John Bach ultimately was found guilty. Even the best lawyers can't get someone off if there is enough evidence.

It should be interesting to watch the courtroom drama.

Have a safe, relaxing trip, Snick. We promise to post anything interesting, but you seem to already know the best info anyway.

Lots more information released here:

"It was observed that there were significant similarities between the wound patterns on both (sets of) victims," the affidavit said. "(All four) had similar multiple stab wounds to the right side of their necks. It was also determined that knives from (each) residence were used in the attacks on (each victim) and also left at the scene."

Really interesting that he would purposely use knives found at their home to kill them, not how most would go about a murder, you'd think he'd bring his weapon and not leave anything to chance.

Snick, I am sure we will see all the smoke and mirrors from the defense for this jack leg. They will do everything they can to delay AG's inevitable fate because that is what defense attys do.

I watched the hearing this morning and his profile looks very similar to the composite sketch. (Kudos to the sketch artist.) I wish we had a booking photo of his profile.

I noticed the same thing about the sketch. The witnesses are not always accurate, but in this case it sure looks like someone was very observant.

WELCOME to WS bob_lob_law! Thanks for the link. Lot's of great info on how LE pieced things together to build the case.

Odd that he used knives from the homes to stab the victims. I was surprised to read that Dr. B was stabbed in addition to being shot multiple times. I'd bet he probably had a gun when he went to the Hunter home if Dr Hunter was his intended victim. I wonder if he planned to go after the employee he tried to sabotage during an exam also. Gosh this is chilling because this bad guy is a diabolical killer SK. JMO.

[II'm drunk, I am an alcoholic," Garcia said, according to the report. "I drink all day and night and I have been driving around in my Ferrari drinking and just wanted to show you I had no weapons and that I was just being courteous."

The report said Garcia declined to take a field sobriety test, saying, "I told you I am an alcoholic."

Once Garcia was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the officer noted several empty cans of beer on the passenger side of the Ferrari.

Garcia's blood-alcohol-content was recorded at 0.211, more than twice the legal limit for driving.
In a series of questions that followed Garcia's DUI arrest, he told police that he had started drinking the previous morning.

What were you doing the last 3 hours? "I was looking for peanuts and beer," Garcia responded.

Where was his point of origin? "My hotel or a strip club," Garcia said.

Asked whether he was ill, Garcia said he suffered from many mental and physical illnesses.

He was angry that the clerk kept his license the night before he was arrested. He paid for his hotel room with cash and didn't want anyone to trail him. He was on the run.

I don't know if my post was changed previously. I tried to say that despite his lawyers John Wayne Gacy was found guilty.

Lots of info in Omaha World Herald today.

Definition of serial killer doesn't mean victims in the tens, just multiple with " cooling off"
period in between.

Our suspect is supposed to be in Omaha by Tuesday.

The Mods should pull the Brumback (University professor and wife killed) thread into this one, since it was all the same killer and we are getting double posts. Thanks.

Has he been charged with both sets of crimes??

Dr. Anthony J. Garcia waived extradition Wednesday morning in a Union County, Illinois, court. That means he’ll return to Nebraska to face trial in the deaths of Dr. Roger Brumback and his wife, Mary, earlier this year, as well as for the deaths of 11-year-old Thomas Hunter and 57-year-old Shirlee Sherman in 2008.

Garcia is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

OMG! :thud:

Garcia family neighbor shaken by accusations

Governale said Garcia kept to himself mostly, compared with his siblings.

"He's not outward like the other two," Governale said. "Anthony's been kind of a loner."

Among the property seized from the Garcia family home was a silver Honda CRV that matches the description of a vehicle witnesses said they saw around the time of the 2008 deaths of Hunter and his family's housekeeper in Omaha.

"Some son had given (the Honda) to them; they were proud about that," Governale said.

The neighbor said he believes Garcia's parents got the Honda about two years ago.

fran, I saw a quote in The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson a few days ago that reminds me of others descriptions of Garcia.

"I had come to regard him as a loner with no real past and a future so vague there was no sense talking about it.".

It seems Garcia was very guarded about his personal life and was on the road to nowhere. Garcia was also turned down for a license in 3 other states, Kentucky, Texas and I can't recall the 3rd one. There's no telling where this guy has been. He truly is a traveling stranger. (as one of our former astros referred to the perp back in the day.)

An Omaha World Herald article focused on why Garcia wasn't a suspect in 2008. It seems they did spend a considerable amount of time looking at Belenky.

Great article bluesman.

Garcia had been kicked out of his residency after 11 months in 2001 for allegedly trying to sabotage another resident who was taking a critical exam. There was actually another resident also booted out over the same incident, though Garcia was seen as the instigator.

First mention of a second resident involved in the original incident. From bluesman link above.

A new great article that talks about Garcia's life and has interviews with many neighbors.

When he visited with the Ortizes, Garcia talked about his Illinois practice and his years growing up in California. Garcia, who has never married, was still bemoaning the loss of a high school girlfriend.

“He talked about her that day, and I thought 'Let it go,' ” said Sue Ortiz.

Tony Ortiz, sitting next to his wife on their couch, nodded in agreement. “He doesn't let things go.”
