As far as Bailey Boswell, who police say met Loofe on the dating app, Tinder, Trail says she had nothing to do with her death.

If he wasn't present at SL's death (he protested innocence in the two videos), how can he say with certainty that BB had nothing to do with it?

"She never had a felony conviction. They say Bailey did this with Aubrey doing all these crimes, but she's never been convicted of a felony," said Trail.

I don't believe she has yet been tried in court for any of the felonies she's been charged with, has she?

The reporter gave him a chance to declare his innocence in this taped interview and he didn't do that.

What does all this mean? Just bizarre!

Why would he be asked about a very small, one leader cult who's crimes seemingly never left the farm and the now dead leader was imprisoned 30 years ago?

There’s been a lot of local rummors regarding the Rulo cult and the possibility of AT being involved. I imagine that’s why it was referenced. Scoobydoo, You mention the Tina Brandon case (Humboldt murders). You’re correct, that took place near Falls City. Same with the Rulo Cult. They all lie in Richardson County, NE where Doug Mertz was and still is the County Attorney. The same Doug Mertz that AT claimed was his attorney. If you’re familiar with the Tenna story or the movie, then you're probably familiar with Doug Mertz’s role in that as well.

That's interesting! For what it's worth, the ryan group seems to have been interconnected with other similar groups, but that was 30 years ago

After listening to the audio, I am more puzzled. Why would he say "rulo cult"??? He would have been around 21 at the time, and isn't from here...people in Nebraska barely remember this case and there is no connection between this case and a wider "cult" even in local gossip that I am aware of.....anybody have any insight?
I do remember traveling through there several years after it happened while on a trip with my parents. We stopped at a gas station I believe is no longer there, and I remember having a creepy feeling the whole town was watching us through their windows. Probably my imagination, I was a kid and knew something bad happened there but didn't know what. In the few times I've passed through since then I still get a weird vibe. Again, probably my imagination.....
I believe they were reading Facebook posts and someone there made the connection between him living in Falls City and the Rulo cult, he commented on it in one of the videos. I believe that's how this all came about. The media probably asked him about it again (I'm just guessing here).

I've had to go through the Falls City/Rulo area too, and I had the same feeling.

I just can't imagine his attorney is happy about Mr. Loose Lips! This guy is gonna talk himself right to the death penalty!

If anyone has more interest in the Rulo Cult, there is a book about it called Evil Harvest. I had a teacher who was from the area the murders took place in, and she recommended the book. I haven't read it yet.

Interesting that AT brought it up. It does seem very random. As an above poster said, there have been rumors about it and he did mention it in the first video. I haven't personally seen more than one or two people mention Rulo in regards to this case up until now. AT seems fixated on this rumor.

Just my opinion, but AT seems to me to have the demeanor of a wannabe cult leader. I could see him trying to copy crimes like this just for some sense of power and notoriety. It's bizarre how much he thrives on the attention.

Bolded by me

He is such a con-man and manipulator. What does Bailey not having ever been convicted of a felony have to do with her involvement with Sydney? Nothing. This is how crazy-maker manipulators talk.

Agree! I think his objective might be to get BB off the hook and to get a plea deal for himself to escape the DP. JMO

Nah. I think he's playing mind games and in the end, he won't protect her. He's making himself look good. It's all a scam.

My opinion only.

That’s my opinion as well. I think the only person he’s looking out for is himself. The more B.B. reads in the media about AT defending her involvement in the case, the more likely she is to keep quiet. Again, just my opinion.

How much access to media do they have while in jail? I've been wondering if they get to read and watch news about the case.

Yes, it was him and the friend that they dropped Sydney off at who committed murder.

BB went home and made cookies.

I wondered the same thing.

This is what I think, too. He doesn't want her to start talking. IMO

Why would he bring up the "rulo cult"? It happened over 30 years ago, and seemingly involved an isolated group whose leader was into drugs, sodomy, and control. There never was talk of a "rulo cult", only of this small survivalist group on a farm north of town. The dismemberment of a random girl was not their MO......

He was asked about any cult involvement and he brings up Rulo cult and says that happened years ago. That doesn't answer the question (not that I expect him to admit to a cult connection). That is another example of how manipulators talk. They seem like they are answering, but they are not.

He says some weird thing about Rulo and then you think - well, of course he's not involved with that event from years ago....and your mind is where he wants it to be.

Like a magician - they make you look at the wrong hand.

He's a snake and can't talk straight. Luckily, LE seems calm, cool, and collected. They are not fooled.

They can watch TV and I'm sure they get the paper. She has seen all of this.

Oh wow I didn't even think about the attorney connection and yes Rulo is like 9 miles from Falls City. I had been on a Rulo research tangent for the last two days as I had never heard of it before. I was pointed in that direction by a local, but it wasn't from a social media conversation. Ironically, after I had done all this reading and watching videos on the case, here comes AT to deny the claims. The fact that AT brings it up is strange, imo.

I can see why it may have been considered. Aside from rumors there are many coincidences too. There's the whole anti-authority/government aspect, which BB and AT seem to conform to and admit openly in their videos. The multi-partner relationship thing, and the marijuana aspect are other similarities. Also many of the towns and states connected to the Rulo cult are also places where AT has connections. Interstate theft and weapons charges was also what lead to the Rulo cult being exposed. And this part is jmo but AT and MR do share a physical resemblance...even the intermittently photographed wonky eye. I had even considered maybe AT was somehow related. AT would have been 16 years old in May of 1983 when the Ryan family moved from Kansas to Rulo, Nebraska.

The Rulo cult is truly one of the most horrible and gruesome cases I have ever researched. From my understanding, the Rulo cult itself may be no more, but the cult related ideology continues. It's way bigger than just Rulo. It's one of those things that the locals in many smaller Midwest towns are aware of, they just don't talk about it.

Here are a couple other supportive links on the case as well:

Overall, I can see why it sparked fear in the community. Now that AT has publicly ruled that out, I wonder if it makes them feel better. I am guessing not really. I also wonder, does AT think he is really fooling anyone? It seems to me, his motivation for speaking out to media is mainly to get messages across to BB. Perhaps he is hoping to intimidate her, influence her, and/or play on her sympathies.

Hmm...wonder if his conversations include some coded messages for her. They were together, on the run, and it's not out of question that they would come up with some "plan" regarding what to do and say after arrest.

If they are into control/submission, they might even be enjoying this incarceration and attention in some perverse way. I wouldn't be surprised at this point.

If AT did have connections to the Rulo Cult or was operating under a similar ideology (which is 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 supremacy), how would BB's former life factor in considering most of her friends were black, and her child is mixed?
