I think that since LE has stated they believe it is from AH, then that's what we should go with. I know "believe" is not as definite as "it is" but I am sure there is going to be a bit of doubt under the circumstances but for LE to say they believe it is, it is probably a safe bet that they have looked at all the things everyone is looking at here to determine it's credibility.

bbm

Having law enforcement in my family, and having followed hundreds of cases over several decades, I know that when law enforcement says they 'believe' something, it means they have some indications, but nothing to confirm it.

I don't take anything LE says they 'believe' as a definite.

Even though I know this, I don't have a link, so JMO

Are these locations correct? I don't think I was ever sure where the power lines were before.

This is the area that's highlighted in the NE Unsolved video above when they talk about her being seen on the power line trail, where I put the red arrow:

Okay, now I'm confused. My understanding (as best as any of us can) is that Abby was walking on Eagle's Way from school and was seen turning off onto the Power Line Trail. This made me think that she exited the trail onto Eastman near the retention pond (if she got that far). But, I see from Cheese's post, that there is a NE Unsolved video that shows a picture of the Power Line (not Trail) at Eagle's Way (see attachment in Cheese's post above).

To me, it doesn't make sense that she would turn onto the Power Line Trail, walk down to the Power Line, hang a Left and walk up the Power Line to Eagle's Way again.

What am I missing?

ETA: Okay, I just watched the video. While they show the area Cheese linked, KR says there was a confirmed sighting on the Power Line Trail. I'm going with my original understanding.

Power line. And power line trail are my stumbling blocks.......have been since the beginning.
To me.....if she walked on either of these.....you can scratch off N/S rd. And more. I will be on day one forever. I am pathetic.

  • #264
Same here, anything after exiting Eagle's Way onto the dirt road 'powerline trail' is very confusing for me.

  • #265
If you enlarge the Hollye key points map, you can see that the power line trail is really sort of an obscure path thru woods, why would she take that, yes, it is a shortcut....

I am nitpicking the word "trail" to the enth degree. This was an eta

The whole route looks so long, why didn't she just take the bus? Someone knows why, how come we haven't heard the reason? Her Mom said she was 'supposed' to ride the bus, why didn't she?

I'm right there with you, ohoh. I've never been able to figure out exactly where she was last seen.

I have a google earth view of the trail but I can't figure how to attach it. Do pictures have to be hosted on a website before they can be inserted? It asks for the URL but I have it in my folders. Geevee? Cheese?

In any case look at it on google earth, it's pretty large a dirt road leading from Eagle's way. It's not tiny. In fact it has a barrier so cars can't go down it. This is the trail that has been mentioned before that the track team and runners use as it connects with other established running trails in that area. When you cross the actual powerline and exit on Eastman Road it begins again across the road and leads behind the retention pond. At that point you can go left into Walmart Parking lot or right to more trails and powerlines.
This was the area of intensive searches early on.

As far as short cuts, when I was a young teen walking home from school - it was a 2 mile walk also- I took all the dead end roads, woods, paths and everything that people said was a short cut. My brother made fun of me and asked why I always took the "long cut". But I knew better. I was 14. When I finally got my driver's license I realized I had been going way, way, I mean WAY out of the way, LOL.
But I was 14 - I knew everything!

You can upload it here, after clicking reply or 'go advanced' click the little paper clip next to the smiley face you click for the emoticons, and a pop up box will..um pop up. Click to upload an image (jpeg, bmp, png) when it's uploaded close that window, continue and submit your post.

Or

You can upload it to somewhere like imageshack or photobucket. Then copy the direct image URL onto here.

This is the only quote I've seen in as to her last sighting in an article (and that article link comes up 404 now):
--
"I was walking behind her and I was going down Eagles Way and she turned off onto a dirt road on the right hand side," DF, Abby`s friend said.
--

The only 'dirt road' on the right hand side of Eagle's Way is the powerline trail, correct?

I've posted this video a few times. It's got good information, directly from law enforcement. It's the Nov 7th interview of FBI Kieran Ramsey.

In it he says that Abby was last seen by 2 witnesses on the power line trail.

He also says that her phone last pinged between the school and her home.

About that ping...KR's statement about where the phone last pinged, clears up that issue for me. Before, with the information that "it pinged West of Cranmore Mountain," I was always wondering if the tower on top of Cranmore Mountain would have encompassed the area all the way down to AH's home and possibly South of it.

Do you all agree that, with KR's statement in the video, that the 3:07 ping was, as he said, between school and her home?

ETA: I can't believe I haven't seen this video. Thanks, Cheese, for posting it for the umpteenth time!

I think so, Geeve. If you keep going down Eagle's Way until you get the larger, wider Power Line, I would think that spot would be described much differently than "dirt road".

Honestly, if the weather wasn't so "delightful" outside, I would take a road trip up there to see for myself where she went exactly. That's why I asked a couple of days ago whether you could drive down this trail. I mean, it would be pretty hard to drag someone out of the woods in that area without someone seeing, to get to a vehicle parked on one of those roads, right? Also, there wasn't a sign of a struggle that we heard of- no dirt kicked up anywhere, nothing left behind, no clumps of hair or anything to indicate she tried to fight off someone. Just thinking aloud here.

Back to my original thoughts in the beginning, and that is that she got into a vehicle with someone she knew and trusted at that time.

Agreed. I have law enforcement in my family and there is nothing iffy about evidence. Suspicions, instinct and theories abound and nothing has been taken off the table here from the FBI perspective. "At this juncture we believe" speaks loud and clear to me.

Let us not forget that the FBI had no intention of making this letter public if not for the rumors among certain ' volunteers ' being very vocal about LE just prior to the release of this letter.

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2013/1...teen-Abigail-Hernandez-Is-she-a-runaway-video

I want to emphasize 'rumor' because even though an certain admin of an official help page was being very vocal right after RH's public letter and then just prior to the PC concerning this letter, no specific details of his ranting before and after that PC have been made public.
Purposely.\ IMO./

IMO that they had no intention of making it public and that even though they later did, they still have not changed her classification to 'endangered runaway' and nothing LE does or says or doesn't do or say is meaningless and is ALWAYS geared toward the best interest of the victim.
Again I will point to the tension and body language by everyone in that PC which is shown here in this more complete (from beginning to end) video.;

Keep in mind, ZH has said she went missing from a busy area. Does busy mean near WalMart, on N/S Rd, on Eastman Rd, just off of Eastman Rd? Does busy mean with lots of students around, cars around, other people (shoppers) around? It probably doesn't mean in the woods, IMO. But, really, how could no one have seen Abby after she turned onto the trail? :banghead:

Can anyone that can see the google earth map of the power line TRAIL....tell me how far the sight line would be.......from a school bus, or the 2 walking girls behind Abby?

From the power line......she could be seen a very long distance.
