What do we know about CI and his personal life? I know that it has been said that he has family in the area. Was he married? Did he have children? Did he have relationships with people in the community? It seems that all we know is that he is the suspect, ex military and a chiropractor.

He and his ex-wife married on August 16, 1995. Court records show that he has been divorced since 2000 and has a daughter from his marriage.
His ex-wife took him to court several times in the early 2000s in battles over child support payments, records show.

Just as an aside, one or two people have mentioned that he may be short of money due to child support. As the child is probably over 18 now, that wouldn't be an issue as far as I'm aware.

I am curious what type of box a hand gun is sold in? I have only seen guns in carry boxes or a soft case.

They isn't anything unusual about them. Mine came in boxes that look a lot like shoe boxes, except flatter.

Most new handguns nowadays are sold in plastic carry boxes from the factory. A few now, and all in the approx. 20+ year old past, before that time, were sold new in cardboard boxes.

He could still be on the hook to help pay for college if his daughter is enrolled.

Has it been reported what he had under his coat when he got back to McDonalds? It sounded like it was something large. That might be why he did this?

I believe it was the bright colored clothing he wore when he went into RJR.

Unless there was an attached clause in the divorce degree that stated if the child attended college he would have to continue pay support until a certain age.

As I live in Oz, I was unaware of what happens in North Dakota. I found this:

Q. When does the child support obligation end?

The child support obligation begins and ends based on the dates provided in your court order. In North Dakota, most support obligations end when the youngest child turns 18 or the last day of the month the child graduates from high school, whichever happens later. Most North Dakota court orders will not continue past the age of 19, even if a 19 year old child is in high school. Contact the clerk of court in the county where your support order was issued to get a copy of your support order.

Or he could still owe child support he never paid.

I agree with both of these statements. We do not know it to be true but he could have a ton of back child support to pay, insurance to provide, or support through college. He clearly was not living "high off the hog" as he resided in a trailer and drove a 2008 model vehicle. Just speculating.

I agree. In the few divorces I know of that had this clause, it generally came from an agreement between the parties and not from a judge nor due to state law, imo. I think it unlikely in this fairly short term marriage at a young age.

I do think he may very well have owed back child support though or have debt due to the fact he was not always up to date with child support.

I only found 1 child support case around the time of his divorce, and he was the plaintiff. I saw the news reports that his ex took him to court several times over child support so I guess I missed the other cases.

Chad Trolon Isaak, 44, was charged Friday with four counts of felony murder in connection with the deaths of four people at the business that manages the Washburn mobile home park where Isaak lives.

Washburn residents shaken after arrest of local chiropractor

Dora Sorenson, of Beulah, said Isaak called her Sunday evening to see if she could reschedule her appointment from noon on Monday to later that day.

“He said he had a dentist appointment that was going to bleed over into my appointment,” said Sorenson, who was his patient for 10 years.

They rescheduled for 4 p.m. Monday and Isaak arrived to his office right on time, she said.

“There just didn’t seem to be anything different,” she said. “Everything I see on the news, I still can’t believe it.”

Police have not commented about a potential motive for the killings, but a prosecutor said Friday during a court hearing that it appeared RJR was targeted.

Documents say surveillance video shows Isaak arriving at 6:47 a.m. on Monday. Isaak was wearing a bright colored top, dark pants and bright colored head gear.

Isaak can be seen leaving the building around 7a.m. now wearing all dark clothing. An RJR vehicle is then driven away and parked at Indigo Signs. Police say they found blood smears on the door handles along with bright orange fibers inside the vehicle.

Police then see Isaak walk westbound towards Bill Barth Ford and out of view of surveillance.

Seeing as he was "done" with the killing spree and could have been back home in Washburn by 8am, I wonder if he actually *did* have a late-morning dentist appointment.

According to the Mandan Super Walmart site, guns are located on Aisle 26, and they have quite an inventory in stock.

I think Alaska may be the only store that can ship guns/online sales, but guns are sold in other states.

I'm not a gun person, but this link shows rifles and CO2 guns which appear to be BB guns. I don't see any hand guns that shoot bullets.
I called 2 Wal-Mart's in VA and 2 in NC, they do not sell handguns, only rifles and BB. I was told each time it was due to police background checks.

Wow. The detective is sharp to have been able to recognize the F-150 found on video as belonging to CI! That’s a popular truck model, I’m guessing. And once he recognized it as belonging to CI, the detective thought it just couldn’t be CI because he and his family were patients. But the detective didn’t let that stop him from calling in to report the connection between CI and the observed F-150. I’m impressed!

Since he rescheduled an appointment on Sunday and purchased something at Walmart on Sunday (ammo?), clearly he was planning the day before to do this. The question is was it something he had entertained before that Sunday and for some time? Or did something happen around that time/recently? i.e., an eviction notice, maintenance issues, a rent increase...

The fact this was April 1st keeps striking me. It may have nothing to do with anything but it stays in the back of my mind. I come back to possible eviction, back rent, utilities, rent increases...

Was it said he paid lot rent but owned the trailer? Or he rented both? If being evicted from the lot, moving an owned older mobile home is not a fun process and one also has to have somewhere to move it.... Just a thought...

Maybe under new management, there was a recent fair hike increase in lot rent...

Maybe it was something to do with his dog, and the rules/rent regarding animals...

Yet he retained an attorney which probably took a retainer... It also seems more personal than financial...

Same old thoughts going 'round and 'round in my head. :)

The owner of the trailer park said he was a model tenant who always paid his rent on time so there wouldn't have been any back rent issues. I'm with you---seems more personal than financial.
