Maree Wilkins, 84, has been missing from Whangateau, near Leigh since [November] 7. She was last seen at 7.30pm that evening. Maree is described as frail and wearing a multi-coloured top, black pants and gum boots. A search and rescue operation is currently underway, searching the coastline and bush around the Whangateau area.

A community search is set for November 25 and will keep the public posted on the Warkworth and Districts Traffic Updates.

From February 2018

Maree Wilkins (85) disappeared from Leigh Road Cottage on November 7 where she had been receiving care for dementia.

She has never been found despite extensive land and aerial searches of bush and the estuary by police and community members.

That search was suspended at the end of November and police confirmed last week there had been no breakthroughs in the case.
