GUILTY NE - Four killed in Omaha crime spree, Nikko Jenkins charged, Aug 2013

I am sure that is true, husker. Law enforcement isn't going to tip its hand while they continue to develop the case. I really believe that the sheriff's statement that this was being investigated as a random act was to keep the perpetrators more comfortable than they would otherwise be, keeping people talking, increasing the chance of slip-ups.

I took some pictures of the bar she worked at. There is a large grocery store across from the back of the bar. The lot the bar is in has three small strip mall type buildings in a u shape. It seems reasonable to me that someone could have been watching from the nearby grocery lot and could have gone unnoticed. There is some parking behind the building that is perpendicular to the bar also.

One story I have heard floating around town is that the same car was seen following her on several separate surveillance footage videos.

Sorry for the poor quality of pics. Not easy to take pics with a child in the car. This is a pic of the back of the bar from the adjacent grocery store lot.

Okay please don't think this is weird, but I was in the general vicinity of the bar this evening and drove the presumed route Andrea took that night. With quite a bit of traffic, and with several stop lights that she wouldn't have had due to the hour, it took me 11, almost 12 minutes from bar to crime scene. If she drove straight through at 2 a.m., it would have taken her 8-9 minutes at most.

With a couple minutes subtracted for the altercation at the end, I think she stopped somewhere briefly. She must have. Opportunities to stop quickly for, say, gas or another convenience store item along the route are few -- there is really only one gas station one would stop at. Not sure, but I wouldn't think a stop at the 24-hour WalMart would be possible in just 8 minutes or so -- that store is huge. You'd waste 5 minutes walking to & from in the parking lot, and then inside the store.

There just HAS to be surveillance video somewhere with her on it, don't you think?

Is it possible that she could have stopped at the grocery store (hy vee) next to the bar? It is open 24 hours.

I'm there all the time and my neighbor works there. I'll ask...

Sure- she could have stopped there to get something for her sick kid. That'd be a great opportunity for someone to intersect with her and start to follow her.

Until I saw the pics I didn't realize just how close to me the bar is. I shop at the HyVee sometimes.

Chovy, I think that's as possible as any other stop along the route. The choices for stops on the route at that hour are, in order from bar to crime scene: Hy-Vee grocery store, gas station across from Village Pointe (not likely because you have to go quite a ways off the route to get into it), WalMart and the 🤬🤬🤬 & Go gas station a few blocks south of the crime scene. How about the McDonald's drive thru or other fast food places at 168th & Maple? Any of them open that late at night?

Not sure it ultimately makes any difference where she stopped, but it's interesting that she most likely stopped somewhere. JMO

Hi Everyone.. new to the forum, but I live in the Omaha area.. about 3 miles from where this happened.

I just received this email a couple of hours ago.. normally I don't buy into these "Chain" emails, but i'll post anyway:

Hi - a friend of mine at work just sent me these details about the murder that took place last week on 168th and Fort. Since you have SUVs as well I wanted to pass this along to you...

Hi Gals - I received this from a friend of mine that is a Douglas County Probation Officer regarding the shooting in Northwest Omaha this week. She's a pretty reliable source so I wanted to share (please forward on if you want). Be careful and on the lookout.

Anyway, found out today at work from my supervisor, whose hubby is OPD sergeant, that they think the killing is gang related. Apparently gang members are targeting females in SUVs. They break in the car, hide inside and then carjack them once the females get it. So let anyone you know who drives a SUV (and is female) that that is happening so they can be aware when they are walking to their cars. They need to start walking around the car and checking on it before they get it. Scary stuff.

Feel free to forward on to anyone else so that everyone can be extra cautious! This hits way too close to home.

XOXO,
Steph

A few things I DON'T like about this email is the lack of details.. specific information.. and the typical "Gang" threat.

However.. part of this would make sense. I don't think she was car-jacked from her workplace. They never would have let her drive 3/4 of the way home first. However, if she did stop at the Wal-mart or 🤬🤬🤬-n-Go (both less then 1 mile from the crime scene and on her route) then I could see someone *possibly* sliding into her car while she was in the store, waiting in the backseat and attacking her after she got back into her vehicle. It still seems very odd to do it on a Tuesday night in the middle of the suburbs, but the OPD Gang Unit probably has a better understanding of what kind of crap the gangs are using as "initiation" these days.

I'll end by saying I don't think her husband was involved at all. Many people have come out and said that they were a very close couple.. lots of friends.. just went on a great family vacation together. He seems more shocked then anything.

I just hope they find whoever did this quickly - it has 1/2 of Omaha completely on edge.

Hello All,
Some of you may remember me from the dundee forum, justice was served. I have no doubt, it will again. I have the closest tie to this case, as I am five minutes walking and one half mile away from the crime scene. If you have any geographic questions, or specific questions about the area, feel free to ask. Furthermore, multiple things don't add up. It has always been the MO of carjackers to not kill people. Murderers don't carjack people, and thief's don't kill as a general rule.
Something you all maybe interested in, not giving my thoughts...I will say, its about 1 mile down the rode from where Mrs. Kruger worked....

Anymore news on the possibility of two killers that a news station tweeted about? My hubby and I used to own a bar - it is a very scary thing to be the only closing & locking up in the wee hours of the morning.

Maybe she stopped at a convenience store for Tylenol for the child with a fever and that's where she was followed/abducted. Any locals know if there is a convenience store near that intersection that would be on her way home?
yes their is, less than one half mile to the south.

Once again, surveillance video of the immediate and even other areas is what would be most helpful. Unfortunately, it's very time consuming.
no cameras for roughly half a mile after 🤬🤬🤬 and Go...at least that can be seen.

Thank you for this. I was wondering if the board was going to stay quiet all day, and hoping it wasn't.

Question: Have you heard any other reports locally about gang members assaulting, murdering, robbing or otherwise terrorizing any other females in SUVs in the Omaha area lately, or ever? I haven't, and I'm a pretty frequent newspaper reader and general news junkie. The gang violence in Omaha seems to stay in gang neighborhoods (for lack of a better term).

While I understand why and appreciate you passing on the e-mail, it kind of has a Snopes sort of urban legend quality to it, don't you think?

Oh to be a fly on the wall in the office of a homicide detective on this one. There is so much we don't know and so much not being released, for understandable reasons.

Do not put the cart in front of the horse, no connection to gang activity. To be fair, their was a purse snatching in the general vicinity last night. Gangs talk, I think something would have been said by now.

You are right Nick -- I kind of already have my mind made up (I am a statistics junkie, from my master's work in criminal justice), but I am seriously interested in hearing others' viewpoints and their take on the evidence. That's what I think is so great about forum boards like this -- people who are interested in the same mystery can exchange super intelligent analysis and ideas/arguments that shed new light on something one hasn't thought about. The give and take here is fabulous.

I appreciate each and every post and poster.

Hi Nick, the Dundee thing was a wild ride, wasn't it? I actually think our discussion contributed in a small way toward catching the killer, but that's all I will say for now about that.

If this was a carjacking, and if as the one poster suggested there is a gang of carjackers at work in West O, then why haven't there been other such episodes, or did they botch their first heist? No I don't think that is what this was but I am open to change of mind if the evidence is there. For my money it still looks like a hit that was made to look like a carjacking, perhaps thought up by someone who is unfamiliar with how these things go down.

I don't view the Walmart incident as related other than as an indicator of how things are getting bad out here.
