GUILTY NE - Four killed in Omaha crime spree, Nikko Jenkins charged, Aug 2013

  • #121
Hi Everyone.. new to the forum, but I live in the Omaha area.. about 3 miles from where this happened.

I just received this email a couple of hours ago.. normally I don't buy into these "Chain" emails, but i'll post anyway:

Hi - a friend of mine at work just sent me these details about the murder that took place last week on 168th and Fort. Since you have SUVs as well I wanted to pass this along to you...

Hi Gals - I received this from a friend of mine that is a Douglas County Probation Officer regarding the shooting in Northwest Omaha this week. She's a pretty reliable source so I wanted to share (please forward on if you want). Be careful and on the lookout.

Anyway, found out today at work from my supervisor, whose hubby is OPD sergeant, that they think the killing is gang related. Apparently gang members are targeting females in SUVs. They break in the car, hide inside and then carjack them once the females get it. So let anyone you know who drives a SUV (and is female) that that is happening so they can be aware when they are walking to their cars. They need to start walking around the car and checking on it before they get it. Scary stuff.

Feel free to forward on to anyone else so that everyone can be extra cautious! This hits way too close to home.

XOXO,
Steph

------------

A few things I DON'T like about this email is the lack of details.. specific information.. and the typical "Gang" threat.

However.. part of this would make sense. I don't think she was car-jacked from her workplace. They never would have let her drive 3/4 of the way home first. However, if she did stop at the Wal-mart or 🤬🤬🤬-n-Go (both less then 1 mile from the crime scene and on her route) then I could see someone *possibly* sliding into her car while she was in the store, waiting in the backseat and attacking her after she got back into her vehicle. It still seems very odd to do it on a Tuesday night in the middle of the suburbs, but the OPD Gang Unit probably has a better understanding of what kind of crap the gangs are using as "initiation" these days.

I'll end by saying I don't think her husband was involved at all. Many people have come out and said that they were a very close couple.. lots of friends.. just went on a great family vacation together. He seems more shocked then anything.

I just hope they find whoever did this quickly - it has 1/2 of Omaha completely on edge.

That is terrifying if that is true. :( I have an SUV and that is so scary.

Thank you for this. I was wondering if the board was going to stay quiet all day, and hoping it wasn't.

Question: Have you heard any other reports locally about gang members assaulting, murdering, robbing or otherwise terrorizing any other females in SUVs in the Omaha area lately, or ever? I haven't, and I'm a pretty frequent newspaper reader and general news junkie. The gang violence in Omaha seems to stay in gang neighborhoods (for lack of a better term).

While I understand why and appreciate you passing on the e-mail, it kind of has a Snopes sort of urban legend quality to it, don't you think?

Oh to be a fly on the wall in the office of a homicide detective on this one. There is so much we don't know and so much not being released, for understandable reasons.

Hi - Yes, I TOTALLY think that it has an Urban Legend feel to it.. but it was the somewhat specific tie to this incident that caught my attention. Like I said in my original post.. I don't know if I believe it at all - but thought it was interesting that less then a week after the homicide, it was being forwarded around.

As for another post about a "gang of car-jackers" working West Omaha.. that wasn't really my thought on this. If this angle were to be true, I read it more to be a "Gang Initiation" type of a thing - where some wanna-be gang members were told to drive out to West Omaha and kill someone. The intent seemed to be to kill in this crime. If the goal was to car-jack, they never would have found the vehicle.. it would have been chopped up or shipped out of town by 5:00am.. not dropped off in a back alley waiting to be found.

Luckily in Omaha we haven't seen a lot of random crimes like this.. but I can't help but think about the story that happened in Oklahoma just a few days before when 3 "bored" teens decided to just randomly kill that Australian baseball player. Does some Gang Leader see that, see the attention it brought, and decide to order something similar?

I just hope this gets solved. Quickly!

Hello everyone. It's nice to see so many familiar faces from the Dundee board. I followed it religiously and posted occasionally under a different name.

Just as that case did, this case has also hit very close to home - both literally and figuratively.

After reading the post last night about gang members targeting women in SUVs I talked to a friend who is very much in the know about this case. He said that is not true and not at all the direction this investigation is headed. I hope that eases some fears. <modsnip>

I am amazed at all the new Omaha posters we are getting on here. Many have just signed up- I assume people are Googling the case and run across our discussion, however, it's great.

You are right Nick -- I kind of already have my mind made up (I am a statistics junkie, from my master's work in criminal justice), but I am seriously interested in hearing others' viewpoints and their take on the evidence. That's what I think is so great about forum boards like this -- people who are interested in the same mystery can exchange super intelligent analysis and ideas/arguments that shed new light on something one hasn't thought about. The give and take here is fabulous.

I appreciate each and every post and poster.

Hope I included everyone.

Former Omaha/NE native here. Been a longtime lurker who originally started following the site when the Dundee case first broke years ago. I'm normally playing catch up on the threads, so usually by the time I have a thought to post someone has beat me to it. Need to speed up my game! Just wanted to drop in and thank everyone for their interest in the case. Omaha has really had an odd set of violent crimes over the last few years and it's encouraging to see all the discussion they spawn on here. I get the vibe I'm thinking a long the same lines as many here, in that this wasn't as 'random' as LE is leading us to believe. Hope the responsible parties are found and brought to justice soon. It was so exciting and refreshing to see the arrest in the Dundee crimes although I wish it would have came a little sooner so we didn't have to lose two more innocent lives in the process. Anyway, I'll continue to follow and chime in if/when I feel like I have something of value to add.

I just saw on the midday news that the gangs-targeting-women-in-SUVs e-mail has been confirmed a hoax.

Yeah, had a feeling someone was trying to capitalize on the current unrest going on.

Good afternoon all- a friend of mine who knows Andrea Kruger from the gym told me last Friday that she heard (rumor!) that the surveillance footage from several places showed the same vehicle following Andrea at those places on her way home. The vehicle was said to have 3 white males in it.

I would otherwise feel that the purse snatching reported at a Walmart 1 mile south of where Andrea worked was unrelated. See here:

http://www.ketv.com/news/local-news...aha/-/9674510/21660022/-/la8uqcz/-/index.html

But then I read this news article today. One of the stories I read or saw said the men were reportedly white:
http://www.omaha.com/article/20130828/NEWS/130828923/1685

All 3 stories (if you believe the rumor) purport that there are multiple white males in a vehicle committing crimes. Is it possible that Andrea's death could have been a different crime gone wrong? Perhaps these boys/men are working together to commit as many different types of crime as they can as some sort of initiation rite/stupid idea? Perhaps they intended to rape Andrea and she jumped out by her own home and thought she could run for it? Or maybe their goal was murder.

It is odd to have this many unusual crimes in Omaha so close together, odder still that at least 2 good reports include a specific reference to multiple white men in a car.

I know this is a weird theory but I wanted to share.

Once again, I will not comment on specifics but just like I said in Dundee in may, not to toot my own horn, I was right. Dcso is working around the clock.
P.S... Go to twitter.com/emilyszink then, proceed to recent images...should be the 5th photo...stunning image.

Sorry but I don't follow this. I used that address in my search and went to someone's twitter account but do not see anything pertaining to this case.
