RIP, Tyler. And condolences to Tyler's loved ones and all those who have been affected by his disappearance.

Apparently the area Tyler was found had been previously searched. The video also said "they are confident it is not a homicide". Lot of pictures of the perimeter of the treed area in the linked video.

Wow that'd be wild if he was this close the whole time.
Always amazed how often people who are well searched for are found within 1500 yards of where they were last seen. It happens way more often than one would think, even in areas that were already searched. Always impresses on me how truly hard it can be to find someone who died in the outdoors, even when it’s not heavily wooded.

What is makes me wonder, since he was found in a tree, is whether or not searchers looked up, or if they kept their gaze on the ground looking for clues.

Yes I read that after. I assume that’s how he was missed and why they are fairly certain no foul play was involved. Remains can be easily missed on the ground, but definitely the tendency is to look down on the ground, not up towards the trees.

I’m really hoping this will bring some kind of resolution and peace to his family and children, and let his poor husband stop being harassed by people.

I can't believe Tyler was found that close to home. And here I was thinking his body was in terrain not searched in. He must have been extremely obscured by branches and leaves for searchers to have missed him. I never thought Tyler was a victim of foul play. I thought either he died of hypothermia or self-harmed.

RIP Tyler and condolences to his family.

It's the cars on the hill across the road that have me stumped. In any case, I think "Highway 77 and West Pioneers" is a general description for Wilderness Park, which is east of the highway and runs North/South for a couple of miles. It's a pretty rugged area, but not so big that with all the people that were searching, it seems someone would have found him (or whomever it is). Not that I think there is anything nefarious about it, just feels weird to me because it's so close to where he lived and seemed, at least to me, to be the most likely place to run to.
He was actually found on the northwest side of Highway 77. Wilderness park is east of the highway. He was basically found in the backyard of houses that run along Folsom Street, which is where the dogs lost his scent.

Well, this is likely the reason. People tend to look down for bodies, not up. Did he hang himself way up high so no one would see him? Otherwise it's hard to imagine how a dead body didn't just fall out of the tree if he shot himself, for instance. Did he strap himself to the trunk? Very odd.

The Lincoln Police Department got a call just before 9:45 a.m. from a person walking their dog saying there was remains of a body in a tree.

Oh my gosh, I'm even more heart broken if this is true.

My mind is going through possibilties. Are the trees in the area evergreen or deciduous? He disappeared in November, found in March, so that doesn't make sense.

I suppose it's simple - searchers weren't looking up :(

Can someone take a look at the map link. If he was found 1,000 yards from his home, is what I indicated correct?

I think its short sighted to think that the reason he wasn't found was that searchers were looking in the wrong direction. There are countless cases of searchers missing bodies in all settings, all weather, all locales. Searchers are highly fallible (dogs too). There is no reason to think they failed just because of his location.

I guess my point is, if we're trying to learn a lesson here, the lesson isn't to look up but to keep searching again and again very near to the last known location. Because an area was searched does not mean its cleared.

Sorry I’m not very good at this. He was found in the yellow circles area. His house is approximately where the red X is.

As sad as it is when all hope is gone for a family, at least they can know now what happened to Tyler and maybe find some peace. I’m glad for his partner that any speculation surrounding Tyler’s disappearance will end too.

I've been on a few searches and we never really looked up into trees. We were looking for an injured person or the remains. In a grid search, it's all you can do to just cover all the ground in your immediate area.

Yes, it will be a bittersweet relief for his grieving partner.

I feel bad now that I was so suspicious of him. He was the last one to see him and they had been fighting, so I did wonder if he was somehow involved. I think Tyler's family expressed suspicions as well, which made me wonder.

At least there is a bit of closure in that now there is no more wondering about where, and what, etc.

I think it’s natural to have those thoughts, particularly knowing what we know from other cases here.

Yes, that’s correct. At the time I made my post, we only knew “near Hwy 77 and W Pioneers Blvd.
