I live very close to the intersection where she was murdered and have some general information to add.
There is a

and Go gas station about 2 blocks south of where she was found. She was traveling north and this is one of only two gas stations she would have passed between the bar and where she was found. The other one is difficult to get in and out of. There's also a walmart open 24 hours just south of where she was found.
It's been reported that she was on her normal route home. She would've turned east at that intersection and driven 2 more miles to get to her house. If I were driving from that bar to that neighborhood, that's the same route that I would take.
That route does not take 20 minutes, especially not at night. In Omaha, during the week the stop lights on non-major streets blink yellow or red starting at 10:00pm. She would have only gone through 2 or 3 intersections with working lights that she could've been stopped at. That drive would take 10-12 minutes at most.
That is an intersection on the edge of town. It is very dark at night right there. No street lamps. 4 way stop. It is rare to see a car out there past 10:00pm, let alone at 2:00am. This makes me think that this being random is very unlikely.
The northwest corner of that intersection is a corn field. The northeast corner of that intersection is a neighborhood of starter homes and duplexes. The southeast corner of that intersection is an older acreage property. The southwest corner of that intersection is a neighborhood of starter homes. My friends live in the closest possible house on the southwest corner. They did not hear anything. One of them woke up with the commotion when the police showed up.
Someone above posted that this is an affluent area and it could have been a gang initiation. I have thought of the possibility of a gang initiation scenario myself, but this would not be a likely place for someone to do that. It is west omaha, so it is more affluent than some areas of town, but this particular area is full of starter homes. It is not a place where the affluent west omaha population lives. It's mostly young families living on the edge of town.
It's been reported that she was found on 168th street just south of the Fort street intersection. I'm assuming (yes, assuming) that being a female who works late nights that she would be somewhat safety savvy. Anyone that is safety savvy would not stop in that intersection if there was a person on foot or something suspicious. Heck, most people don't stop in that intersection at all- they float through. This makes me think one of two things: 1. that she stopped for someone that she knows. or 2. that there was a car in front of her that stopped at the intersection and caused her to stop.
They haven't said if she was shot inside the car our outside. Pictures of the car don't show any bullet holes in the glass (that I've seen) so I would guess outside the car.
The news reports regarding the fire inside the car say that gasoline was poured inside. Perhaps someone was walking down the street with a gas can. But again, why would she stop for someone with a gas can in the middle of the night? No way.
I think all of this points away from it being something random. I think it was planned by someone. I am suspicious about certain people, but don't want to spread any potential rumors.
