According to the article she certainly was and is trying to get out of it by, nonetheless, mental illness 😡😡 Just sickening 😤

Guevara’s plea “closes the door on a very, very sad, emotional case when you have the death of a mother and a 5-year-old and, of course, a baby found in a dumpster,” Kleine said. “It’s just hard to imagine that somebody would do that to somebody else, let alone a child.”

Guevara’s defense has said that she suffers from possible “battered-partner syndrome” at the hands of Martinez-Marinero and post-traumatic stress disorder from a previous crime. As a 13- or 14-year-old in Mexico, she says, she was the victim of a kidnapping by a boyfriend who wanted to force her into the sex trade. Mexican police did nothing, the family said, so the family fled to the United States.

Guevara told police she couldn’t believe what was happening and didn’t know that Martinez-Marinero would throw Josue into the river until he ripped him out of his car seat.

Guevara was sentenced to 6 to 14 years today. And then she will be deported after she is released.
