This happened only a few blocks from her home, so she had already driven almost all the way home. The intersection actually is almost out in the country. If they were interested in just assaulting her, why? WHO would be interested in just killing her? That's my question.

My feeling is that they were either forcing her to drive or she was a passenger by gunpoint. They most likely had taken that route not her, going out in the country. She sees they are close to home, knows there may not be any other stops or chances for her to jump out anywhere else up the road.

I'm seriously wondering if this was some sort of gang initiation. The way it went down, it seems plausible. This area of Omaha is the most expensive area of town with little crime. What better place for a gang initiation than to kill someone in this upper class neighborhood, throw them into the middle of the street and dump their car in a high crime area and jump in with the rest of the gang who has the other vehicle? This whole thing is pretty terrifying!

Once again, surveillance video of the immediate and even other areas is what would be most helpful. Unfortunately, it's very time consuming.

Facts that we do know is that someone tried to set fire to the vehicle on the driver's side with the belief it would destroy any DNA evidence. So that could indicate someone was driving when she got out of the car. It could be that Andrea felt she was so close to home she could make a run for it and the driver would just leave without her. I would think LE believes it was random because she was so close to home. Why would anyone who knew where she lived be taking her home if they meant to harm her? jmo

I think it is not outside the realm of thinking that someone could have asked for a ride if she stopped somewhere (see link above)

I hope if she stopped they can determine where and see if there was anyone on ccvid etc

Is her purse missing?

The missing purse thing bugs me- LE seems not to want to discuss it which suggests to me that it may be pivotal.

Was she shot inside or outside the car?

It could have been a "fake cop" in the other car with 2 "cops" inside. After stopping Andrea, one "cop" gets in with her at gun point....

Something doesn't make sense in this case...
if robbery or car jack - why kill?
why go all through (killing, taking her car, setting fire to it) - motive?
If gang related, cowardly to kill a woman... pop another gangsta if you want cred.

This seems like a hit to me. As if someone(s) knew where she lived, where she worked, and time she was due home. Motive IMO was to kill her, sorry to say.
Taking her car and leaving it in a bad area is a ruse I've seen done before...

Would hope she would (like I tell the Mrs.) never stop at night, even if cops - drive to the police station...

I live very close to the intersection where she was murdered and have some general information to add.

There is a 🤬🤬🤬 and Go gas station about 2 blocks south of where she was found. She was traveling north and this is one of only two gas stations she would have passed between the bar and where she was found. The other one is difficult to get in and out of. There's also a walmart open 24 hours just south of where she was found.

It's been reported that she was on her normal route home. She would've turned east at that intersection and driven 2 more miles to get to her house. If I were driving from that bar to that neighborhood, that's the same route that I would take.

That route does not take 20 minutes, especially not at night. In Omaha, during the week the stop lights on non-major streets blink yellow or red starting at 10:00pm. She would have only gone through 2 or 3 intersections with working lights that she could've been stopped at. That drive would take 10-12 minutes at most.

That is an intersection on the edge of town. It is very dark at night right there. No street lamps. 4 way stop. It is rare to see a car out there past 10:00pm, let alone at 2:00am. This makes me think that this being random is very unlikely.

The northwest corner of that intersection is a corn field. The northeast corner of that intersection is a neighborhood of starter homes and duplexes. The southeast corner of that intersection is an older acreage property. The southwest corner of that intersection is a neighborhood of starter homes. My friends live in the closest possible house on the southwest corner. They did not hear anything. One of them woke up with the commotion when the police showed up.

Someone above posted that this is an affluent area and it could have been a gang initiation. I have thought of the possibility of a gang initiation scenario myself, but this would not be a likely place for someone to do that. It is west omaha, so it is more affluent than some areas of town, but this particular area is full of starter homes. It is not a place where the affluent west omaha population lives. It's mostly young families living on the edge of town.

It's been reported that she was found on 168th street just south of the Fort street intersection. I'm assuming (yes, assuming) that being a female who works late nights that she would be somewhat safety savvy. Anyone that is safety savvy would not stop in that intersection if there was a person on foot or something suspicious. Heck, most people don't stop in that intersection at all- they float through. This makes me think one of two things: 1. that she stopped for someone that she knows. or 2. that there was a car in front of her that stopped at the intersection and caused her to stop.

They haven't said if she was shot inside the car our outside. Pictures of the car don't show any bullet holes in the glass (that I've seen) so I would guess outside the car.

The news reports regarding the fire inside the car say that gasoline was poured inside. Perhaps someone was walking down the street with a gas can. But again, why would she stop for someone with a gas can in the middle of the night? No way.

I think all of this points away from it being something random. I think it was planned by someone. I am suspicious about certain people, but don't want to spread any potential rumors.

Thanks for the onsite info! Great!

Fabulous post husker. As a fellow Omahan who lives close to the area(s) involved, I agree with everything you've said and pointed out. I think we have reached the same conclusion, but you have stated it far more succinctly and articulately than I ever could.

Thanks again! :seeya:

Husker, welcome!

I've been active on here since 2008. I started with a post on the Hunter/Sherman Dundee murder that wound up going to three threads. It's great to have Omaha people commenting on local crimes such as this.
No I don't think this was random- it appears to have been well planned and executed. It has some hallmarks of a professional hit.

LE thinks it's random. Maybe they got her in the Walmart parking lot or the 🤬🤬🤬 & Go. I think LE has a lot of evidence and will make an arrest soon, I hope.

I was wondering what the reaction was going to be to my post ^^ about how I felt about this case... the motive being to (hate saying it) kill her.
Dumping the car in a bad area seems like something an inexperienced
killer would do. It too obvious a ruse for a real pro to do, they would just kill the victim and that would be it.... inexperienced feel the need to concoct something... make it more elaborate than it needs to be..

ETA - there's also "distancing" where whomever did this knows the crime scene is close to the victim's home, and wants to move it away by moving the car...

I hope this is so! If you have a link to new news please post...

I'm sure that LE knows a lot that is not being released at this time.
