New Mexico - Coronavirus Covid-19

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – New York and New Jersey are some of the hardest-hit areas for the Coronavirus. Pres. Trump even asked for medical personnel to volunteer to help in the region. Three nurses from Roswell answered the call.

The population density in the state of New Mexico is 17 people per square mile (which is up. Last time I checked, this was 12 people per square mile.)

New York State has 421 people per square mile, New York City over 26,000. Geographical distance is a factor here, IMHO.

Fortunate now, and we enjoy it.

We Old Anglo say used to say "please go back to Texas, please " and now add "please go back to California, please...."

JMHO YMMV

Well, yes, although much of New Mexico is empty, so that population density in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Corrales, etc is more dense than those figures would indicate. There are half a million people living in Albuquerque.

But, the entire ethos of New Mexico is individualistic and so many people strive to live out of town, or in much smaller towns. The state capitol is only 82,000 or so people. And it's very spread out for a city.

New Mexicans sometimes come to California, so I felt it was only fair that I get to live in the Land of Enchantment for a few years. Loved it. I never tell anyone here in California, though, I try to keep the secret. I know a couple that lives in Santa Fe and she commutes to Los Angeles for a 3 day work week, maybe 20 weeks a year. My daughter is an official New Mexican, having been born at Presbyterian in Albuquerque (we lived out on Montaño before the bridge was built. Last street before the petroglyph park and before the road up West Mesa was paved.

Loved it. Had wonderful neighbors who were just the right amount social.

That person who commutes to Cali departs -- by my sister's house. Not quite over the house, but close.
