LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are now looking for an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln.

Christopher Manzer, 47, did not return back from his job in the community on Wednesday, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said.

Manzer had removed his monitoring device, according to a press release.

Officials say Manzer is a white man, 5-foot-10, 177 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Manzer began his life sentence in 1993 on charges out of Pierce County that include second-degree murder, assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Officials say Manzer had a parole board hearing scheduled for Jan. 2023.

Officials ask that anyone with information on Manzer’s whereabouts to call the Nebraska State Patrol or local authorities.

Why was this convicted murderer, who had nothing to lose, allowed outside the prison gates? What are the consequences if and when he gets caught? Another life sentence- whoopee, he must be scared. How many more lives will he ruin while he's on the run? The people who make these stupid, irresponsible decisions to let prisoners out to work or go free early should be held accountable. MOO

ETA: In his pic on the first post, he looks like a guy with zero conscience. Kind of like he's thinking, " When I get my fingers around your throat, you're a goner! " MOO

Chilling. He threatened his entire family. From Find a Grave, it appears only one brother & his mother are still living.

BACK IN CUSTODY after a traffic accident. Article doesn't say how he acquired a vehicle or charges he faces for escaping. I want to know what he was wearing & who owns the vehicle he was driving.

He was taken to a local hospital for some minor injuries suffered in the accident and returned to the custody of the Nebraska Corrections Department.

Manzer is facing multiple charges stemming from the incident including resisting arrest, false information, careless driving and other traffic violations.
