was there also any chance that she is planning to go back to school?
Some high schools athletes , choirs , special projects here in california are sometimes meeting in the afternoon.
but i can imagine the walk agIn 2 miles going home and if she's going back another 2 miles not unless someone is
giving her a ride
Imo

All post above are just my opinions only.

It is possible she went home and went or planned on going back to school.

I have a 14 yo daughter in the band. They get out of school at 3:40 and band practice starts at 5 til 7:30. They practice 4 nights a week and some weekend hours. They have time (over an hour) to do what they need to after school and be back for practice.

Abby is on Nancy Grace. Says mom confirmed she did make it home. Marc Klaas is on talking about highly unlikely a 14 yo girl would runaway right before her birthday is hard to believe. NG mentions she's a track star, questions Mark Klaas about predators at her track meets. About the cell phone NG says they threw out the call but did say her phone pinged but didn't give a time.

The friend who said she was walking behind Abby and saw her turn right or whatever...did no one ask her where she was going, if they were walking in a group? Or did I read this wrong?

Just thought of something else. I wonder what phone plan she had. I was chatting with my daughter about things and she mentioned that for some reason with the last cellphone company we used, text msgs would come through repeatedly, sometimes hours later. So if BF and AH were texting at 2:30pm and there was a glitch, maybe she continued to receive the same text at a later time, that would explain her phone connecting with the tower at that time, and given the position of the tower, her phone could very well have been at home without her. So that might be why JY is nixing the whole phone call thing at 6:30pm.

Sounded like AH was walking ahead of the girl, but they weren't together. Kind of like they were both walking in the same direction and she happened to notice AH was up ahead of her. She didn't mention how far apart they were at the time, just that AH was in front of her.

I am not nearly as hopeful as many of you seem to be. Shoulder to shoulder searches of the woods, and scent dogs... I feel it is obvious that they are searching for a body. So I don't think they are sending messages to anyone, nor do they have a clue about what happened.
Jmo, sadly.

I read it as the friend was walking behind Abby but was not walking with her.

The report described the other girl as a "friend" but that may actually make it sound like the girls are closer than they really are. I think "acquaintance" may be more appropriate.

Just my thoughts--that the witness knew Abby but was not a close friend. My impression, IIRC, was that this girl was one of those that did not speak to LE in the first few days. I would think a close friend would have recognized the importance of her information if she was walking with Abby the afternoon of her disappearance.

True, Mom24. I'm in the more populated but still hilly part of the state and I do not get good cell coverage at home. We are in the woods and our reception is affected by whether the leaves are on the trees too. The phone will ring but voice is too garbled to have a conversation. Or the voice mail reminder will go off, but the phone never rang. Texts are more reliable, but sometimes I do get texts until hours after they were sent.

RT set my radar buzzing too!!
I don't see anyone with those initials or anything creepy. Maybe they have been deleted or they just aren't loading for me.

I did see a comment early on from AH's paternal aunt asking Abby to call home or her dad and stating that dad and I love you.

Nothing can be brought here from the scanner thread...

Wonder if someone up on Cranmore found her phone and turned it on and it pinged then? And it was already a big deal because of blood or some other sign of a struggle happened in the house?

I agree, there had to be some sign of something wrong in the house. Mom called the police at 7:17pm, if she's a nurse she probably worked until 7pm and then came straight home. I just can't imagine coming home, not finding my child in the house and immediately calling the police. I'd call friends, wait for some time, assume the child might be out somewhere but I wouldn't assume they were in danger until some time later, certainly not upon arriving home. So I'm assuming she saw something when she got home, signs of struggle, blood, etc. Hadn't thought someone else may have found phone.

The Black truck is mentioned here: http://www.wmur.com/news/nh-news/fa...girl/-/9857858/22454244/-/qb9ufc/-/index.html

Around noon Tuesday, detectives pulled over a black Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 302. One of the occupants of the vehicle, Pam Hatch, said she went to see her husband, who was in the hospital last week.

She said each day she stopped at a Dunkin' Donuts on Route 16, not far from Abigail's home.

Apparently, one of the receipts flew out the window of the truck. Police recovered it, tracked down surveillance video and found the vehicle Tuesday.

On NG tonight was the first time I remember hearing Mom arrived home around 7:00. Not very much time to find phone numbers for friends & contact them to check if she was at someone's house before calling police. To me it makes sense that there were some serious indication that something was wrong or maybe she rec'd a panicked phone call or text? Perhaps that is why things moved so quickly from the beginning?
