Using Google Earth's measure feature, the trail from the top paved parking lot to the North Overlook appears to be about 1200' (roughly four football fields).

That'd be a long way to carry a big guy. Not sure it could be done even by three or four people.

Agreed, it does seem a very unlikely task to carry out. I have wondered about any flash flooding and I'm still unclear on if that would even be possible for flood waters to carry him there. If that happened, I would think there will be tell-tale signs that he got caught in a flood. On the other side of the argument as far as being placed there, it might be easier to place someone's remains there after some time has passed. I have long felt he had not run away and stayed away. Now we know that he had not. I also have long felt that his disappearance was due to foul play and hopefully the forensics will tell us whether this was a horribly tragic death by misadventure, or due to foul play.

Just to clarify, I'm not choosing an option here to argue. This phase is for the investigators to sort out and now we wait for their official reports. I'm just feeling for his family as they enter a new and different phase of grief. I pray they can find the peace they are seeking.

He could very well have said to the clerk that he had a fight with his wife even though it wasn’t completely accurate.

Keep in mind, that is all just according to her. We have no way to verify if that is true or not. Almost everything we have been told about what happened that day is just according to her and her family. I'm not saying it isn't believable, but it isn't verified either as far as I know.

What did the clerk say that wasn't accurate? I am trying to catch up on some of this.

Please list or link the parts that the clerk said that was inaccurate. I have never seen that outlined in any publication or LE statement. I would love to see the list. Maybe it would help us here to understand it better if it were available to read.
I'm earnestly, also, trying to understand how a clerk is "inaccurate" about telling a story of an experience he/she supposedly had while working in a convenience store one night. Unless you were also in the store and witnessed this interaction or have seen video footage, how on earth could anyone know he/she was giving an inaccurate story?

I don't understand why we are discussing this. If Chance being in this convenience store helps you in figuring out why he is missing than use this info.

What is important now is to wait on the test results of the skeletal remains found by the Monuments base. If this is Chance there is no way to know when he went to this Monument. He could have gone there well after this storm was over and also entered on another side other than where he was found if this is Chance. Somebody could have placed his body in this location. The testing should give them more info and hopefully solve this case or give us more to go on for this discussion. I have decided to wait for more information from the testing of these skeletal remains that were found.

the last videos of him appears he was looking at his phone maybe for walking directions to his destination. By the sharp turn he took after looking at his phone. I wonder if Google maps had taken him this dangerous path in error as the shortest walking path and maybe he didn't realize how rough this terrain/route would be? Still seems odd he would have ended up there and not realized this wasn't a good idea. Maybe he stopped at this monument to sleep and cool off from being mad and was going to finish the trip in the day light? Certainly not a good place to get out of the rain. If he stopped to rest, very strange he would have just died of natural causes right there. Is it possible he became lost at that spot? Phone died for directions out?

if I am reading this weather correctly wind speed July 6 2019 at near 10pm was 40 mph with 60 mph gusts? And 57 degrees. If he was wet from crossing the canal, maybe it was hypothermia? I am not sure what temp hypothermia sets in, but with that wind and being wet , maybe? I am not sure I trust this wind speed.

I'm certain they have been identified and interviewed by LE.

Hikers and hunters, as an example, find remains often. I'd advise anyone who finds themselves in this situation to remain anonymous to the public. IMO

I just thought that spot or area is an interesting place for a walk.

But rereading the news clip, I guess “walking along the north side of the monument” could mean the walker was up top?
