Her reaction in the video is priceless. Welcome to the real world kiddo! :loser:
This child saddens me a lot. I'm not making excuses for her just pointing some things out. Her family is a train wreck, she appears to never have had any significant discipline in her life and yet she's talented as a dancer singer and actress. Everybody in her life seems to have only wanted to use her and not love her as much as they should. If she gets her head on straight and works hard she could become a memorable actress. JMO
This isn't "just" your opinion, Dan. It's mine, too.
I hope the posters who are saying they "have no sympathy" merely mean they believe LL is being treated fairly, considering her repeated bad behavior.
Yes, I know Lohan has been incredibly privileged in many ways. But she has also been treated as a commodity since a very young age--by her own family and everyone else. The pressure of being the primary meal ticket not only for your entire family but for almost everyone you know has to have an affect on a child's psycho-social development. Yes, there are some child stars who seem to thrive, but for every Shirley Temple, there seem to be 10 Judy Garlands; for every Neal Patrick Harris, 10 Todd Bridges. I'm sure the parents of the success stories deserve enormous credit, but NOBODY is going to claim Miss Lohan has model parents.
She quite obviously is in considerable distress and, yes, there's no question she herself has contributed to the mess she is in. But she's also very young and I see no reason why she doesn't merit sympathy. Not special treatment, mind you, but basic human compassion.
Almost all of us contribute in some way to our own problems. The notion that one must be pure as the driven snow to deserve compassion is one of those Puritanical legacies we really need to discard.
Again and to sum up, a bit of jail and forced rehab may be the best thing for Lohan. I hope so. I'm just saying we can feel sympathy while also recognizing that there must be consequences for bad behavior.
