Who is Michael P. from Zeewolde?
He was sentenced to many years' imprisonment for very violent rapes and a series of robberies. And although his criminal record was considerable at an early age, the 27-year-old Michael P. from Zeewolde was by no means ashamed of it. Indeed, he was 'proud and happy' that his dream had come true.
What Michael P. has done with the missing Anne Faber (25) from Utrecht and how their paths crossed, is still part of the police investigation.
The police suspect a chance encounter. What is certain for the investigators is that P. is involved in the disappearance of Anne Faber from Utrecht, who was last seen on Friday 29 September. Anne possibly met P. that Friday evening,
P. who is someone who can safely be described as a cool-blooded figure who does not shy from brutal violence to get his own satisfaction.
This becomes apparent in 2010, when he ruthlessly strikes during the festivities around Queen's Day in Nijkerk. Under coercion of a fake firearm, he forces two defenceless girls aged 16 and 17 into the bushes. As he directs a firearm at them, he forces them to take off their clothes and then has them perform sexual acts. For a moment he is disturbed when partygoers approach the bushes. The girls are dressing up again, while the weapon is still directed at them. Once P. finds that the coast is safe again, he goes with them to a remote spot and forces them to have sex again.
According to a fellow suspect, who was waiting in a car during the rape, P. had been planning to rape women for some time.
After the rape, the violence for P. is not over yet. Together with the other suspect, he commits a series of robberies in Nijkerk and Harderwijk, where money and telephones are stolen. In these robberies, too, there is considerable violence. According to his lawyer in 2011, P. was addicted to cocaine at the time. The P. family is known in Zeewolde. Mother and sister ran a cafe in the centre.
In Zeewolde, the story goes that P. mistreated his father and disfigured his then girlfriend with a broken beer glass when she wanted to end the relationship. A resident of Zeewolde, who knows him from the past, calls P. a 'completely derailed type'.
In 2011, the court ruled heavily on P. and imposed sixteen years' imprisonment.
"In particular because of the seriousness and horrible nature of the rapes, in conjunction with the statements of a witness and co-defendant that the suspect was proud of the rapes and pleased that a dream had come true."
Ironically, the judiciary found that punishment was too high, followed by an appeal. In the end, P. was sentenced to a total of twelve years' imprisonment. Because P. did not want to cooperate with a personality investigation at the Pieter Baan Centre, the court could not impose a hospital order on him.
This year P. ended up in Den Dolder, with Aventurijn, after he had been detained for seven years. Aventurijn is an establishment of Altrecht for forensic psychiatry. There P. worked on a return to society. It is not yet known whether he was under supervision, and what that supervision looked like. On Monday afternoon P. was arrested by the police, after which he was interrogated in the evening hours. The results of this are not yet known.
