.

I could be way off base.

Interesting. There is something in that 911 call that gives some specific information that LE doesn't want released yet. I wonder what it is.

I feel like it might be either the state of one of the victims or it’s someone reporting the name of the suspect and they want to avoid tainting a jury. Not sure and JMO

No worries!
It's my First Place 'pet peeve' where media and medicine intersect.
Second place: Any type of abdominal wound being described as 'in the stomach'. The stomach is a small, specific organ, the abdomen is a large area containing multiple organs.
*steps down off of soap box for the sake of her blood pressure......

Maybe he has some unusual habits that were seen by a worker at the trailer park and the person mentioned it to him

Maybe some background noise - words or shouts about the perp?

I don't think so. If you scroll back, you'll see a rather recent post that suggests he is around.

Ok thanks. I was going to ask him a question on this thread and now forgot what that was lol. Never mind.

So no motive yet? baffling!
He had to have had a grudge or grievances with one of the victims.

I get you, and there has to be a reason he targeted RJR.

Also, thinking about his mental state to think he could go all Avenger like he did.

Something happened. Just can’t fathom what it might be.

Probably not the case but I wonder on the flip side if he wanted to move his trailer. I know of places, not in ND, that make that very difficult to do.

Some time back I called on one (in a different state) that was a decent price and we had interest in it as a rental. I was told by the young girl that I could not rent it, I could not move it and I had to be approved by the "trailer court" owners and had to live in it. I also read the reviews and they were not great of the owners. It could only be bought outright and the unit had to stay there for five years. We would have purchased it but not never ever under those kinds of terms.

I felt for her, she had bought it, moving to a new area on her own with a child so she could go to school and she was young. It was not working out, she had no backup nor family and she wanted out of the deal. The last I knew she kept lowering the price to no avail. I have no idea what kind of loss she or possibly her folks had to pay to get out of it or in fact if she ever did.

Very unlikely I realize, but I am as frustrated with trying to determine the motive as anyone else and I thought perhaps I am looking at it backwards and rather than him being evicted or not having the rent, he wants out and to move his residence and office or sell the residence and they did not approve a buyer or were making it difficult to get out of a lease?

If moving it, that is expensive enough without owing months or years of lot rent to get out of it.

Unlikely, I know, but it does happen... Just a thought...
