I'm glad that they have set the trial date for this punk. I hope and pray that Jessica's body is found before then though. I think that LE has all of the evidence that they need though for a conviction. Bless Jessica.

KETV.com - News - Edwards Attorney Asks For O'Grady Autopsy

On Tuesday morning, Edwards's attorney asked the prosecutor for an autopsy report to be filed on O'Grady. Since the body has not been found, no autopsy has been performed. The tactic was a way to get into the court record that there is no body associated with the murder case, attorneys said...

WOWT | Autopsy Request Denied

Chris Edwards' defense was trying to take the first step toward a motion to dismiss the murder case against their client Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Edwards' defense went before a judge and requested a copy of O'Grady's autopsy report, arguing that if no body has been found there should be no trial.

Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning calls the tactic "outrageous."

"They know full well there's no autopsy report because Christopher Edwards has never told us where Jessica O'Grady is, and only he knows that," Dunning said...

Thank you Jersey Girl for posting I was just checking on Jessica this morning and came up with nothing. I pray the LE are still working on this case.

You're very welcome, mom. I've always had the impression from the LE on this case that they are taking it very seriously, and are doing everything they can. I hope and pray that they find Jessica soon ... BEFORE the trial.

WOWT | Defense Wants Dismissal

Three weeks after Chris Edwards' attorneys filed a request for Jessica O'Grady's autopsy results, the defense has asked that the murder case against Edwards be dismissed...

"If they're saying our client did something nefarious, I want to have a body to have our doctors examine it," defense attorney Steve Leffler said.

Prosecutors say the successful disposal of O'Grady's body should not be rewarded. They also say that even without it, they have a case against Edwards...

Meanwhile, O'Grady's family continues to attend every hearing and pre-trial motion as it searches for closure in the girl's disappearance...

The judge is expected to rule on the defense team's motion at the next hearing date, scheduled for Nov. 7.

A separate request by Edwards' lawyers was denied Monday. The judge said no to a request for bond, meaning Edwards will remain in jail until his trial.

This case isn't going to be dismissed. I guess every defense attorney has to try though. His boy isn't going anywhere but back to his cell to await a trial.

I was really hoping that Jessica's body would be found. I think he cut her up and put her in various dumpsters behind stores and that was it. No one would pay attention to garbage bags that look like every other garbage bag. He did buy garbage bags at the store when he bought the cleaning products.

I wonder if this kid still looks arrogant. I'll bet he doesn't as he has had some time to think about where he is headed. I wonder if LE think his family had anything to do with the cleanup and disposal of Jessica's body. I think they know that they helped with the cleanup but the disposal????

How soon is this little creep supposed to go to trial? The next court date isn't until the first week of Nov. Sounds like the trial is a ways off.

In an article I read last week, it stated that the trial is still set for December 4th.

Thanks. I hope that someone on the boards lives close enough to keep track of what is happening during the trial. I wish CTV would cover it but that is doubtful. I'll settle for newspaper articles daily so we know what is happening.

It's always surprised me how little attention this case has gotten. At least Jessica's local papers do seem to be following this case closely, and also seem to be pretty thorough in their coverage.

I live in Omaha, and this case has had alot of media attention.

No, I don't know anyone who is going. The Omaha World Herald would have the best coverage at www.omaha.com.

That is good. Know anyone who is attending the trial Kelly? Can you give me a link to the newspaper who would do the best coverage of the trail please? I really want to keep up with it and see for myself that this guy is going to get what he has coming to him.

The Gateway - Murder suspect awaits judge’s decision in case of missing sophomore

The man charged with murdering a UNO sophomore was again denied bond, but awaits decision on whether or not the case will be dismissed...

At the hearing, a motion to dismiss the case was entered as well as an oral motion to have his bond reviewed... The oral motion for a bond review was ruled on the bench and denied by Judge Russel Derr...

Higgins said Edwards should be out, but the judge feels that the accused crimes are too heinous...

Derr gave the defense two weeks to provide case law that shows Edwards’ case should be dismissed. The prosecution will then be given seven days to respond to the brief.

“That issue will be taken up on Nov. 7,” said Kuhse...

“[Edwards] is holding up quite well; he’s an avid reader,” Higgins said. “He’s been biding his time.”

Bless Jesssica's parents. That has to be so hard to go ahead and have a service when the body of your child has never been found. My heart really goes out to them.

If that arrogant monster thinks his case is going to be dismissed he he out of his mind. If the judge won't give him bail he sure isn't going to dismiss the case. We know that this is a step every defense attorney does...in hopes...but it never happens.

The Gateway - Memorial service held for UNO sophomore Jessica O'Grady

... The memorial came as some closure to those who have been searching for O’Grady since her disappearance more than five months ago...

The family and friends who gathered at the memorial service found peace in each other, said Shauna Stanzel, O’Grady’s aunt.

“I pray that the folks here, her family and her friends, be able to carry on and be thankful for the time we all knew Jessica,” said Stanzel. “I don’t know if you can ever thank people; thank people for thinking about us, thinking about our family...”

Even with the memorial behind them, the family has not given up their search for O’Grady’s body...
