@Fika, I’m wondering if you have time to assist what comes to the Dutch media… Regards from your “neighbour”, too :)

Hi ,

Of course I can assist with the Dutch media.
So far nothing new except the cafe name out in the news( as posted upthread).

I know Almere very well, it’s a city 44min (train ) away from my hometown Utrecht.
Ive been there more times then I can count. It’s a safe town with low crime rate and very family oriented. Lots of people work in Utrecht but own villas in Almere because it’s much cheaper.

Unfortunately we have in the Netherlands many men vanishing after nights out and ending up in water. I believe that is what has happened here as well but I hope I’m wrong and he just took off to have sometime for himself. I have a feeling tho that it’s going to be the water it happened so many times already before here some more links to prove that :

Thank you for joining, Fika!

According to “De Telegraaf” Edward is living
in Kameleonstraat so if he was heading back home his route would have been Baltimoreplein 7 - Kameleonstraat.

“The Irishman's sister has now traveled to the Netherlands to help with the search. According to her, he was first reported missing by his employer in the Netherlands when he failed to show up at the office on February 20.

She says that her brother has been living with some others in the Kameleonstraat for several years and works as an engineer. “If you can help me in any way, please let me know,” she pleads. She focuses emphatically on 'Dutch people and Dutch speakers'.”

Hmm.. some things that I find confusing in article above not sure if its bad reporting.

He was last seen Friday the 18th February and reported missing on the 20th by his boss after not showing to work but 20th was Sunday, it’s surely unusual to work on Sundays??
He lived with some people ( probably roommates IMO) but nobody noticed that he hasn’t come home ? Little weird I don’t know what you think??

Looking at maps, he was supposed to cross only one canal directly when walking home. There is no way around it so he had to definitely cross it. Canal right behind Dirk Van den Broek supermarket at Wezelstraat crossing Wezelbrug (bridge) or alternate route on the left a small path.
If he is in the water this canal seems like the only (logical) option unless of course he after leaving the bar went up (not on his way home) for some reason.

It’s unfortunately so common occurrence.
Whenever a man goes missing after a night out my first thought is always the water. I unfortunately think the same has happened here as well.

same
and it's not just your country
it's happening in the U.S. and Canada and the UK too
as evidenced by many threads here at WS

is that the canal on his route home?

Hmm looking at the map I thought about the smaller canal behind a supermarket that we might have fallen in but lage vaart is close by and they seem connected.
Im attaching screenshot of map black marker is the bar, yellow marker is the small canal he was supposed to cross on a way home and other yellow marker on left side is the canal he was found. I dont of course know exact location where he was found so I just marked canals name.

I wish we knew how to stop these guys from dying this way.

People, male or female need to be aware how their companions make their way home.

Same as neighbours should become involved when they see things happening with the kids next door. Just report it, if it troubles you in any way. And keep on. I'm sure that we can do that anonymously.

We need to look out for each other.
