I found this odd also. That is a long walk for every day. Someone mentioned maybe she was doing running practice. Not in fashion boots, I don't think, unless she had running shoes with her, and even then, she'd be carrying stuff (her boots at least, unless she left them at school). But back to the long walk... I get the feeling (just a feeling) that she didn't normally walk. Why would she? Wouldn't she rather be on the bus with her boyfriend and other friends? Of course, I think; normally anyway. I think somewhere it was mentioned that she walked more than once (on consecutive days I think). That makes me wonder if something had occurred recently that caused her to alter her routine. Of course we don't know all the facts. Just ruminating though.

I don't find the walking home part all that odd. My kids walked about 2 1/2 miles each way to school, even the Jr high was over a mile away. Our school system has no money for buses, so every kid walked *I will add though that this was in city and we never got snow there. On the flip side, my nephew took a bus to school and complained that he could walk home faster than the bus ride because the bus took a long round about trip and frequent stops. My sis never did let him walk, too dangerous on country roads. But my point is, if she was in a hurry to meet someone (maybe) then walking might have been faster than bus ride. Jmo
