I'm more worried about her now...IMO that's where he's going to direct his anger over this outcome. He's going to blame this on her. That's what abusers do.

RR gets to collect his 25 Million. IIRC, JR married RR right after the court hearing. The NFL is a business and a well oiled machine. One can see PR moves all over this scenario. Right, wrong or indifferent, if RR had issued a mea culpa and taken full responsibility, not the spun scenario, he might have saved his job. Instead he obfuscated the facts and the truth of what happened, mislead his team, the NFL, and the fans.

The NFL wanted this story buried IMO, as they have every resource to gain access to the full video with audio. They awoke with mud on their face yet again after issuing RR a weak 2 game suspension that drew public outcry, with the release of the full video.

What is interesting to me, is that we, the fans, the general public, actually have more power than I originally thought. The influence of public opinion on NFL policy has been fascinating. JMV

Before reading the replies to this msm article. I'm stunned she is blaming the media for her husbands actions. She is just as sick as he is if she finds his behavior appropriate. I can only imagine what the future would be like if they have children, because who knows who she would blame if they were taken away by child protective services.....

She needs help. She apparently does not see herself as a victim, nor does she see her husbands behavior as inappropriate. But it is and there are professions in which ones behavior outside the work environment can cost one their job. Knocking your wife out by cold cocking her is clearly one of them.

I have to compare her behavior to those women who falsely accuse fathers of molesting their children. Those false allegations put other children who are really being abused at risk. Her blatent refusal to hold her husband accountable for his actions will have a similiar affect and cause other battered women to remain at risk by not being taken seriously.

He couldn't care less about her. She could have been dead, paralyzed for life, and he's simply dragging her like a sack of potatoes.

I have been watching this on TV and I am disgusted with both sides of this story. Here is the bottom line: you do NOT have the right to assault someone else no matter what they do or say. The only exception is to act defensively when in personal danger.

Spitting is assault.

Slapping is assault.

Punching is assault.

Someone pushing you, acting disrespectfully or speaking disrespectfully does NOT give you the right to retaliate with an assault of your own. If they push you, then you hit them, then they hit you back harder.....where does it all lead to.....nowhere good that is for sure. In those sorts of situations people need to understand that THEY have to exercise restraint, otherwise they become an equal party to whatever the outcome is. You don't get a free pass to do whatever you feel like doing.

In this particular case they were engaged in mutual assault as soon as they returned each others aggression. When that happened there ceased to be victims, only perpetrators. As it happened she came out the worse for it. That fact does not excuse her own actions. Blame for the outcome of their mutual assault rests on both parties equally.

We like to say it was this persons fault, or that persons fault, but the truth of the matter is that both were at fault. This argument about "proportionality" completely misses the point, there is no such thing. IMO both of them should have gone to jail.

Hmmmmm....NFL star, Ray Rice was charged (and convicted) with punching out his fiance in an elevator back in February. He was caught dragging her unconscious body out of the elevator. His team ultimately suspended him for two games.

Now, TMZ has released a video from the elevator, showing the attack. (The video of him dragging her out of the elevator had previously been made public.) Lo and behold, today the Ravens cut Ray Rice from the team. They knew he knocked her unconscious, but only now that a video is released of the actual incident, are they taking more substantive action. What changed?

Seems that they acted today for PR reasons....not for any moral reasons.

Ironically (?) his fiance ended up marrying him.

I won't link the actual video. It's easily found, but I felt like I was a voyeur into someone else's personal life. I guess it's a good thing there were video cameras in the hotel where the incident happened...otherwise it surely would have been brushed under the rug.

The fact that a lot of people are just now shocked and amazed at the rest of the video that has been released is where the real problem lies, why do we have to actually see domestic violence before we react, what does that say about the world that we live in, and btw whoever held onto this video should be charged with withholding evidence and obstruction of justice. the Police and the Attorneys had both videos..the exterior and the interior, and his charges were upgraded from simple assault to aggravated assault.

She was also arrested on Feb 15 and charged for simple assault but those charges were later dropped...
I will assume once LE saw the footage of the interior of the elevator her charges were dropped and his charges were upgraded from simple assault to aggravated assault
She also did not want to pursue charges but the Prosecution Attorneys continued on...

I suppose the Release of Information law is different in each state...I lived in Florida so learned much about the Sunshine Law and how information can be released to the media and the public once a request is made.

Exactly. It's not like it would have been OK to explode in rage and then be remorseful, but it would have been "better". I would think there would be some shock, some "oh my god, what have I done" but nope. No more concern than for a sack of potatoes, as you said.

I don't understand, and thankfully I never will, how a woman stays with a man that lays a hand on her in anger. My mother was hit by her first husband (before she married my dad, who would have cut off an arm before he would hit a woman). She told all of her daughters "The first time a man hits you it's his fault, the second time, it yours." I know that statement offends some women, they take it as an attack the victim view, but I just always took it as sage advice. I have 5 sisters and we have all had broken romances, broken hearts and a few divorces amongst us, but only one of us was ever hit by a man and it happened once. It should be an absolute deal breaker for any woman.

It was interesting last night that I noticed on a couple of shows that Jay-Z was brought up as the example of a real man. When his sister in law was beating up on him in an elevator, he never responded in kind. I bet he never imagined that embarrasing tape would turn him into a hero.:laughing:

It's amazing Ray Rice got such a sweet deal when the video exists showing him punching his fiancée out.
