New England Serial Killer Speculation Thread

I still don't understand why every body found in these states during this same time period are not being discussed in the news. Very isolated reporting (town/area local news only) such as the Taunton MA body found in the woods and the recent one (yesterday) in a river in CT. And add to that another recent missing woman in CT.

I mean how frequently do people just walk into the woods and die or fall into a freezing river and drown all alone? Water in New England this time of year is Freezing...most people would not voluntarily enter the water IMHO.

This feels like a lot in a short period of time. It would be interesting to know if this is actually an increase over other years or is part for the course.
The Glastonbury disappearance, going to the river at 12:30am, parking and getting out walking towards the river...sounds like a deliberate action on the part of the lady. I don't think it sounds like she was meeting anyone there, sounds like it might have been a willful and tragic decision 💔

Were any of these found during the large FBI investigation along highway 88 in Westport, MA last summer? There were many police vehicles and a med examiner tent along the highway … is this related at all?
I don't think that was related. JMO This newscaster said the local DA said it was a federal investigation...so not a local prosecutor. Just a guess, someone may have admitted getting rid of evidence by throwing it out of a moving car? Idk

Don't be mislead by the extent of the geographic area, comprised of 3 or more states. This is New England. The states combined cover an area about the size of greater Houston. I would treat this as the same geographic area.
Yes all three states combined are only approximately 13,717 square land miles.

There has actually been a lot of coverage in the national and even international news because of the serial killer theory and people posting about it on social media (People, Daily Mail, InTouch, Rolling Stone, etc.). It may not be a serial killer and the cases might not be related but it’s probably a good thing that the theory is bringing attention to these women’s cases.

Plus, people view distance so differently, depending on their own personal lifestyles. Someone who is willing to drive an hour to go to a certain hair stylist/market/dress shop/doctor isn't going to view that hour drive the same as someone who drives only 10 minutes. A professional driver doesn't see/feel distance the same as someone who spends 28 days of every month within a 10 mile radius.

I’ve been following this as a local resident since the news started popping up, it seems to be catching more steam and I wanted to see what you guys here think.

(Archive)

Here’s a quick breakdown of what we know so far (all from March–April 2025):
  • New Haven, CT (March 21) – Remains identified as Denise Leary, 59, mother of two, who was previously reported missing.
  • Norwalk, CT (March 6) – Paige Fannon, 35, from West Islip, NY, found in the Norwalk River following heavy rainfall.
  • Killingly, CT (April 9) – Remains confirmed but not yet identified.
  • Groton, CT – No ID yet. Found at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery inside of a suitcase next to bus stop. Adult female between the ages of 40 and 60.
  • Framingham & Plymouth, MA – Human remains discovered (unclear if connected).
  • Foster, RI – Also under investigation, details sparse.
Connecticut State Police have officially said there’s “no information at this time suggesting any connection” between these cases and that there’s “no known threat to the public.” Still, it’s hard not to notice the cluster, not just geographically, but in timing. We’ve got at least three confirmed identifications, with others still pending.

There are some similarities in the locations (wooded, rural, or near water), and there’s a lot of speculation about whether these are just individual cases or something more coordinated.

So I wanted to bring this here.

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and dig deeper into the timelines, geography, and backgrounds of the victims. It’s early, but we all know how fast these stories can evolve.
8FBI stated in a report almost 20 yrs ago, that at any given time there are at least 6 serial killers active in the US alone. Can not think this number has gone down since than. Police to not like to admit to a serial killer unless they have a really good idea who it is, so this does not surprise me. Here in Az. , where, I live, it is kids missing from group homes. A lot of kids. There was a discovery of a bunch of backpacks and shoes in the desert on Friday I believe. Original post was to Tik Tok and has been since taken down but a search will get you to it from people who grabbed it before it was taken down.

I just saw another body found in Taunton Massachusetts in a wooded area two days ago. No word yet on whether it is a woman. Seems like police are becomes a bit quiet now, not releasing details, which in my opinion means they might be considering if these are all linked or could be to prevent copycats.

Identified.
Samuel Stovall.

He was homeless and found in the river. Death doesn't appear to be suspicious

If anything, if it's a real SK happening over the last 5-10yrs, it's most likely a long haul truck driver who crosses state lines from NY/NJ area through on 90, 91, and 95. Wouldn't be surprised if they lived in NY/NJ area but drives through New England for their routes. This way by crossing state lines with a company truck, it's a bit harder to catch such an individual and if most of these bodies are by major roadways/highways, it's definitely a long haul truck driver dumping bodies.

ViCap even put together a decade ago for the FBI, a map of long haul truck drivers massive hot spots for serial killers that are running around since the 1980's. New England as a massive red dot area over the states (a minimum of 17 red dots!).

Here is a YT video talking about the program: FBI Crime Analyst Describes Highway Serial Killings Initiative

exactly. An undetected SK in a new area did occur to me, but wouldn't the quick timing still be leading to the SK not just being detected but caught -- unless, of course, he moves on quickly again.

How would that work? the SK moving on when the whispers of "SK" begin then moving out of the new area again as people notice. now, that's frightening.

I'm trying to follow that thought and how the SK could make money to survive. A construction worker? Someone with a very mobile job, perhaps setting up a new store? Didn't someone already mention Dollar General Stores in the area? If a chain moves into an area, employees at the corporate level, or teams of workers, would also move in briefly then move on to the next area for ever how long the job takes. Bonus here is that room and board are covered.

Online work. The worker is paid online, money goes to the bank - all online. How to keep from using any identifying card or info? Gift cards?

I guess waitresses and dishwashers, fast food, any area where long term steady workers are not the norm.

Going to have to think about this.

Just musing here.
I know this is a huge leap and assumption on my part. And honestly I hate to even think this way. Reason numeral uno being it scares the living crap out of me. But would an undocumented migrant not check off every single box you have there. By no means am I saying it is. I don’t know the area. Don’t know if any migrants were bused in, flown in, etc. But in the very unfortunate even that this could remotely be a SK. That could explain the undetected part of it. Along with the timing of the deaths being so close together. Just a great big huge pondering question in my own mind of what ifs. I also realize that it could be a multitude of other every day Joe’s that travel with their jobs. But will also say this. It would seem to me that, that’s a whole lot of extra work with that many deaths in such a short period for someone who is becoming unraveled enough to be caught. Yet still able to maintain a job and hold that secret life together. I just hope and pray that there is not a serial killer period. My thoughts and prayers as always goes out to victims, families, and all who are involved in every step of the investigation of these deaths.

Body found on front lawn in Holliston Massachusetts yesterday. That sounds to me more like a heart attack or stroke (hot weather, mid-day) than foul play, but will let LE do their work and see what happens.

Another one in New Haven

Criminology podcast has just released an episode about this matter.

Another one in New Haven

Identified as Naysha Mendez, 35

He said that Mendez’s body was found in the dirt path in the center of the cemetery, not far from the crematorium. “We’re investigating whether she was killed there or she was left there” after being killed, he said.

A press release sent out Monday afternoon stated that, “Based on the number of wounds to Ms. Mendez’s body, it was evident to investigators that this was a homicide.” That press release also states that an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office ruled that the manner of death was a homicide.

Jacobson said that police have “collected a significant amount of evidence” already, and believe this was an “isolated incident” unrelated to any other deaths in New Haven. He also said police have not yet recovered a weapon connected to this case
