I don't know the Dutch legal system, and what legal rights the police have to do a search on different genealogical sites.

I agree. That's not what he said though. He said it would be "undesirable," but in my opinion, identifying Does is always desirable. So I'm just choosing to believe he doesn't understand enough about both the scientific facts and the mental/emotional side and benefits of genetic geneology. JMO.

A new theory about the Heul girl has been published :

Was the murdered Heulmeisje a member of a Roma family?

"While Perlot places the Heulmeisje in the world of heroin and prostitution, this reader looks at Roma and Sinti communities in the 1970s. In his email to the editors, he points to groups who were frequently on the move, often stateless, and who lived out of sight of government agencies."

" During the same period, a large Roma family, known as the Romanov, moved with over a hundred people from the Netherlands to Germany. Many families with many children, moving from place to place. The letter writer's point is: was the Heulmeisje perhaps a young gypsy?""

"A large Roma family of over a hundred people was traveling from the Netherlands to Germany around that time."

MISDAADCOLUMN: Was het vermoorde Heulmeisje lid van een Roma-familie? | Panorama
I doubt it. Roma would not dump her on the side of the road. They are usually very observant Christians and adamant on very elaborate Christian burials. Honor killings etc are also rare among Roma. Even if she fell into disgrace and was murdered by someone Roma (husband, family, traffickers, pimps etc.) they would still give her a decent burial.
