Too bad their parents didn't care about the lives of their children. You don't take children to a live Volcano.

If the supervolcano underneath Yellowstone National Park ever had another massive eruption, it could spew ash for thousands of miles across the United States, damaging buildings, smothering crops, and shutting down power plants. It'd be a huge disaster.
What would happen if the Yellowstone supervolcano actually erupted?

Yellowstone attracted a total of approximately 4.12 million visitors in 2018, the same figure as 2017.

Visitors to Yellowstone are not issued masks and hardhats. That is the difference. When it comes to that point, children should not be endangered.

Three members of the “wonderful” Sydney family who were killed in the White Island volcano blast have been remembered at an emotional funeral service today.

Anthony Langford, 51, wife Kristine, 46, and daughter Winona, 17, were killed when New Zealand’s White Island volcano erupted earlier this month.

A live feed of the service was relayed for son Jesse, 19, who survived the blast and remains in Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital with serious burns.

A terribly sad time for young Jesse, wishing him a speedy recovery.

There are still 13 patients, four of them in critical condition, in burns units in New Zealand. Several of them are tourists from the northern hemisphere waiting to be repatriated, but as it's a trip of 24 hours for some, it will have to wait until the end of January, or later. Of those who were repatriated to Australia, 13 patients remain in burns units in hospitals there. White Island volcano eruption: 13 victims still in hospital a month on

Another Australian has died in hospital from injuries sustained during the Whakaari/White Island volcano eruption in New Zealand in December.

The death brings the confirmed toll to 18, with two more people missing and presumed dead.

"Police can confirm a further person died in an Australian hospital last night as a result of injuries suffered in the Whakaari/White Island eruption," NZ Police Deputy Commissioner John Tims said this morning.

The male patient died at The Alfred hospital in Melbourne in the last 24 hours.

Lava visible on White Island, but eruption unlikely
Lava has been spotted on the surface of Whakaari/White Island - the site of a deadly eruption last year - but there is no greater chance of a second one, experts say.
New Zealand's GNS Science said magma just under the floor of the crater has now risen to the surface

That’s such an amazing assumption.

were they able to finally retrieve their remains? the article doesn't say

Unfortunately their bodies haven’t been recovered......

“Funerals have already been held for the 17-year-old girl and 40-year-old man who had been missing since the eruption.

Their bodies were unable to be recovered despite a complex operation in the days after the disaster. The bodies of six other victims were brought off the island as a result of the mission.”

A critically injured Kiwi tour guide is regaining the use of her hands after "huge progress" in the two months since the deadly White Island volcano eruption.
Kelsey Waghorn was showing tourists around the New Zealand tourist attraction, also known as Whakaari, on December 9 when it erupted.
The 25-year-old suffered burns to almost half of her body, and has endured multiple grafting procedures to her arms, hands, stomach, legs, lower back and upper thighs.

An Australian mother who survived the NZ volcano eruption has woken from a coma to be told her daughter and husband died in the disaster last December.
When Lisa Dallow woke in Melbourne's Alfred Hospital burns unit, she was told the heartbreaking news her daughter, Zoe, 15, and husband of almost three years, Gavin, 53, had died during the White Island eruption on December 9

A very detailed & well-written wrap up examining the events and immediate aftermath of the White Island tragedy of December 9, 2019 in New Zealand. Of the 47 people on the volcano at the time of the eruption, 24 were injured and 21 died - the bodies of two of the dead were unfortunately not recovered. Rest In Peace, Hayden & Winona.

Every Second Matters: The True Story of the White Island Eruption

Last December, around 100 tourists set out for New Zealand's Whakaari/White Island, where an active volcano has attracted hundreds of thousands of vacationers since the early 1990s. It was supposed to be a routine six-hour tour, including the highlight: a quick hike into the island's otherworldly caldera. Then the volcano exploded. What happened next reveals troubling questions about the risks we're willing to take when lives hang in the balance...

while this event was extraordinary

the most sad part of it to me was the two people including a tour guide who tried to warn and save others. their bodies were never found

with most suggesting their bodies were swept into the sea overnight as a large thunderstorm impacted the island before rescue teams could land on the island the day after

to me the owners and operators for white island have a lot to answer for and i look forward to the inquest and if they can find crimes that charges are laid

as there has been warnings for decades of something like that happening on white island

when you look at something in the USA old old faithful in yellowstone and all the precautions taken just for that gyser and other volcanic formations within the park are off limit and have exclusion zones

it boggles the mind they ever allowed people onto white island, even more so without some sort of shelter ( the one shipping container too far away doesn't count)

these people took in millions every year and couldn't invest in proper safety areas and structures " she'll be right mate" as the saying goes and all these people paid with their lives and the ones who will live will be in pain and rehab for years

'You could feel your skin sizzling'

Heard one of the tour guys yell 'run' and we just took off."
but as Ureys tell it, the cloud "consumed" them.
"It was the darkest, most terrifying thing I've ever seen in my life," Matt said.
"You couldn't see your hand in front of your face. You could just feel your skin burning, sizzling. You could feel rocks pelting down on your hard hat."
